Dawnie? Is that you? Buffy will be so worried, run along home now.

Sadly, I've found that many of my fandom friends are socially awkward weirdos with no braind-to-mouth in real life. It's depressing when you think you've become close with these awesome people who have similar fandom interests to you, then you meet them in real life and they're embarrassing or awkward to be around. :(

I mean, it's fanfiction based on someone else's work in the first place, there aren't exactly rules on it. Jacking lines from another work isn't creative but I can't get all heated up over it's immorality. To me it's a lot like bad song fic. People just copy and paste a whole song and then write a couple of lines about the characters feelings in between.
If none of the plagiarized lines ended up in the published stuff, i'm not seeing the big deal.

Why not?

Hey, if you take them up on their offer to host you in return, at least you'll have gotten some reciprocation out of it? And you can see if they're more comfortable on their home turf/after they've gotten to know you better. If so, it might help patch up your friendship. If not, well, at least you got your money back, so to speak.

1. Cecil has a male voice and name, unless
2. Your headcanon is that Cecil is a woman with a man's voice at least sometimes, in which case
3. You've suddenly made Cecil/Carlos not a gay couple, so
4. You are a homophobe. I will sic tumblr on you immediately.

Omg hdu she's trans*. Don't make fun of her voice. You are transphobic. Now tumblr will have to hate both of us.

See, I'm gonna take you down with me. That's love.

Amen.

That Cecil is not trans enough. Clearly they can pass for a woman.

Also I'm offended that you'd confine Cecil to the gender binary in the first place.

Are you saying people who put a lot of effort into passing aren't real trans* people? You are erasing real people's experiences.

You started it by confining their sexuality.

I'm offended that you're offended.

Got a 6 the first time and then retook it and got a 0.

Zero. Color is my mutant superpower.

Either leave, or shut up about the shitty job.

I like dark-haired girls, preferably if they're flat-chested.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
+1. I suffer from SA and what you write is just what's going through my mind in the context of a social interaction, stupid as it sounds. However, I usually get to say thank you one moment or the next, specially since my total lack of gratitude and me not helping with one single bill would just consume me from shame and make me even more anxious.

Talk to your 'friend', OP, so you know what's going on at least.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! When someone has paid tens (hundreds?) so that you have an enjoyable time at their place, a thank-you isn't too much to ask. I don't care if their introverted or not.

The OP has already done more than enough to make their so-called friend happy. Why should they do more by accommodating such rude and impolite behavior? It sounds like people are expecting the OP to give, give, give while the friend takes, takes, takes.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
God, talking about money is always so awkward. Is assumed I'm just going to pay you back with the same hospitalities or are we suppose to split things 50/50. And if I payed a bunch to travel to see you, couldn't you put up a little for me eat while I'm there, is that fair? Idk idk, so much awkwardness. All kinds of reasons I don't visit internet friends.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Exact opposite here. I've never listened to podcasts, but if I'm, say, trying to pay attention to the lyrics of a new song and working on another task at the same time, I retain zip.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. If you can't afford to spring for food at your friend's location (even if it means you have to eat fast food), you can't afford to visit your friend. I would never, ever expect a friend of mine to buy my food, even if I travelled 4,000 miles and a country over. If your friend offers, sure, but never, ever expect anyone to pay for your food.

I'm getting a new bra. It's so comfy. Maybe some new skivs, too, if my employee gratis hasn't expired yet. And I had a bag of chips.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, sometimes i just really enjoy listening to other people

...74.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
You know what? I have debilitating social anxiety. I would just not behave this way. If the friend has such SA, then she really ought not have visited her friend if she couldn't handle it. It's not a matter of "hurr hurr, get over it," it's a matter of knowing what you, with your anxiety, can handle.
