Today, I almost lost my shit over someone who insisted repeatedly on writing the cost of things like this: xx$

I don' t know about other countries, but this person was from the US, and in the US, the dollar sign does not go after the money. THE DOLLAR SIGN DOES NOT GO AFTER THE MONEY!!!

Jesus fucking Christ. I have no idea why that bothered me so damn much.

Yeeeah, as with so many other things, I think the USA is pretty alone in having that order...?

Personally, I just don't get the logic. "$" would be pronounced "dollars", right? So wouldn't it make more sense to put it after the number, since you don't say "that item costs dollars five"? A rule is a rule, and I can understand your annoyance -- but I'd be curious to hear whether or not you actually find it logical.

Hahaha, I do this every once in a while. But I have an excuse at least: I'm Canadian, and speak French sometimes and it's normal for French Canadians to write prices out like that.

So unless that person spent a hell of a lot of time in Quebec or something...

I always calculate the probability my secrets have of being posted on a particular day. I take into account the number of secrets, the number of the remaining days and sometimes make an adjustment for broken links.

That's so embarrassing. And it's not even like I care. I just like calculating weird probabilities.

I don't have a problem with people who have a problem with sex work (in America, where it is illegal). I do have a problem with people who are hateful dicks to sex workers, but those are two different groups.

I've ALWAYS felt like it looks ridiculous when white people "act black" (like white rappers, white people getting dreads and corn rows) and I always wonder why they want to do that. It makes me happy that the Social Justice Warrior types came up with (or popularized) the idea of appropriation. It's like my opinion has been justified, and now I can make fun of those people with impunity.

I suspect that two of my friends have crushes on me. But it could just be wishful thinking. I'd have to reject either one of them if they ever confessed, so I actually hope it's not true, but I think a big part of me just wants to be wanted.

I think a lot about killing myself. I don't think I will but if I do, I am going to do it mid-September. This gives me enough time to see if things get better. Also, it isn't near any major holidays or birthdays in my family. I don't want any of those celebrations to be associated with my death.

I lied to someone about why my run today took longer than usual. What I said was that I just felt like pushing myself just a bit extra, and that I stretched in some grass (hence my grassy clothes).

The truth is I stopped about midway through to play with a friendly stray cat on a sidewalk for about 15 minutes, and the grassiness was because it was rolling all over me orz

my friend does this thing when I'm telling her about some assignment I have to do for class or something and she goes like "psssh that's nothing, I have to do something similar but HARDER"

and it's like, sigh.

She does this with EVERYTHING academically related, to me and other people. This other friend was commenting that he was close to finishing college (in a year or so) and she was like "pssssh I still have 4 years to go." I get her subject is hard and it can cause her a lot of stress, but dude, come on.

I get emails from Daily Kos, Demand Progress, and Planned Parenthood about all the political and social attacks on our rights and whatnot, and I feel ridiculously guilty deleting them without reading half of them. I just don't like knowing just how bad everything is getting, but I'd feel even guiltier about unsubscribing from them. I care about what's going on, but I just don't feel like I can do much at all about it :(

When my then-boyfriend wrote his doctoral thesis, he included me in the Acknowledgements. It's the sweetest Thank You ever, and reading it you'd think we were soulmates or something.

I feel horribly guilty, because I knew even then that I didn't want to stay with him. I just wasn't feeling it. I tried for about nine more months, then I broke up with him.

I want to use something to blame you for the thing happened between us. Like you are a bitch who can't appreciate me or because you are an ice block with emotional limitations.
But I know that this is wrong. We just didn't feel the same way. I was just too hopeful. But the way you didn't take our friendship as seriously as I did hurt way too much.
I know I want you someday to feel like this. And I hope it hurt as much.
You are a shallow bitch who will never accomplish anything in life because the only thing you can do is read books after books. Romantic books. No social skills, way too forward and colder than the ice block that hit Titanic. Fuck you.
