I'm torn on buying the game because I was a strict PS player, and have no idea what I'm gonna need to figure out just to understand what's going on in KH3.

Also I'm pissed off that I bought a PS3 years ago in anticipation of KH3, but that's just me being petty about how much time it took.

i don't think you're being petty, anon, it's pretty reasonable to be bitter about how long and how sidetracked everything got, even if the ps3 thing is your own fault

I don't want them together either but not because of the ho yay (though I enjoy that) or because I don't like sora or kairi but because I'm a little worn out on the "first love = only love" cliche. I'd rather they either end up with other people or if it's never revealed whether they get together or not

There's no reason you can't still have your ho-yay if they make the het ship endgame. This is kind of what fandom is all about.

The thing is, I don't want to bother spending money on the game if it's just gonna annoy me. I know I can have the hoyay even with a het ending, but...I can also have the hoyay without spending hundreds of dollars.

Exactly. I've always shipped Sora/Riku like burning and nothing will change that, but if Sora/Kairi happens I'll deal. Considering the series past, there will be more than enough ho-yay to keep you happy. (Seriously, remember this scene? And I've heard the ho-yay gets even stronger in recent games.)

Plus, even if it is endgame, I am sure Sora and Riku will have hoyay up the wazoo in KH4. The other games didn't disappoint if fanfic and fanvids tell me anything.

I'm pretty sure SoKai isn't endgame ever since I finished Dream Drop Distance. RikuSora is so blatant it's gonna piss off the majority of the fandom if they go any other route. And Kairi will finally have an active role in the series and her arc won't (hopefully) revolve around Sora because SPOILERS SPOILERS she can now wield a keyblade on her own, which is probably gonna earn her a big part in KH3. I think it's important she'll have her own arc, because so far her character's been pretty passive and her biggest role being that she's totes in love with Sora.

The only thing I wanna know is if this is the last game. Last one I played was KHII and I just don't have the energy to invest in zillions of re:coded1/2dreaminternationalmemories.
Hey OP, if you decide to not get this game, the new Final Fantasy looks basically like a gritty, disney-less Kingdom Hearts!

lol There will never be a straight up endgame slash pairing in KH. It's already heavily implied Sora has feelings for Kairi (She was his strongest memory, remember, that' why his clone looked like Kairi)

This is slightly off-topic, but as far as Sora/Kairi being endgame, I'm convinced that Kairi ships Sora/Riku as much as the fans do.

(And I personally root for the OT3 option, but I tend to do that any time the rivals for one person's affection have even remote chemistry together.)

Man, i think it is kinda weird all these people saying sora/kairi is endgame.

not cause i ship sora/riku but because Kingdom Hearts never struck me as a game that would actually make any pairing (beyond the already canon disney ones) canon. Everything is so much friendship this and friendship that, i really don't see them bothering to make anything official.

N!S: I am ridiculously excited for this game, and I'm planning on getting a PS4 just to play it.

Secret: I won't be that heartbroken if I can't afford either in time for the release; it'll give me time to dig up spoilers and make sure SoKai isn't endgame. I really doubt I'll bother wasting my money on it if it is. I love these games, but LBR, I'm playing for the hoyay.

The Kingdom Hearts series has been kind of weird in that depending on how you look at it, Kairi might be Sora's love interest... or she might just be a very good friend and the love interest is Riku, a boy in the same age group and best friends with the other two. Sora has shown concern for both friends that could be interpreted in either way.

I do think they're endgame, but it would be nice if we didn't have to see it within the games. I'm not even a hardcore shipper, they're just boring to me and, as someone pointed out, kind of cliche.

Yes, it's probably going to end with SoraxKairi, probably after Riku makes a heroic sacrifice so that they can be safe and finally get together.

But they are my one and only OT3, so I'd very much prefer a friendship or OT3 ending.

You can still ship whatever you want in fanon, OP. I ship Sora/Namine and I'm not even bothered by whatever ends up being canon in the game itself.
