The Show/Movie/Game that always makes you sob like a baby?

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2013-05-11 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Just what the title says. What makes you cry every time you watch it?

I have several. When the Tenth Doctor regenerates, especially the whole scene of him going to "say" goodbye to everyone.

The ending of Requiem for a Dream. I have only watched that movie in full twice (I own it on DVD), because it makes me so upset.

And Schindler's List when they are taking the children away in trucks while their parents try and pull them off.

Sometimes I wonder why I ask these questions because I have to answer each reply or I feel bad. :P But I like hearing from y'all.

The end of The Persian Boy, which is one of my favourite books ever... ugh, it kills me D:

Also the 4th episode of Lost-- "Don't tell me what I can't do!" with this music

I know I mention A Scanner Darkly like every time this question comes up so I'll just say The Trial this time. Only saw that movie once and it fucked me up for daaaays.

Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations, and all those stupid Professor Layton games. Goddamnit can't we have just one PL game with a completely happy ending?! Why does it all have to end in tears somehow? ;_;

Nothing makes me cry, but there are things that make me emotionally agitated in a way that would normally lead to crying.

Seconding Schindler's List, except that for me it is the final tear jerker with Oskar and the Juden. I just. Stern and Schindler.

It's not a piece of visual art, but Snowden's death and Yossarian going to the parade naked. !!!!!111 And McWatt's death. Man, I still can't get over it. "Oh well, what the hell", carolled McWatt to the control tower. !!!!111
Sorry.

Animal Farm. Boxer's fate. He was so naive. What is odd, my feelings towards the people he's supposed to represent are less strong.

Back to films/shows: BTTF, the scene where Marty is shot. Doc's facial expression never leaves me indifferent.

/it's OK if you don't answer to my posts! Feel free to write/not write anything you want./

If I ever sob at something, it's usually only the first time, and then after that I cry less and less each time. That said...

Doctor Who - Doomsday, aka the episode that broke me for a couple months. Marathoned the entire first two seasons of New Who in about a week (which was actually my first week of college in which I'd left behind everyone from my home state and hadn't met really anyone new yet), got sucked into it far more than was probably healthy, and ended up watching the second season finale around 2:00am on Monday morning. WORST MISTAKE EVER. It's been about five years of active fandom immersion since then though, so I barely tear up when I watch it now.

Shawshank Redemption - Brooks' final monologue

Secondhand Lions - It's so sappy and heartwarming at the same time.

Les Miserables - The ending. I am totally fine throughout the rest of the ENTIRE show until Fantine, Eponine, and Valjean sing the final couple of bars.

Like dethtoll I always answer the same thing *cough*LOTR*cough* so I'm not going to do that.

Spock's death in Wrath of Khan and basically the entire fucking ending of Metal Gear Solid 3. Even the credits. (Way to Fall is an appropriate song, okay?!) Also the microwave scene in Metal Gear Solid 4. Hell, at least once in every Metal Gear because I'm a sap and cry at everything and those games are ridiculously emotional and sad at times.

The end of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, when everyone raises their wands after *that* particular moment.

And The Grave of the Fireflies. I have watched it twice and cannot watch it again.

I've never been able to bring myself to watch Schindler's List but I cried through most of The Pianist. My head hurt from crying toward the end.

You don't have to reply to everyone or "feel bad". Your habit of replying to everyone is incredibly fucking irritating and it has made me deliberately avoid a lot of your threads that I would otherwise have participated in.

No one cares whether you reply or not. You're not so special that people are replying just for the sake of your input. They're replying because hey, someone put up a thread that sparked some fun thinking for them. They're not doing it for you.

There's no "always" for me. I rarely rewatch stuff that made me cry the first time I saw it, because I don't want the memory of my first unspoiled experience to be ruined or cheapened by rewatches.

Doctor Who is the only thing I can think of right now (I just woke up)

In Journey's End, Donna's goodbye scene makes me cry every single time. After I saw it the first time, I thought I wouldn't be as affected if I watched it again but it turns out that now I'm on the verge of tears every time I see her in that episode leading up to that scene.

I also bawled like a baby the first time I saw the "What could have been" scene in Family of Blood, but it only happened the first time.

Hurricane Fluttershy. Imagine a grown man sobbing his eyes out over inspirational ponies. That is me, every time I watch that episode.

I'm tearing up a little just thinking about it.

A long time ago it was Sommersby, the same bit everytime (in the Court when Jodie Foster says "I know because...") But I haven't watched it in years, so don't know if it still would?

Green Mile is an inevitable tearfest.

And there's a book called "Flanders" by Patricia Anthony which has me sobbing, every time I read it.

I'm quite a weepy little flower though, I'm sure there's more.

Disney everything, but particularly Lilo and Stitch, Nani singing Aloha oe to Lilo every freaking time.

Puella Magi Madoka magica. I cry all the way through, every episode every time I re-watch it. I can't stop re-watching it...

Last Exile, Lucciola, and Alex's deaths. Sometimes I'm fine until Wina lies to Sophia telling her Alex said her name, and then I'm gone.

Aerith's death in FFVII. It makes fighting Jenova afterward a lot more difficult when you are trying to beat her while sobbing pathetically.

Hmmm,I don't have many, but the most recent ones (and the ones making me cry the most) are Eddard Stark's death and Daenerys killing Drogo. So many tears.I cried when Lori died on The Walking Dead, when Merida thought her mom was gone, when LoTR in general, when Mitchell died on Being Human UK and when Daniel Sempere almost died in the 'The shadow of the wind' book.

Okay,that's actually many.

For me there are several, but some are worse than others

1) When Donna has to have her memory taken away. Ohhhh my god.

2) That one scene in Supernatural where Dean is so so so tired and he's just crying and praying and he says "please" and that is when I break down into a wibbly mess

3) A.I. The entire fucking movie. I can't even watch that shit, because I'll get straight up dehydrated from the ridiculous buckets of tears that are produced by my stupid sad eyes.

The "I'm Still Here" montage in Treasure Planet. When Stitch says, "I'm lost" or actually the entirety of Lilo & Stitch. I've seen Wreck it Ralph twice and the ending line always gets me.

The "Without You" (especially the part where the people in the life support group start fading away and you're just counting up until it reaches Angel because you know he's going to die) part in RENT.

Millennium Actress every single time. Grave of the Fireflies. Every Ghibli film ever makes me cry somehow. The beginning Up montage. She and Her Cat.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind when there's the point of view of the guy crawling underneath the covers and saying "don't take this away from me" or something like that after the girl says she's ugly?? - I can't really remember but whenever I watch that scene I cry.
Life Is Beautiful, The Pianist, Lars and the Real Girl, and Radio makes me cry somewhere.

Princess Tutu, Madoka - everything makes me cry.
The last episode of Revolutionary Girl Utena where the scenes where Utena is trying not to die are intercut with scenes of Wakaba going to Utena's house to ask her if she wants to study with her.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time where Makoto is yelling STOP STOP STOP when her friends are killed by the train.
Haibane Renmei... when that one angel goes away, and then the main character falls down the well after her wings start to turn black, and then the last episode where Rekki doesn't think she can have redemption. Azumanga Diaoh - the graduation EVERY TIME.

Lord of the Rings, tears get messy.
Oh and the episode of Teen Titans when Starfire leaves Silkie behind lololol.
Fantastic Mr. Fox when the new fox kid is sleeping under the table and starts crying, and then the other kid fox goes over to him and turns on the toy train so they can watch it drive around in circles and light up together.

...everything kinda makes me cry i just need to wait and I HAVE WEIRD FEELINGS ALRIGHT.

- The Fullmetal Alchemist episode of Maes Hughes funeral. (The first time I watched it, I was watching it with my mom. So embarrassing :P)
-"The Body," although I've only seen it once and don't want to see it again because it's too perfect. I sobbed through the whole damn thing.
- I almost always tear up when listening to Metallica's "Mama Said" and "Hero of the Day".

Those are the only ones I could think of off the top of my head.
Edit: Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code's beginning chapter. Every time. Every fucking time.

There's a book called 'The Bluebird and the Sparrow' about these two sisters who are polar opposites and the plain one thinks she's unloved because her prettier sister gets all the attention. I read it when I was like, eight, and broke down crying. I was an ugly duckling and my brother got a lot of the family's attention and resources (for all the wrong reasons, but still...) so I identified with the heroine.

The last episode of Xena: Warrior Princess.

The suicide in 'Perfect' by Ellen Hopkins. The drama and trauma in that book was overdone, but that scene still made tear up.

The ep in Supernatural with Ellen and Jo's death. Esp. That Scene. Just thinkin' about it now is making me teary-eyed. I know my mom would be like Ellen and not leave me. *sniffles* Gets to me every. single. time.

This is probably really obscure, but about 100 years ago, Reader's Digest put out a little half-hour animated film of "The Happy Prince" (which, being written by Oscar Wilde, ends unhappily, of course). The end makes me cry every single time, any time I've ever watched it.

I have, of course, passed this tradition on the my nieces and nephews, who now cry bitterly with me when we think of it.
