5. lmfao

[identity profile] frostious.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Thank god pretty is a relative term.

5. OH NOES SOMEONE LIKES SOMETHING YOU DON'T LIKE. I'm not even a part of that series' fandom (never read/watched it) but if you're really that bothered by someone liking something you don't like? Maybe you and everyone else is better off with you out of the fandom.

6. This secret nearly made me so happy that I nearly cried. And I don't even know the series/whatever you're talking about!

31. THANK YOU.

[identity profile] saave.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Lol. That is all I can say. Lol.
10. I can't play scary games. D: I cry. /pathetic moment
12. At least you try. It's the people who read wiki and LOVE VINCENT VALENTINE or something retarded like that- without any clue piss me off. I'm glad I'm not in that fandom, because I'd even be more pissed off if I were. :3
13. I tried to read it D: I still don't understannnd it.
15. Augh, I want a kickass roommate. D:
16. YAWN. EGO TOO BIG. BORING.
21. True. Was it ever stated, not just implied, that it was Zelda? D: *last hope*
22. Yeah. Out of all of that series I watched before stopping, I think she should've picked him too.

Is the icon related? If so, don't be intimidated by us... we're totally cool and you should know that, being in the fandom. We don't have BNFs, we don't have wank, we don't need it. We're just made of awesome.

Re: 11.

On one hand I want to second that, and on the other hand I can kind of agree with the secret. XD

Like, I definitely feel the "oh god these people are awesome D:" kind of intimidation, but when I get over that and actually talk to them, it's like WHY AM I INTIMIDATED, IT'S ONE BIG HAPPY CIRCLE OF LULZ.

or...something.

7. OH GOD WHY.
If I hadn't already thought of the pairing this would have really messed up Dead Like Me for me. Luckily, I have also been affected by fandom.

[identity profile] haruhara.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
05. There isn't that much love for the manga and there really should be, and yeah, I remember when there was like...300 fans. XD Such a long time ago.

09. I like Martin and Faye as well. xB

12. Awww. X3 As long as you're a fan, it shouldn't matter if you're new or not! Who cares if you joined because you watched FF:AC first? :o I hope you do have fun with FFVII though!

29. I personally dislike the art of these series but dang, if the stories aren't some of the most addicting.

30. I have totally seen the intro and ending to this show but I have never seen it and mostly because I don't know where you can find it orz. Odoooooru ponpokoriiiin~

5. In before twincest wank?

24. You win.

32. In college, I mentioned yaoi to the aid in my Japanese class, and she had no idea what it was. Upon further discussion, it became apparent she was shocked that there was anything like that in Japan, and she said she'd never seen or heard of any of it. And this was a native Japanese girl. Also, Hard Gay is awesome and you get mucho points for putting him on a secret! :D

28--...oh man, as much as I'd cry if it happened because he's like 50% of why I love Avatar so much, I can sort of see your logic. D=

28. I've been 99% positive he's on the chopping block since "Bitter Work." And I agree with you. If they are? It's going to be the most gut-wrenching scene in the whole damn series.

NOOOOOOOOOOO! *whine*

With you on this. It's the Obi-Wan / Dumbledore / Mentor Too Cool To Live curse.

But if he lives, and they pull it off without cheese or a deus ex machina, I will love the show even more and have to explode

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
5. I was nodding my head along with you until you started bashing twincest. I can understand why you don't like it and I understand what it's like being in a fandom where a popular pairing isn't one you like, but fans are allowed to ship whatever pairing they want and it doesn't matter what you think. Honestly I have nothing to do with the fandom these days (even when I was interested, I only lurked) and it's not my favourite pairing but now I want to post some twincest just because it'd piss you off so much.

21. Sheik is female though. She's Zelda in disguised. You can't really compare her to Peter Pan since one is a male character and one is a female pretending to be male to protect herself. A better comparison for Sheik would be Samus from the Metroid series since that's another case where the character was thought to be male at first but turned out to be female. Or do you also get your panties in a wad when people call Samus a girl?

21

(Anonymous) 2007-09-19 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"You can't really compare her to Peter Pan since one is a male character and one is a female pretending to be male to protect herself." This is truth, and that is not what I'm arguing here. I'm saying Peter, on stage, is usually played by a female. That doesn't mean Peter isn't a dude. It just means there is a chick in the dude suit. Zelda is a chick in a dude suit, and when people refer to Sheik as "her" or "she" it DOES get my panties in a twist, because Zelda is playing a male character, and the least anyone can do is acknowledge that and stop pretending the role of Sheik is that of a Sheikah girl just because he turned out to have a vagina in the end. If Zelda were Mary Martin and Sheik was Peter Pan, NOONE would call Sheik a girl regardless as to Zelda's plumbing, so why do they do it at all?

Samus is a chick playing a chick in a suit that makes her sex/gender easily confused. But as far as my knowledge of the series goes (extremely limited), she doesn't go out of her way to assume the personality of a male.

16. Link? I want to read this. (I'm not about to ridicule you btw, in case you're worried.)

21. Correct me if I'm wrong, but does it ever refer to Sheik as male OR female in the game? The guidebooks tend to call Sheik a "he," but I always thought he/she was supposed to be androgynous.

26. Join the club. =[

9. QC for the win ♥ I agree.

18. AMAZING. The movie version fails in comparison to the series D: But I do like the movie too. Just...kghliushpgaidufh the SERIES ♥

32. Agreed. If you went around Japan admitting that you're a yaoi fan, or even just an anime fan, you'd most likely be publicly ostracized :[
That culture has way too many contradictions.

Re: 6, 9, 18, 32

[identity profile] doinkies.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
I think it depends on how fanatical you are, really. If you walk around in public with a body pillow with some anime character on it and/or constantly talk about anime all the time and how such and such character is so "moe", then you would probably get a more negative reaction. But if you say "Oh, I really enjoy (insert more mainstream anime here that isn't totally otaku-y)", the reaction will likely be more positive. Though I think that saying you like manga will probably be received better.

5 - I wouldn't mind reading its manga version. The only problem is the store I buy manga from never has volume #1 whenever I have the money, and I won't read manga out of order. :P That said, isn't it a good thing that its manga version became popular enough that an anime was made? And now that FUNimation licenced it even more people can see it and maybe enjoy it enough to go out and buy its manga version. But yeah, I'll agree with you about the twincest part.

6 - I'm glad you found the person of your dreams. :D And as a straight guy I wouldn't mind watching more canon lesbians too. X3

10 - GO PLAY IT! Silent Hill 2 is the emperor of all survival-horror video games IMHO. If you can get through it even the other SH games won't bother you anymore. ;P

37 - Well I can kinda see how you would think Death Note would be boring, but on the other hand it doesn't rely on heavy action sequences. It uses paranormal and psychological suspenses to heighten the situations. But hey, that's just a guess and whatever floats you're boat. However, you shouldn't be afraid to admit to your friends that you don't like it. If they're going to hate your guts because you have an opposite opinion of a favorite anime series of theirs, then you're giving me the impression they're kinda shallow people. :x

5. I don't really care much for twincest, but I have to say that your reasons for disliking it sound pretty dumb to me. "It'd be like fucking yourself"? Your twin isn't a figment of your imagination or a figure that stepped out of the mirror. She or he is a separate person, with separate thoughts, interests, soul, etc -- even if she or he is physically identical to you. Maybe they're someone you grew up and know intimately, but isn't that considered romantic if they're two childhood friends who live next door? It shouldn't be any weirder than other forms of incest, practically speaking.

(Also, most people don't mind fucking themselves -- it's called masturbation.)

6. Irrelevant to your secret (good for you!), but I wanted this pairing to happen so bad. Of course, I wanted any configuration of pairings in this game to happen except the ones they chose to go with.

21. CHEERS. :D Although what really gets me are people in fandom who insist that Sheik is secretly a dude who only pretended to be Zelda only pretending to be him. ...yeah.
