1. If I'm supposed to feel guilty for agreeing with this, I don't. I always seem to assume that when people hate something I love, it's because they didn't give it a real chance.

5. Yeah... Not alone. I hate 'netspeak' and emoticons, and all that garbage too. I won't say I necessarily think less of a person, or want them out of my fandom/life/whatever... but for the love of everything holy, it drives me up a wall to see people degrade themselves in such a manner.
Yes, I think it's immature and makes people look less intelligent, yes it gets on my nerves when my friends say or do it to me - and I wish I knew a polite way to make that point-
but I like to think... To each their own?

6. What the flying fuck?

8. Seen it happen to the best.

12. Because Wiccan Vegan Hippies are narrow-minded too?
Seriously. People that preach about narrow-minded jerks are just as narrow-minded most of the time. I don't care what your sexuality/political stand/religion is - if we have fun together, what's the big deal?
Hypocrites piss me off, and it's human nature to be a damn hypocrite.

13. I love my own characters too. Otherwise, why create them?

14. I can't post without a beta, but yes... The fear of plagarism, when I have the balls to think I wrote anything -worth- stealing is intense.

15. Wow, I'm the exact opposite of you. Offline friends, what?

16. Although not on the FF front... I can relate to the whole "when I'm depressed I watch/read something depressing to cry harder." What Dreams May Come, FTW.

18. I can only imagine the wank and discussions this will/has caused.
But I know the feeling.
I hate posting sad shit on my journal, because I don't want people thinking I'm looking for attention or sympathy. I don't want people to think I'm lying, and it -really- sucks when you have something you want to share or get off your chest, and can't....
Newsflash people: Livejournal is not a -journal- it's a way to communicate with friends.
Most people don't post anything private in it, anymore, anyway.

So, yes, I feel you entirely and I'm sorry that anyone would have to go through that.

19. I don't, and I have.

21. Yeah... I wish that about a few pairings myself, and even though I'm not in the particular fandom, from what I've seen of it- I think I understand where you're coming from.

I've been out of FMA fandom for a while, but alchemist_elite was an elitist fanworks community when I was around the fandom (I'm not sure if they're still active). Most of the fandom BNFs were in it. I'm sure most people in the community didn't intend to be negative, but the entire idea of using a test to determine whether or not you were worthy of being a part of the comm seems very clique-ish and exclusive to me now. Why should my merit as a fan be determined by someone else? The whole attitude isn't just found there, though, you can see it all throughout the fandom. It's the main reason I left.

8: I totally agree. The fandom turned him into a whiny, weak child. And he was none of those things. I stopped reading fic featuring him altogether because he was always portrayed so badly.

[identity profile] aishiteru.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
3. HAHAHAHHAA OH MY GOD, I LOVE YOU. That's how I felt about Xaldin during KHII. I still like him as a character, but MAN DO I HATE HIM (at the same time) FOR BEING SUCH A BITCH TO KILL. IUASHDGKJ.

11. Well. Bleach is definitely a DBZ kind of manga. Everyone gets stronger ALL THE TIME. Especially Ichigo. But what can you do. Love the series anyway.

13. Aww. I have a character I created that I adore to this day above a lot of others from different manga/anime/books/shows I've taken in. >>; Sadly I can't really do anything with him these days.

23. Holy shit, GO! If you don't, you'll forever wonder if it would have been awesome, and if you missed out. For the love of all that is holy, go.

6. That's... wow. Can't imagine going through that much effort for a fandom thing.

9. OHOHO

14. That's rather unlikely...

15. One thing you might want to consider is friending other people first instead of waiting for them to ask you. Unless their flist is really huge (and even if it is, sometimes) they'll generally start reading your entries.

1. I agree ):

2. :D

3. I killed him the first time...I thought he was supposed to an easy battle o_0 (It's the Riku Replica that killed me, many many times, then all over again. The little bitch >.>;)

6. Fullmetal Alchemist fandom disgusted me >>; it's such a lovely series, but the fans...they're just so mean and clique-ish >>;

9. :D again

12. I'm a Republicaaaan. Strange to see another one!

15. I think I know what you mean -- it's hard for me to talk to and get to know people online, if I don't know them IRL. When I post in communities and don't get replies, I tend to over-analyze and assume it's because no one likes me/I'm annoying/I'm boring (even though I know that's crap, and # of comments don't matter.) Lately, I've been trying to be bolder online, talking to more people and adding, instead of waiting to be added. We'll see if I make closer friends that way :p

[identity profile] shahrizai.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
15. If you find yourself visiting someone's journal a lot just friend them anyway, and leave a comment saying 'hey, you're cool, and I like your entries!'. Yeah, they may not friend you back, or let you into their most secret privacy filter, but you gotta start somewhere, you know? And if they don't friend you back, oh well, you still get their public entries that caught you in the first place on your friends list! I used to be so high-strung about fandom friendships and now I'm just like, if it happens, it happens. If not, no skin off my back.

9. Kudos!! Iroh needs loving. Though I'm sort of hoping it wasn't that Iroh/Zuko fic I came across awhile ago. Incest fic is seriously not my thing, especially there. But anyway, Iroh totally deserves teh sex.

13. Yeah :/ I dropped off following Naruto. And while I don't think they eclipse Naruto and Neji as faves, some of the OCs I made for my fics are just as loved as the real characters.

18. I'd never thought about that. :( That really sucks. My sincere sympathies. Maybe it would help some to get stuff out if you wrote posts, even if you didn't want to actually post them. It really blows that stuff like fakers makes real grief even worse.

22. Wow. That's a pretty abrupt way to have your opinion of someone changed! Crappy situation to have been in, but good ending :)

(Anonymous) 2007-07-23 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's totally not incest. {is not the poster of 9, but knows her} I've read her fic. Het. Steaming, steaming hot het.

21 ~ I agree with you SO MUCH.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)

1. Why? I dislike a lot of fandoms that some of my friends are in and vice versa. As long as there's not this conflict between us -- which there never is -- I couldn't care less whether they liked my fandom or not. I loathe Kingdom Hearts 2 with a bitter passion while 90% of my friends adore it. While I don't make a habit of verbally bashing it, it's a known fact and no one seems to give it second thought.

3. I know exactly how you feel. There are some characters I can't stand because I spent several hours trying to beat them. Lol.

5. I don't think less of them, but it is a little annoying. So one asked me once why I bothered with proper spelling and grammar when online. Why would I? I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi myself. While I don't do LJ based RP I used to do a lot of freeform RP in a guild and whenever someone would try to strike up a conversation with my character and they had no puncutation and grammar skills, I couldn't continue to play with them. I'd usually politely excuse myself and block them for a few hours.

12. That's sad that so many friendships can be divided on politics. I'm moderate and while I have a sort of contempt to both political parties it doesn't change how I view my friends. As long as no one's getting into heated debates and throwing their politics in my face I really don't care. I have friends who are ultra conservative and then I have friends who are socialist. It's funny, we can be every different type of religion it seems these days and get along just fine but the moment someone mentions having a different political view all hell breaks loose. I wonder if people would be so adamant about political division if they realized how adversely this exact mentality has affected previous governments.

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
12. See, my problem is that there are varying degrees of "conventional" (versus traditional) conservatism, and if I have ANY friends that still support ole Bush, I seriously and legitimately have to question their sanity and intelligence.

Anything else, wtfever who cares.
fangirlism: (Cute - Haruka/Mitsuki)

[personal profile] fangirlism 2007-07-22 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
1. I know the feeling. It's one thing to agree to disagree, but having a fandom you love downright bashed sucks.
8. Quatre! I so paired him with Mary Sues and hated Dorothy back in the day.
15. I have the opposite problem. I have no IRL friends, just fandom friends.
18. It's one thing to fake your death on the Internet (you will be found out, [livejournal.com profile] fake_lj_deaths knows), but if you're legit, that can be proven as well. Post it anyway, if your friends list is made up of true friends, there will be nothing but well wishers.
19. It's one thing to follow the mainstream, it's another to fake it. I guess this is why I gravitate towards obscure OTPs. That way, at least my fangirling is legit.

[identity profile] quaedam.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
9. *is curious now*

11. Well, yeah. Then again--with a shonen series like that, the one main character who wins every battle and is more powerful than god is sort of. . .par for the course? And at least the art's pretty and the side characters are interesting (even if there are about six times too many of them XD). I'm just waiting for Hirako and the other Visored to come back into the plot, myself--I wish they had half the fandom the Arrancar have.

20. Ah, now you make me want to go check comingsoon.net--I'd forgotten about that sequel!

21

[identity profile] corps.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
ILU <3 I can't stand that pairing. It annoys me to no end. And the fangirls of it scare me to death. :\

22 - ....I... I want to be saved by Yuri Lowenthal i_i

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-07-22 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
2. So...write it?

12. I know exactly how you feel. I'm a religious person (and a political moderate), and I really hate the way fandom seems to equate all of Christianity with the lunatic fringe of ultraconservative Evangelists, simply because they are (unfortunately) the most vocal group. A lot of "fandom liberals" strike me as being just as close-minded as the people they claim to hate.

18. I'm sorry. That's really, really terrible. *hugs* You shouldn't be afraid to post things in your journal. That's what makes it yours. If people think that you're faking it, they can just gtfo.

4. I hate it when people do that too. xD; I'm mad about ShikaIno, but I'm actually very fond of Temari's character. Her presence in fillers... not so much. But then again, it's just fillers, right? o_O;
18. People who'll put you down for something like that without any proof aren't really your friends. :| It's your LJ, so just write about what you feel.
21. I like them as friends more than as a pairing too. I KNOW I'M WEIRD. -shot-

[identity profile] shutup-anddrive.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
5. Maybe before you complain about other people using 'lol' or 'lmao' or other such things, you should learn the difference between the word apart and the phrase a part.

Also; I could understand being hacked off about that if they used it in the RP, because yeah, that's annoying. You're there to write, not to act like you're chatting on AIM. But if you're talking about the mun/player who uses chatspeak over messengers outside of the RP? I'd say that's just a bit retarded.

[identity profile] thepinkangel.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 12:20 am (UTC)(link)

9. I LOL'D HARDCORE. The image you chose is so perfect 8D ♥

21. ...I love you. Marry me?

Because, for me? That whole new scene you used the screenshot from convinced me EVEN MORE that they're just friends.

22. He really is a cool dude, isn't he?

1 - I get the same way
4 - People ship THAT? And hate Temari? WTF?
5 - AGREED. 100%
15 - I'm about where you are...I have fandom friends who never talk to me anymore, and it hurts that they've moved on. I get the same thing about communities. I hope you find somebody to talk to.
18 - That sucks, that makes me hurt and I'm not even affected by it. I say post it anyway, privately, just to get your grief out even if nobody reads it. I'd have so much resentment for the people who faked...

#22 makes my heart happy, even without hearing the details. :)

[identity profile] pts.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
1. Yeah, that happens. I thought it was retarded until it happened to me. Then I thought "ship wars" were retarded until someone attacked a "ship" (sorry, can't write that word without quotes) I thought was unassailable. I didn't get into a big tiff over it, but the extent to which I was irritated really surprised me. My advice is breathe, relax.

7. Man, I dunno. I definitely think Mike did a fine job, and it's certainly not worth arguing about, both MST3K eras are great, but... damn if Joel didn't have a certain something... Now I'm just terrified somebody is going to do an MST3K "I Ship It" secret, but it's probably already been done. Sigh. (Incidentally the character I missed the most was TV's Frank...) Keep circulating the tapes.

9. Of course you do. Because Iroh is completely goddamn awesome.

18. That's fucked up. Nobody on my f'list would fake a death. I feel for you.

19. I stopped being surprised by shit like this when people didn't know about Ranma or Kimagure Orange Road. But yeah, I hear you.

23. For what it's worth, my dream concert was fantastic. Just don't worry about it being some kind of huge peak experience, go to hear the music, and have a good time.
