I've already said my peace, but...

With the frilly music and freaking HARP? HOW is it hard to see Sheik as a chick?!

More twincest and you get out? OKAY.

[identity profile] allira-dream.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
TWINCEST. NC17.

Um. Since I don't know if this is okay or not here at F_S, HIGHLIGHT FOR PORN.

I'd lay even odds you'll get your wish. And it will probably be awesome, even though... *snf*

Because seriously, what else is going to snap Zuko out of his obsessive need for approval from his father than the only person (uh, besides his mom) that ever really cared for him getting offed?

I have less of a problem with fans referring to Sheik by a certain gender and more of a problem with the fans who think Zelda and Sheik are two different characters (most specifically, the ones who love Sheik and hate Zelda). Though I guess I can't be too harsh on them since the manga is mostly to blame for that. Fucking manga.

Fucking manga.

...Makes all the pages stick together! D:

I do not know what fandom you are in where a majority of people actually enjoy female characters being sexually assaulted? I've always found that to be kind of like, niche, and not really that widely accepted as something that is OMG HAWT.

[identity profile] kiraya.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
5 - Hey, to each their own. Some ship twincest, some ship vanilla het, and some ship loving tentacle-sex genderswitching foursomes. Don't like it, don't read it. Drop the people who blab incessantly about it from your friendslist. Is it THAT hard?

6 - This secret makes me so incredibly happy. ♥

12 - Even if you never finish the game, at least you're making the effort, which is more than can be said for a lot of our fellow Compilation newbies. It's the people who are only in it for the pretty who make the rest of us look bad.
Also gonna second another commenter's point -- if you're having trouble getting through the game, sitting down with someone else to play it together makes it flow so much more easily. I mean, I know for sure that's the only way I'm ever gonna get through FFVIII.

21 - The adopted persona is male, so one would assume using a male pronoun to be more appropriate, but... Ohh, genderfuck, how I love you some days.
...I'm not sure if that was supposed to be sarcastic or not.

25 - OMG DRAGONLANCE ILU. :D I read those books over and over when I was growing up.

31 - Word.

I actually experienced something similar when I was amongst the giant wave of noobs coming into the Tolkien fandom when the movies came out (but in that case it was a lot easier for me to sit down and read the books). You're always going to get noobs good and bad in any fandom.

I've lost my fandom buddy that I had been playing with (due to college ending), but I bought myself the strategy guide, so hopefully that'll help me out a bit.

I've actually read some of your fic -- it's nice to know that some of the good fic authors I've read are relatively new themselves. :)

Might as well leave the fandom now is all I can say, because I can't see Hikaru/Kaoru fans dissipating anytime soon.

But thanks for reccing the manga.

13. Aww, Death! She's my favorite Not-So-Grim Reaper along with Botan.

29. I think it's like that with most comic artists. And also... KIKAIDER MENTION! NEVER SEE! :D Kikaider is pretty much the best thing ever.

It seems most truly talented writers, whose work is subtle and deep, eventually amass a descent sized vocal audience.

Then again, there are writers who consider their work to be subtle and deep when it's actually poorly constructed and convoluted.

I have no idea if you're in the latter category.
You may be wonderfully talented.
Then again, if very few are commenting on your work, you might not be the best judge of your own product.

I'm not the OP of 16, and I do think his/her ego is a little inflated, but the size of one's audience doesn't determine the quality of one's writing.

Anne Rice. Dan Brown. Laurell K. Hamilton. J. K. Rowling.

I rest my case.

5. Auto-immune deficiency syndrome: why is that tossed around as an insult so easily? Anyways, despite not being in the fandom, I'd imagine it would be a reasonable assumption to claim that you leaving would benefit the group as a whole.

21. Peter Pan = Real actress portraying an adolescent male character.

Sheik = Woman dressed as a man.

If I put on a dress and call myself Nancy, does that mean I become a separate entity that--irregardless of my sexual parts--is, in fact, female and named Nancy?

32. I agree with this right here. I will never, ever understand why people who happen to like video games/manga/anime/etc have such a strong attraction to Japan or, more importantly, why such a massively deluded perception of Japan exists so strongly. I love anime, video games, and manga as much as anyone but I have no interest whatsoever in Japan over an other country.

That's a shitty argument. But still, the answer is that it depends upon your intentions.

LOL, yeah, "your" fandom. Sure. Sorry that I slashed a pairing you hate together. I promise never to touch YOUR fandom again. Plz forgive me?

You're secret reeks of elitism, but I can see where you're coming from in regards to the whole manga vs anime. But what I really want to say is 'LOL AT ALL THE HIKARU AND KAORU IS CANON COMMENTS'. Apparently, the whole 'making fun of yaoi/twincest' slips from their radar.

DEAD LIKE ME secret, eeeeee~~~!

And, hey, Delores/George is at least as plausible as Rube/George?

[identity profile] doinkies.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
32. Exactly - BL/yaoi is a niche "otaku" genre. If you look at most "bestselling manga in Japan" lists like Tohan (http://www.php.co.jp/fun/ranking/books.php?genre=f)'s list, most of the time the list is made up of mainstream titles, with the occasional "otaku"-ish title that pops up (like this week, Lucky Star vol. 5 is #5). BL manga usually does not appear in this list. It might appear in more "otaku" type lists more often, but Tohan's list is a more accurate reflection of the manga-buying public and not just the diehard otaku IMO.

The same can be said of other "otaku" niche genres for that matter.

5. :/ I'm getting tired of secrets like this.

24. Hahaha Dr. Phil. I love you.

5. Hani...stuffed bunny...Nazi armband. Once I die laughing, I'm going to hell.

6. Word with a side of holy shit somebody besides me played SaGa Frontier. I know it has an incredible number of flaws, but damn, do I love that game. Especially Asellus. Actually, I was just slightly too young and obtuse to really understand the Asellus/White Rose going on, though now it's blatently obvious. This secret makes me smile in many ways.

(Is Farah/Meredy really canon? If so, I may have to dig out the ol' ToD2 and get through that part that kept kicking my ass.)

12. Yeah! Why should you have to play an excellent game when you could watch a crappy, pretty mess of a movie? ...wait...

13. Er, not wanting to die right now is a good thing.

15. That's awesome.

16. I've got nothing to judge from but font, text, and colors, but...yeah. I'm sure that's it.

25. Dragonlance or not, the lizard's adorable. D'aw.

I know, aren't iguanas so cute? I love all sorts of lizards, though - I definitely prefer the rain forest variety.

37. You shouldn't be afraid of liking other things. If you only like something because your friends do, it leaves out your own personality, opinion and spine; I would recomend that you be more honest, while respecting their opinion.

[identity profile] runic-binary.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
26. Holy shit. That...holy shit, that's my story. I wrote that. Oh my god. o_o I feel all honored now. Even if that's not meant to be an example of good fic. Because holy shit, that's my story and it's on fandomsecrets. Wow.

(Whoever you are, thank you for reading my fic. ♥)
