5. I will admit I like the manga version of Host Club better, (I like the manga version of Mori better, and I don't particularly like the last episode of the anime) and you had a point until you went on random twincest tirade. As others have pointed out, Hikaru and Kaoru, despite having the same looks and a similar devious nature, are two very different people. I can't see it as loving yourself since there are differences between the two. And it's not like it's just fans of the anime who like the twincest, either. You can be squicked by it, I kind of am. (I don't ship the twins myself) You have that right. However, other fans have the right to ship it if they want.

...by the way, stop blaming it all your problems with the Host Club fandom on the anime fans. That just makes no sense.

i myself have a twin sister, and i find twincest absolutely effing sick and disgusting. i may be biased... but YUCK. I get angry every time i see any form of it. twins have a special relationship, dont ruin it people T_T

I'm torn to an extent. I don't really WANT him to die, but I feel like he's going to so when he does bite it I want it to be EPIC.

Alternately they could PRETEND to kill him but then have him be okay (like when Azula burned him on the shoulder in 'The Chase' only twice as scary). That way there could be epic Iroh 'death' but then also epic Iroh frolicking with Zuko's kids in the future. (That man needs grandbabies to love dammit.)

5) There are good and bad people in every fandom, and part of being a fan is figuring out which fanfiction to read and which to ignore. Ouran is not unusual in that regard-- I've read some nice fanfiction for it.
I understand where you're coming from on the twincest rant, and I don't think you're that elitist, but wouldn't it be easier to just avoid the fics that have questionable content instead of making enemies of so many other fans?

I can kind of understand where they're coming from, because there are a lot of scary new fans coming in, so I can understand the feeling that the noobs are "ruining the fandom." But it sucks for us in the in-between parts, who are willing to learn and just need the means and the time to play the game. And like you said, even though I don't write or engage in fandom discussions, I feel like I shouldn't be enjoying it since I've only seen AC. A lot of them also make me feel ashamed that I like the Compilation stuff. :/

I have a lot of RL friends who played the game when they were kids and have this nostalgia factor going on... they get kind of territorial over it. They just kind of laugh at me or look down on me 'cause I got in through AC, which they think sucks, and there's also the fact that they know I'm a slash fan and suspect me of thinking about gaying up their favorite characters.

12. You seem sane and nice, a rarity with a lot of the new people coming in, or at least it seems that way since the newbies we see posting fanfiction around so much are generally the same idiots who don't realize that you need to play the game before you can write the characters.

Seriously, though, I have nothing against people who got into the fandom through AC and who are holding off on writing fanfiction until they've played the game. Hell, you guys are wonderful to see the AC prettiness and not be shallow enough to think that's the full extent of character development. So when you hear play the game, play the game, play the game, consider it directed at those people who claim to love the characters and yet who can't bother themselves with more than wikipedia and script-reading in order to understand them before they write them.

Also, if you're bad at games, you should maybe try finding a friend IRL who can play it every step of the way while you watch? :D Maybe once you see it played, you could maybe get the hang of it and re-play it yourself and take notes about the characters you like---that's what I do sometimes when I replay it and my memory's gotten hazy, or if I'm planning on writing one of the characters. XD; BUT MAYBE I'M JUST CRAZY

I actually had a fellow noob playing with me for awhile, when we were in college together, but we only played an hour or two every week. She got a handle of the whole turn-based thing really quickly, and eventually moved on to other FF games. Now I'm out of school, minus my buddy, and just kind of holding the controller going "omg materia gah." XD I get it, I just don't get it as well as I should, I think.

I honestly don't know how people can enjoy AC without knowing any of the background, though. My friend and I were like "okay, let's watch this, it looks really cool and I've heard good things," and we were like "wow, this is pretty, but... what the FUCK is going on!?" That's how we got into the fandom, by researching it online... and pretty much reading all the good fic there was to be had. I'm not going to feel like I can call myself a real fan until I get to the end of that game.
