Some time ago, I googled a celebrity. Not someone I'm a huge fan of, nor someone who is really, super, on-the-covers-of-magazines famous, like a major Hollywood star or anything like that.

Googling them, I found they had a relative with a Twitter account. The relative wasn't famous for anything in their own right, but I found their tweets interesting, so every now and then, I looked at their Twitter (I didn't follow them because I don't have a Twitter account). And I noticed someone who they often retweeted or replied to, apparently one of their RL friends. So, I started looking at the RL friend's twitter too.

Anyway, the famous person's relative has since gotten rid of their twitter, but the friend is still there, and I still read it, along with the friend's blog, spouse's twitter and blog, and sometimes the twitter of one of their relatives.

I don't feel bad about it - I don't comment on their blog posts, I don't follow/subscribe to them on sites where I do have an account, like YouTube or DeviantArt, though I do have their pages bookmarked along with the Twitters and blogs, and look at them every now and then. I would never request them on Facebook or anything creepy like that. And the only things of theirs I read are public, so obviously they wouldn't care, right?

But I guess it is a little strange that I have an interest in a group of people who aren't famous at all, or related to anyone famous, and who I've never met and never will. Does anyone else do this?

Hello, sup! Been a while since we've had any themes, so for the next few days we're going on a merry romp across the globe, taking a look at animals from each continent. I'm going to try to showcase animals I haven't shown before, which is why today there aren't any elephants or lions or giraffes or hippos, as cute as they can be. And if that wasn't obvious enough, well- it's time for Africa!

I got home from work and checked my emails. In them was an alert from my bank that I was nearly out of money. Puzzled, I grabbed my transaction register (which I'm diligent about keeping transactions uptodate, but lousy at actually balancing) and quickly did some maths. Even figuring in the pending charges, I should have over $500. My online banking info says I have about $10.

In the 18 months history available online, I couldn't find any transactions that weren't in my register or would in any way explain this discrepancy. I am absolutely freaking out and can't do anything about it until the bank opens tomorrow.

I've never had anything like this happen before. Any banking types around with advice? Or someone who's been in this position? Hugs? D:

Hey guys! So I've always really liked soccer (aka football in most countries), but I've never really followed teams or anything. That is something that I'd really like to get into, but I never knew how. So for any hardcore soccer fans...how would I approach this? I don't really know when the season is (lol problem..), and when I do see soccer games on, it seems as though there's like 5 all at once--how do you know which one is the important one to watch?

Any tips, stories, or ideas you have would be greatly appreciated (:

ETA that I am most interested in the Euro leagues, if that helps. And I live in the USA if you couldn't tell.

So. For the past 5 days or so, I haven't actually felt hungry. I've eaten, because I know that I have to or bad things will happen. But I haven't really wanted to.

Is this something I should be concerned about? I haven't been experiencing anything else out of the ordinary, and like I said, I'm still eating an appropriate amount of food. It's just...weird.

I'm so annoyed at my workplace right now. We're in rehearsals for a show opening soon, and the schedule tends to change, so usually we get an e-mail saying when everyone is called for the next day. Yesterday, me and the rest of wardrobe did not receive an e-mail, so we didn't come in today. Cue a surprised rehearsal report saying gosh, there was no one from wardrobe today. No shit, dumbasses, you forgot to tell us to come in.

hair care question

Reposted from yesterday because apparently I was too late-stupid confusing time zones!

How often is it normal to wash your hair? Is it really so abnormal not to style it every day?

My hairdresser pretty much gave me a lecture when I told her I never style it.

I wash it twice a week. I know some people wash it more frequently than that but if I wash it any more than every 2-3 days it gets too dry and my scalp gets itchy. She seemed completely horrified that I didn't wash it every day.

When I asked her to only take off a few centimetres she said "What do you want long hair for?" I said I just prefer it long and she asked again "What for? What are you going to do with it?" I had no idea what to say because I honestly don't even know what the fuck 'doing something with it' even means. If she means all the curling irons/hairspray and complicated braids stuff, I've never done it before because a)I don't have the time b) I don't have the money c) I don't know how to do it properly and would probably fuck it up and d) I really don't care all that much.

I tried to appease her by saying I'd consider getting it dyed but she said "well where's the point in that if you're not going to bother to look after it properly?"

And she cut off about twice as much as I wanted. So I am sitting here with my way too short hair feeling rather angry but I'm not sure if I'm right or being silly about it. The reason why I wanted it kept long, and loathe short hair so much is because my mother has forced me to have the same ugly short-as-a-boy's hair cut* my whole life and I had only just gotten her to let me have it the way I wanted it in the last few years. I let her drag me there with the assurance that she and the hairdresser wouldn't do what they'd done every single other time I'd been (tell me I was getting a little trim and then hack half it off) but apparently she lied again.

But still, it's just hair, so am I overreacting or was she out of line?

*Disclaimer: I don't have a problem with other girls having short hair, or anyone having whatever sort of hair they want, I just personally can't stand it for myself.

I got this call on my answering machine from the hospital I belong to (? It's where my insurance plan sends me) asking me to please call them back as soon as possible. That's it. I didn't have an appointment or anything coming up that I needed to confirm, and while I called back and was on hold for ten freaking scary minutes I got through basically every horrified thought possible -- the pee sample I gave my doctor last time (that had already been confirmed as fine) was retested for some reason and says I have a horrible disease! My daily medication is contaminated with something else! I'm no longer covered by my father's insurance plan!

When they finally picked up they said it was time for me to have a pap smear. I barely managed not to be extremely rude with my response (it wasn't my doctor's office calling, it was like this branch of the hospital that calls people whose names get highlighted on a list of procedures they're in the age group for.) Seriously, how hard was it to add, "this concerns a medical procedure that you're due for" on the answering machine, or if even that was considered not private enough, how about adding, "it's nothing to be worried about at all"? I mean, does anyone expect a random phone call from the hospital (when you're not expecting test results or the like) to be good news?

Yeah that sounds really random. When I receive reminders it's usually through the mail or e-mail, which always has the information of what they're reminding me about in the letter.

I would speak with them about it, perhaps it's something new they're trying out and for whatever reason didn't realize how scary a phone call from a hospital can be.

I'm going to my first larp this weekend and I'm so psyched. It's one of those larp groups that rents out a whole camp for the weekend, and had events almost monthly. I'm just going to NPC for the weekend, so I can get into the swing of things. Does anyone else here larp, and is there anything I should keep in mind?
