Nngggh, yeah, I dunno. Theirs is sort of an older-brother/younger-sister or maybe uncle/niece kind of relationship, or at least that's how it feels to me, so I can't really romantically ship it.

That said, they're not actually related, and they're video game characters whose ages are at least debatable, so I can see why someone (esp. someone with a size difference kink) would be into that.

Not for me, though.

Super interested to see if there's any good fic that comes out for the movie, though. What an interesting setting.

My general thoughts about this is why people are shipping Ven/Ralph when they can ship Ralph/Felix/Calhoun

Except pretty much everyone acknowledges the Sugar Rush racers as kids. Ralph calls her a kid. Hell, Vanellope herself calls herself a kid. Their ages are pretty clearly more to do with their programming than it is how long they've existed.

That said, though, I did catch myself wishing Vanellope was older for the sake of shipping it a couple times.

I guess I'm not squicked by it because, well... they're video game characters. I mean, they are literally a species made up of data. To me, it feels like shipping two species of digimon.

Also, why do people assume that shipping has to equal sex? Given that whole "being video game characters" thing, I doubt they even have genitalia.

Iunno. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I think it could be cute.

I came out of the movie shipping them too and I thought it was really awesome that you could have Felix/Calhoun and Ralph/Vanellope and both would end up happily ever after. It just seemed so obvious to me. Yeah, there's a weird height difference, but they're video game characters who can come back to life. I'm sure they'll make it work, or Vanellope can eat a Mario mushroom and get bigger or whatever. (There are also different types of sex than PIV, people!) I had one friend going on about how cool it was to see a male/female friendship on scene with no hint of shipping, and how rare that is. And I do agree that is awesome, and I sort of hate to "spoil" it by shipping it, but I think that's why I ship it. Because I'm NOT the kind of person who ships the two hot characters who were obviously set up to fall in love from the moment they were introduced. (See almost any movie ever.) I vastly prefer friendships that grow into relationships, and so these two are perfect for me. They aren't shippy, but they're really close good and amazing friends, and it's just so easy to see how after spending more time together, it'd develop into something. And I love the idea of Felix and Calhoun being there for advice giving/encouraging and stuff.

It just makes me sad that when I finally find a pairing that I can sort of identify with and want to ship and explore, everyone's going to focus on relatively stupid facts like the size or "age" difference when they're freaking VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS. No one ever bitches about Mario/Peach or even Bowser/Peach. I doubt I'll ever read/write fic for the pairing, but I totally see it, OP. Ignore the haters.
