I always feel awkward looking at fanart for Lilo and Stitch, because I'm always afraid it's going to end up being porny or sexualized in some way. Even if they draw her grown up, I can't stand looking at sexy art of a character I know best as a five year old girl.

People to seem to react negatively to it because crying is coded as weakness to a lot of people, so they get annoyed with a character for being 'weak'. Although a lot of it is to do with them projecting their own issues, or rather the issues that society has bashed into them, about their own weaknesses.

(Disclaimer: I don't think there's anything about crying or showing any kind of emotion that's weak, but I also had to/still have endure a lot of distain for any time I've become emotional in front of the men in my family for being 'weak' or 'dramatic' for crying.)
