Sorry for jumping on you--now and then, I encounter an attitude that shyness is a "Get out of courtesy free" card, but it wasn't fair to tar you with that brush just for pointing out that shyness can make even expressing happiness and gratitude difficult.

A co-worker of my husband gave him her book for me to read when he mentioned that I both write and edit for others. She 'wanted an honest opinion' of her self published book.

It was hard back with a MSRP of $25.

I couldn't get through the first chapter due to all of the basic grammatical and spelling errors. Forget the lame premise. It took me a week to figure out how to let her down without causing him problems at work.

Well, would you rather I'd posted 'sucks for you, it's never gonna happen'? I mean, it's not like any of us can see the future, so there's always the chance. Yes, it doesn't always happen, but I don't think being pessimistic was really going to help anything. I likely won't win the lottery, but I can daydream of it sometimes.

But hey, whatever. Basically, I was trying to be nice is all. So much for that.

My auditory processing leaves a lot to be desired, so I was kind of hesitant at first, too. But I'm really glad I gave it a chance!

When I'm all caught up, I'm probably going to read transcripts or poke around on the Wiki to fill in any gaps in my comprehension.

Yeah, I find that not being in a lot of fandoms doesn't help me much, haha. What I usually want to comment on are the wankbait secrets and I usually don't have the energy for that/the other comments.

In addition to what everyone else said, I think there are people who aren't shy or socially anxious, but who just don't do a lot of gushing. They can be having a really good time, but it doesn't show much because they don't express it really strongly. I think strangers might find it offputting, but people who are around them a lot can usually tell when they're having fun just as easily as they would everyone else.

(Personally, I have no setting between "FUCK YEAH!" and just kind of sitting there happily while people who don't know me well say "are ya booooooored? D:" every three seconds.)

Then again, they didn't say thanks, so they might just be a regular old douche. :/

I am interested in sexual activity with only one person at a time (unless the person I'm with and I choose to invite a third along, short-term). I find a variety of people of various genders sexually attractive, but I only tend to make romantic connections with male-type people, and I have a weird germophobic thing where I can't convince myself to exchange bodily fluids with anyone I'm not in love with (even to the point of sharing a glass), so in practice I mostly only have sex with male-type people. I like to tie people up and bite them.

Writers can't stop writing even if want to. Stories are always popping in their heads.

Still don't see how that "clearly refers to novelists" to the exclusion (as you implied) of people who write short stories, plays, nonfiction and news articles. Also, if short fiction, plays, screenwriting are not "stories," what are they?

I'm unpredictable I feel bad for this but I dunno I write what I feel like writing or feel something for at the moment.

I always worry that ever since I canceled a story I lost muse for that people are all like "oh she won't finish it she'll just cancel it again" especially about these two crossovers that I had that got a lot of reviews and someone who sent an angry PM demanding if I was going to update it or not when I was in a really stressful situation ( a job AND college). Since then I just...I dunno I don't have the inspiration for the story and everything I write looks so shitty.

Though on one of my other stories I'm doing well, if a bit slow lately.

I write things. I prefer to write fiction things, but I am currently writing non-fiction things (uncredited) for money. I aspire someday to write fiction things, credited, for money.

Yes. There's a million things I do wrong, or neurotically worry about doing wrong, when it comes to interacting with people, but "please" and "thank you" have never failed me with both friends and complete strangers.

See, for all the crap that comes out, I feel better about each one. If they can get published, so can I! Sometimes, it's the only thing that keeps me going in terms of writing - if Meyer, James or Clare can get published, then fuck if I won't be.

In normal usage if someone says they're 'writing a story' that means either a traditional piece of fiction (of any length - I never said that short stories were not referred to as 'stories') or a news article. If someone's writing a play, poem or technical work, they would usually be specific about the form rather than saying 'I'm writing a story'. (I can imagine situations in which 'story' would be used for a play, film script, or narrative nonfiction piece of some kind but in general those are things that have stories rather than things that are simply referred to as being stories.) [ETA: just occurred to me that at the place I work, the articles we write are never referred to as 'stories', even when they are news pieces.]

I think there's a pretty clear slant here toward the stereotypical novel writer - many of whom do exist, but they're not the only writers who write. If you disagree, that's cool.

Wow, I would have had some kind of meltdown and fled into the night if I had to let anybody but family pay my way 100%, especially a friend I'm trying to make a good meatspace impression on. And on top of that, not express gratitude for it? I've got all the social ability of roadkill, but that is just awful. This secret is giving me serious secondhand embarrassment.
