1. I used to get that feeling but honestly? Just be normal about it. So long as you treat it like any other healthy hobby (don't obsess over it, don't shove it in people's faces when they have no interest, don't let it become the only thing in the world you like, etc.), you should be fine. I've never seen a secret before that's actually made me heart hurt.
As lame as this may sound, i was exactly like that. I tried so hard to please people, to be someone else, to the point where 3 years down the line i had no idea who i was anymore.
All i can say is, i'm sorry you feel like that, and i hope one day you grasp the courage to forget about disappointing people and learn to be who you are- well, remember who you are and grow from it.

26) I've tried to read the books and I hate them. ;_; I find Tolkein's writing and plot development painfully slow and encumbered by too much detail. I wish I didn't, but find them just AGONIZING to try to read. If you love them good for you, different strokes, but I can't get through a single chapter without wanting to scream.
I enjoyed the movies alot though, and I'm content to just be a 'movie only' fan.

I love the movies for what they are, honestly, and I don't fault people for loving them as well but... er, I DO die a little on the inside every time someone states their undying affection for Peter Jackson's epics... and then follows it up with a: "But I just couldn't get through the books. 37: You see, I don't get why people go OMG WE HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON WE CAN'T BE FRIENDS because I do this all the time to a certain degree. If I count someone as a friend I don't care if they're burbling about something I've never seen, I'll just listen and hey if they're plugging it to me I'll give it a try. If I don't like it oh well, but I can still listen to them if they want to rant or something. Of course if they annoy me to begin with then rambling about something I don't like would probably make that worse.
