Yes, I know about Hussie's thing with the trolls. And I know you get used to the typing quirks. Again, Kankri's typing quirk really isn't why I can't understand what he's talking about. It's because his sentences are so long and boring and full of ridiculous words.

Why can't she be gay, because trolls are pansexual? Saying Kanaya can't be gay because trolls are a pansexual species is like saying humans can't be gay (or bisexual!) because they're a heterosexual species.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-09 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Jesus fuck are people in this fandom really so stone-cold idiotic as to not be able to tell the difference between Hussie being facetious and Hussie being serious or

So you are invalidating my identity. You're saying that my rare and fleeting attractions to men are of as great import to how I choose to label myself as my overwhelmingly greater attraction to women, the fact that I only date women and have only dated women since I came out because identifying as bisexual led to more than one unhappy relationship with a man I was attracted to but not sexually, and the fact that I have only had and will only ever have sex with women.

Would you tell a straight person who admitted that they found a person of the same sex attractive once or twice in their life and never acted on such attraction, people who'd fall as 1s or 2s on the Kinsey scale, that they technically can't call themselves straight because of it?

There are more nuances in attraction and sexuality, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

I think we can safely say that both of Kanaya's concupiscent quadrants, red and black, are girls-only because they're the ones that involve sex and why in paradox space would someone who's effectively a lesbian want to have sex with men, but what the fuck would a lesbian know?

(I could also go on about kismessitude and how hating someone to the point of wanting to kill them is contrary to its entire purpose, but I've had quite enough of being bitched at for being a "fun-ruining quadrant rules lawyer" in my time.)

I like Scott more or less depending on the episode. Sometimes I find him likable and charming and other times it's like 'come on dude, don't be stupid'.

But yeah, Stiles is my hands down favorite. He's hard not to like. He's the one throwing himself in to all the situations Scott would rather avoid. He's scared shitless and he faces these things anyway just trying to protect everyone. And I'm a total sucker for the scenes with his dad.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-09 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
There's also Kanaya's attraction to Vriska, which one may or may not consider to be reciprocated (although too late to matter) after Vriska got punched in the face by her.

But yeah, I agree with you. It's more than a little disappointing for a pansexual species to be introduced and then have nearly all same-sex attraction in the comic be played either as a joke (between male characters) or turn out to be an absolute trainwreck (between female characters).

This is why the Porrim/Aranea in the most recent flash made me so happy. Fuckin' finally, a nondysfunctional same-sex ship!

"Tbh, Moffat is pretty much a glorified troll who is paid to write fanfiction"

And this makes him different from JNT, how, exactly? /blasphemy-burn-the-heretic-etc

Re: SPOILERS FOR THE REST OF THAT SERIES

The ratings are still similar
7.94m - Series 1: Final BARB rating average (13 episodes)
7.71m - Series 2: Final BARB rating average (13 episodes)
7.55m - Series 3: Final BARB rating average (13 episodes)
8.05m - Series 4: Final BARB rating average (13 episodes)
7.73m - Series 5: Final BARB rating average (13 episodes)
7.52m - Series 6: Final BARB rating average (13 episodes)

The only 2 seasons without a significant change (new doctor, last episodes etc) have been series 3 and 6. Series 2 and 5 could be compared too (new doctor).the only thin missing are the still massive I-player numbers.

" but because Amy
thought he wanted kids and didn't have the common sense to say the slightest thing about it? I mean, how hard is,
"Rory, I know you've always wanted kids, but if you still really do, we need to talk"?"

Waaaaaaaaitwaitwaitwait...you mean that they not only they go OTT with needless soap opera drama (not in my SF TV, thank you), but they're not even internally consistent with it? What happened to that whole "proud new and overly-emotional parents" bit from the we-find-out-who-River-Song-is episode? Hand-waved? Forgotten? Dismissed? So, they're doing space opera, but not even particularly good space opera? Okay!

Yanno, IDEC. I'll just be over here in the corner with whatever I can find online from anything DW pre-1990s. With the possible exception of Seven and Ace.

"Doctor Who is still sci-fi. It's not a sitcom, or a romantic drama."

(Anonymous) 2012-09-09 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
TBH, after reading this whole thread, I now have absolutely zero inclination to watch any of it. What a trainwreck! Maybe I'll catch it on a marathon, but, eh.....

(Anonymous) 2012-09-09 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder if this is a coincidence, but I both dislike Amy and Rory and find HIMYM pretty boring.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-09 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
that sounds even WORSE IMO.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-09 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

Those are movies, so female.

For mangas, however, despite being comic books, I also assume female.

You're under the impression that what we have now is Doctor Who? Maybe in places. But only in spite of itself. /bitteranonisbitter

[personal profile] exitmouse 2012-09-09 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Could be, though I don't think that actually matters - iirc, only ♠ and ♥ are the mating-related quadrants. ♦ and ♣ - while serving a valuable function in troll society are basically platonic.

That's why being Vriska's moiral was basically being friendzone'd for Kanaya. I COULD BE WRONG, NOW. It's been a while since I got my B.A. in Troll Romance.

Short answer?

Yes.

I was going to make some kind of joke about writing canon-approved Nana/Bec fic now, but then I realized there is no joke funny enough to top the sadness of reality.

Re: Shitty movie with good premise

In my opinion, Repo! The Genetic Opera. It had a neat concept and the trailer was amazing, but when I saw it... it felt like they didn't use the setting. I wish I could elaborate, but I took Gothic Themes and Social Issues in Film two or three years ago by now, and I saw the movie because it was a preview to one of the movies we watched in class.

Oh man yes strangers teaming up. That shit gets me too. <3

(Anonymous) 2012-09-09 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I think this is amazing. And lol the anons who think it wouldn't be Doctor Who because it's not a scifi plot, as if character arcs have never been a part of the show which are incorporated into the time travel and aliens action.

I was going to pick Niles/Daphne for the worst. WHOOPS.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-09 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that is called watching the show. Stiles > Scott. It's a fact.

I'm not so sure we can safely say a thing though. So far, Kanaya has shown no interest in Black Quadrant, other then Denying something dave asked about. In the end though, shippers, they gon ship even if Kanaya fills all her quadrants with girls. But I find the debate interesting.
