Yo, 35.

If we write them a letter (petition), do you think they'd make it reality?

[identity profile] crackjaw.livejournal.com 2007-09-23 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
...I wouldn't put it past them.

18. Keep fighting the good fight, Anon! Seriously, the last anime I watched was Planetes - I have no idea what half the posted secrets are about.

26. I'm always sad when someone tells me they're in the fandom but have only seen the movies (not only for LOTR but also HP, etc). If you love it enough to read/write fic, why can't you take the time to read the books? They're canon! And good! And it doesn't take ten thousand years to read them!

35. Don't we all?

36. The Metatron is ten times hotter than Snape but Colonel Brandon from Sense and Sensibility will always be ten times hotter than the Metatron (for me, at least - it's the clothes and the woobiness, I think ♥)

1. In some six or seven years of being in and around fandom I've only met maybe one or two guys who were really otaku, in the original sense, where interacting in the meatspace was almost impossible for them. The rest of the men I've been are really great nerdy/geeky types that had no problems with girls in fandom, even the stranger sides of it. If you haven't gotten to know them, you really should, because you're missing out!

28. I'm glad that you were able to find strength in fandom... why don't they talk more about people like you on the news?

33. This made me want to cry with happiness. Dreams really DO come true!

35. I sense that there is some tension there as well, and it ought to be exploited explored.

17. CID. YES, CID IS THE BEST :D I think people just ignore him 'cause he's not bishie like Cloud and Vincent *shrug* In this case, though, his personality >>> all else.

34. Cliche...? O_o Okay... I just found out about Edgeworth's past, and I have to say, I didn't really see that coming at all. I dunno where you're getting all this, lol. Plus, the characters in that game are meant to be ridiculous. Ah well, whatever, you're free to feel that way.

12. Oh god, I'm not alone! TODAY IS A WONDERFUL DAY!

21. Okay, I had no interest in reading this whatsoever. Because ... vampires. But now that I've heard it described as "The High School Musical of vampire novels," I'm not sure I can resist. INADVERTENT LULZ!

34. But ... but see, he's so close to being the angsty bishounen type of character that I hate. And then he's a total crackbaby like the rest of the cast. HE TALKS ABOUT GARDENS OF JUDGEMENT! AND... AND... "WHOOOOOP!" AND THE THING WITH OLDBAG. I -- I MEAN. ♥

35. RPS usually makes me want to die. But I think I could make an exception for those two.

36. YES AND ALSO YES. I loved him way more in Dogma and Galaxy Quest than I did in Harry Potter. He's so wonderful and dry and hilarious and ♥ But then, I just have deep moral problems with Snape not being a hideous grease-covered man-beast. I thought the gratuitous oiliness made him just a little bit more fabulous.

39. ajsgkf my otp ♥ ;~; I -- I'M TRYING NOT TO GIVE UP HOPE. Naruto's 2 steps away from officially being a BL now anyway, right? I CAN DREAM. But yeah, I'm not reading the series again until Lee comes back. And probably dies ten chapters later, 'cause that is apparently how Masashi Kishimoto ROLLS.

in my experience, it's often been connections between people superseding notions of sexuality, not any sort of "Gaydar" or whatever. Of course, my circle of friends is very flexible and open-minded about that sort of thing, so I guess luck's a factor, too.

Still, sweet secret. :)

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-09-23 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)

1. The most beautiful men I've ever met have been through fandom, actually. Granted, I do cosplay a lot and that's where I meet most of them, but I have a friend who may become more than a friend if we can actually make things work out this time around, and he's absolutely gorgeous and I met him online about three years ago. It makes me so happy to find a sexy, intelligent guy who can fangeek over Castlevania more than even I do.

2. Lol. My poor brother hated that movie as a kid. I remember him telling me later on how our cousin was telling him around Gremlins one night while we were vacationing with them and then he had to get up to use the bathroom late that night and realized that the cabinets beneath the sink were the perfect size to hide gremlins. I wonder if the movie still creeps him out. He was the same way about The Goonies. I loved The Goonies and when I was fangirling over it a few months ago he was all, 'Oh God, that movie scarred me as a child.'

3. Clone High, ftw!

15. I liked Windwaker despite having never played it myself. I watched a guy friend of mine play it back in the day. Still doesn't top OoT, but I'll never understand why people bash it so much. Come on, Link had facial expressions. That was awesome. Lol.

17. Cid is seriously one of most awesome characters ever. I'm still saddened that they never made an action figure for him.

26. Yeah, I read the books when I was younger and enjoyed them and pictured Legolas looking like Link, and while my interest had kind of fallen away by the time to films came out after seeing them I reread the series and the Silmarillion and then proceeded to learn Sindarin -- sadly, I remember very little of the latter. Same guy friend who I watched play Windwaker found that 'talent' of mine sexy for some reason ... it was kind of like speaking Klingon though. ::dies.::

35. So much word to that last bit.

36. Alan Rickman was hotter than Snape in every other role he's had. Snape was greasy.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-24 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not saying the films didn't do any good... if not for them lots of LotR-love that lay dormant wouldn't have come forward, but I detest fans who proclaim themselves experts about Middle-earth and spend all day gushing over Viggo/Orli without ever having touched the books or even knowing they exist, and existed before the movie came out. Bleargh.

I'm glad you were actually captivated enough to read the Silmarillion - Feanor has got to be my favourite character ever, and I've fallen so in love with the First Age that I don't think I'll ever go back to the LotR-love that I had (the interest waned, like you said) but I still love the books and respect the bloody hell out of Tolkien for creating a world like that. Subcreation at its best. <3

09) Drakken/Kim's Dad slash! How did I not ever see that? Or maybe I did, but was too distracted by Drakken/Shego. But that's still some awesome scientist slash going on there. XD
24) I actually never liked Icarus, but I agree his death was like meh. They dragged it on for so long, never did anything with it, and then offed him. Even though I like the direction the book is going now, I still resent the current writers for either offing or depowering so many of my favorite characters. Depowering Wind Dancer ticked me off, killing Tag broke my heart, and at least he's still hanging around being semi-useful but depowering David upset me enough to consider dropping it since he was my top favorite. Seriously, the writers said it themselves: if they really disliked a character, they killed them or depowered them. It's kind of petty.
25) Ne, but that's the safety of playing the obscuries, isn't it? Not having to fear fans harping down your throat about how poorly you're playing them. Although, don't interpret that safety net as meaning you can get make them as OOC as becoming the moon would make the sun. ^.~;;
39) I. Love. LeeSaku. And NejiLee, but that's irrelevant right now. They would make such a great couple, and I'm seriously convinced Lee would be like the best boyfriend anyone could ever have because he's so sweet and devoted. Too bad some of the fandom just don't think he's pretty enough to end up with anyone.

18. From the influx of non-anime secrets of late, you're probably not the only one trying to redress the balance.

26. I really did try to get into the books, I really did, but I only got halfway through the second before giving up. But then I'm not much of a fan anyway, not even of the movies, so yeah.

36. I concur. But then I do have a wing fetish. XD I also loved him in Galaxy Quest. XD

I'm still not quite sure how Snape is supposed to be sexy. I find him really unattractive, even moreso at the thought of him and Harry getting smutty together, I mean, WTF? D:

But yes. Alan Rickman comes close to being one of the only actors I actually like.

2: I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one. Gremlins scared the living crap out of me. My brother told me they live in the toilet and will come and get you when you go number twos... I was terrified to go poop for years. It's a bloody miracle I didn't develop some medical issue!

13: Don't know the series but the art is beautiful. I'm interested!

22: FFR is a guilty pleasure of mine. XD

33: I'm not familiar with the series but that secret made me night!

36: People didn't know Alan Rickman before HP?! That's sick! I love him in Robin Hood; Prince of Thieves, he was brilliant. He totally stole the show. I adored him in Sense and Sensibility too, he was so sweet. And of course, he was excellent in Dogma.

He just excellent in everything. Alan Rickman kicks ass!

It is pretty, isn't it? The manga is licensed and should be available in bookstores. It's also online here (http://www.mangavolume.com/serie-archive/mangas-hitsuji-no-uta/), if you'd rather not pay money for it. The OVA has not been licensed, and is torrentable here (http://animesuki.com/series.php/188.html). (The manga is better, though.)
