Heh, it's fine. Most of the fic I read is Kirk/Spock so I feel you.

There should be more gen fic, but I'll probably go searching for more later, and I'll def check these out. The 5+1 fic especially sounds right up my alley.

Thanks for this!

Same, anon. Same. Avengers is consequently one of the most bewilderingly disappointing fandoms I've ever tried to venture into.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-08 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, it's really depressing that this made-up fandom has more fic than some of my actual fandoms do on AO3.

Not depressing enough that I'd do what OP is suggesting (That's depressing in itself). But still.

Dean/Gabriel! Admittedly, it's not as tiny as some of the ships I've shipped and I actually have about half a dozen friends who ship it, but none of them are writers or artists so I'm the only one regularly producing fanworks for it.

If it had been something he didn't like though, he wouldn't be able to change it, so it wouldn't have necessarily helped at all. All it would have done was give him a script that he *must* abide by, at risk of destroying the universe if he tried deviating from it.

I think the scene was meant to show that the things read could not be changed or undone. Unfortunately, shoddy writing throughout the episode (like with Rory dying alone but not really in the end) undermined it. And that doesn't change the fact that the Doctor *was* a major dick about the whole thing.

Anyway, just trying to explain where I *think* Moffat was coming from. I'm not a fan of it (Moffat fails as both a "big picture" writer and a writer with consistent characterization), but they did try to give a reasonable explanation for it.

Are there lots of Casual Vacancy crossovers?

I'm pretty sure someone on this comm writes Pansy/Krystal. Other than that I haven't heard of any, but then, I haven't gone looking for any.

As for what it's like, that really depends where you are and who you're with. I'm still having an awesome time, personally. :)

Not only has SJWs desensitized me to sj issues so has reading all the angry rants by POC against white women and men. They do have their points and I'm not denying that they're true in their experience and, hell, I even agree w/them, but I'm now constantly wondering what POC think of me now even if it's just a simple hello, how are you doing exchange, esp. since I said that to a AA woman and she stared at me and walked away w/o a word at a conference I was attending. I have no idea what happened there other than she didn't like me b/c of my skin color.

I'm now much more uncomfortable around POC than ever before in my life when it totally didn't bother me sitting at a table being the only white woman w/everyone else being POC, primarily AA, in the 80s w/a large white student population (and I mean POC were primarily AA and vastly outnumbered) in a smallish southern town and my friends asked me why. Why? B/c I liked them and I thought they liked me. Now, I just wonder.

I wouldn't be able to buy it. I could buy that he doesn't really understand the connection of sex and romance or have any experience with sex whatsoever or understand why humans are so into sex, but to have him not understand how the thing between his legs works, when AFAIK he was raised as a normal human child?

Plus isn't it heavily implied that the Kaworu of 3.33 is actually fully aware of everything that happened in the original series and understands that this is a fork/AU kind of setup? (people are citing an interview with Ishida Akira [Kaworu's seiyuu] which essentially says exactly that, plus the slightly altered, sugggestive dialogue like, "I really was born to meet you" [from the original, "I think I must have been born to meet you"] and "I'll definitely make you happy this time".)

Oh wow, I completely forgot to mention Scotty/Uhura but I thought they were adorable together and am def interested in any fic with that pairing in the reboot. I look forward to reading it!

And I've never seen Uhura/Gaila before, but it sounds sexy and I could get behind it.

Thanks anon! <3

The Hobbit, One Direction, and ASOIAF. The three fandoms that consumed me for about a year and a half and I'm now almost entirely over them. Unfortunately, I've replaced them with a pretty small fandom full of bad writers who don't update often. I wish I hadn't lost interest now.

But what a sweet death it will be.

(Or...maybe not so sweet considering the Vikings finale, but lets not think of that.)

Not a lot of people do that. But the ones who do in my experience, are Steve/Tony shippers.

I disagree. If he had stayed with her and determinedly tried to help her get out intact until finally realizing that nothing was going to work and he was running out of time and couldn't dawdle any longer, and then helped her break her wrist carefully and as painlessly as possible, that would have been painfully sweet and heartwarming/heartbreaking.

Also, if he had offered to help her and River had instead thrown him out insisting she could do it herself, that would also have been a good route to take.

Ah, yeah, I can see how that would read really weirdly then! It took me a moment to remember what part the bow is, since I'm not very musically inclined.
luxshine: (sciencebros)

[personal profile] luxshine 2013-05-08 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Totally agreed.

I am a Bruce/Tony shipper, and I know, I have to finish my fics, but I also want to read new stories and it's so little of it, specially compared to other ships.

Yeah, this. What he did didn't bother me, just his attitude while he did it.

I made a fry-up fajita (I'm sure this is not the right word but it's the only one I have) the other day and it was utterly divine! My excitement about it was crushed more than a little by the realisation that it was the highlight of my week and I had nobody to talk about it with anyway.

Re: Star Trek

[personal profile] elaminator 2013-05-08 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
I will endeavor to do so!

Edited to ask: Have you read the Star Trek comics? (The ones that follow the reboot storyline?) I can't remember which specific number it is, but there's a Bones centric issue and it's lovely. Actually almost all the main + side characters (including Cupcake) have had their own issues and they tend to be really interesting.

Re: Sexy writing?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-08 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
What kind of sex scene? Het, slash, femslash? Are they first-time w/each other or first time w/that gender or are they in a relationship or just sexually experienced?

There's BDSM, pegging, collars, d/s, bloodplay, painplay, playing w/toys, etc.
