Running on pop-culture osmosis here rather than actual familiarity with the fandom, but isn't she described as something along the lines of the village bicycle when it comes to auspiticism?

Also, wow, it's ridiculous how much Homestuck jargon I've managed to pick up secondhand.

Zzz & lacking imagination

The people who go by the posters icons sounds so much more fun

depends on the location of the fandom too, and what that fandom produces at said location.

I gotta say I automatically assume this too. Mostly because most of my fandom circles ARE overwhelmingly made up of girls, so it just kind of...becomes the default from repeated experience?

On the off chance that you don't already know it, I'll toss Holes out there.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-08 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm, somehow I doubt that. When people say 'I want them to give me proof' they usually don't mean 'I want them to give me a statement and I'll take their word for it.'

Heh, I'm laughing at your icon...you didn't like HBP?

I try to like them but I just don't find them very interesting.

I do this too, and I've discovered that after spending so many years dealing with primarily female fandom (both online and at cons because the only cons I ever went to-- many years ago-- were anime cons with higher female than male attendance) I get a little shell-shocked when I cross over into "mainstream" fandom spaces that are male-dominated. And, sadly, which are usually quite homophobic and misogynist.

I watch the leak and when the episode airs. Although the only time I've done this has been with Adventure Time when the Fionna and Cake episodes was leaked.

I suspect there are fics about him giving birth to a horse but I don't read MPreg.

The new Teen Titans cartoon, before I found out it was going to be all chibi and comedy-centric (my excitement lasted all of five minutes). It still might be good, but I'd really prefer the old show back.

on the internet, one cannot escape homestuck. they'll wind up learning about it and picking up the jargon even if they don't want to.

*g* Credit goes to [personal profile] grazhir for that one. I share the sentiment at least partly - I did like HBP a lot, actually, until JKR mentioned somewhere in an interview that HBP and DH were meant to be one book and she decided to split up the story because she lacked time writing.

was the movie you saw "Branded"? Because I'm seeing that complaint leveled at it all over the place right now!

As for me, X-men: First Class, hands down. In more capable hands that movie could have been So. Much. More.

I would read that. Frankly, that's more inline with what really freaking happened with LOKI!

if you can find it, marc laidlaw's "dad's nuke" has a genuinely scary camp.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-08 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like you care a lot.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-08 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes. But that's an "ashen" relationship rather than a "pale" one, not to mention by far the least explained type of troll relationship, but if "lesbian" needs to apply to all four quadrants that's a mark against that.

There's also the matter of Dave accusing her of wanting to be Gamezee's kismet fish.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-08 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Er, no. I don't care about Loki. You just have a rather morbid interest in the character.

so many zombie movies. when done well, zombie movies are excellent apocalyptic fiction; i don't know how people keep fucking it up when george romero keeps showing them how to do it right.

I was excited for a new game in the .hack// series, when pictures of my favourite characters in gorgeous new outfits were released.

Then I saw a video of my number one favourite acting in a skeevy OOC way, and sank into horror.

Then I found out that it wasn't really him, it was a sort of AI copy. Also the game has never been released outside of Japan, and most of the fandom hates it anyway. So I'm chill again.
