The law (At least in my state) says if they can pass for fourty, you have to card them. I even had to sign a form that stated I would, or forfeit my job. (They send in fake customers to check on you, too, so it's best to just follow the rules)

I recognized some of my mother's passive-aggressive tendencies in Gothel, along with her way of shutting down arguments and making you feel like a bad person if you try to continue discussing it. However, my mom never did this to the extreme that Gothel did, and has always been loving, supportive, and encouraging. But the way this always seems to go is that if someone says Gothel reminded them of their mother, everyone assumes that their mother is just as bad as Gothel.

An online file is far from infinite. Tech changes a lot more quickly then it did back in the years of vhs, and I can think of a lot more files I've lost then VHS tapes.

Streams go down.
Files get corrupted.
Media players change so you can no longer play old files.
And people just plain old run out of space and delete files.

Because saying that a woman can't be a superhero based on how she looks isn't also misogynistic? It's one thing to point out unfortunate trends in female superheros (waif-fu needs to go), but it's entirely another to say that women (or people in general) can't be strong without having bulky muscles.

Scarjo isn't some tiny stick figure in the movies, she's obviously fit - she's just not She-Hulk.

A lot of people do this. We have entire freaking communities and websites devoted to exactly this.

That said, I'll second many others in saying that often times it's not the producers of a show or movie who are stalling - in fact, these guys are usually pushing to move their show or movie to as many places as fast as possible. It's just that every country has their own laws concerning these things, and every company has its own policies. These things get very complicated, very fast.

I am genuinely worried about the kids you work with, I gotta say, if you are this uncaring about their problems. Maybe you should look for a new job.

OP here a bit late replying but thank you for your kind words and advice.

If I could hang on for a month, then I could see my way clear to sucking it up and getting on with getting on. I just cannot muster the motivation to face what looks to be my lot in life for the REST of my life (and then I may be too sick to enjoy it -- if I do not end up getting sick beforehand as so many around me have). Not for one month more, not one week more, Not. One. Day. More. I have hit the wall as far as that is concerned. But I cannot seem to convince my brain of otherwise. I don't WANT to be/feel this way is my issue.

No one owns the rights to many shows I watch where I live. We even have Hulu (and better than Hulu in the US in many respects--because Hulu+ here gives us absolutely zero commercials, woohoo!); it's just all we have are old sitcoms no one watches and B movies. I paid for it for a time but then it wasn't worth the price (it's also a bit more expensive than in the US).

Right now I pay for Amazon Prime and a VPN. Together that's close to $150 a year. I'm more than happy to pay for access, but I don't feel guilty in the least about violating terms to do so.

A lot of places have policies like that. Partly to make it less likely for people to skate by without getting carded - but honestly, I think a lot of the reason is so that people don't have as much room to argue when they get carded, or at least so that there's a policy they can point to when the person cards them. I'm sure those arguments must get INCREDIBLY wearying.

Heh, a couple times I've just made a STATEMENT that I don't know about XYZ, and thus have no idea why someone is going on about such-and-such, and have had people reply with the Googling stuff. Which I would already have done if I wanted to know about XYZ, but what I actually was doing was stating that I have no interest or inclination of spending time on XYZ enough to understand whatever they were assuming everyone already knew about. I was doing precisely the opposite of asking for an explanation.
