You and me both, Anon.

Seriously, can we get some recs up in here?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-14 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Mpreg always weirded me out. Like...how do the babies born the bacteria highway known as the poopshoot not die from some infection?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-14 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I've read quite a lot of mpreg but would hate to read a baby born that way, Ugh. I've only ever seen it be by caesarian. Which works fine. Needs a handwave as to how dangerous it's gotta be if a man can't deliver naturally but usually it works.

*puts on my "let's actually take this ridiculous thing seriously for a minute" hat*

There's bacteria in the vagina and apparently for a baby to pick up some of this while being born is a good thing and helps create the healthy ecosystems of beneficial bacteria that we all normally have in our bodies. In fact, I've heard that too many C-sections can, after multiple generations of this, lead to people having less diverse and robust bacterial ecosystems and therefore women should, whenever possible, opt to not have a C-section if it's not actually necessary (also, you should not take antibiotics unless it's really important so you don't kill off any of your gut bacteria).

That said, I really can't imagine passing through an adult's colon would be an equally beneficial experience given that it's not meant for babies to come out of and there has been no evolutionary pressure to make it a baby-safe environment. It is merely a poop-safe environment. I suppose that if you're writing mpreg in an AU where men giving birth is a natural thing that can and does happen, you could hand-wave it as men having colons that clean themselves well and manage the bacteria that might be harmful to a baby.

I think a lot of us just choose to forget that poop exists when reading any type of slash/mpreg.

Also, if a story involves a dude being somehow anatomically capable of pregnancy, it's not that great a leap to decide the change in biology also covers safe delivery.

(plus a lot of kink mpreg has nothing to do with the actual baby at all, and is instead all about putting the guy through something. I assume there's happy-family-consentual-mpreg out there that has to think that sort of thing through, but the majority that I've read is purely about the kink - and occasionally results in a baby that isn't even human (shut up, monster!kink is a totally wholesome acceptable thing ok), so really isn't affected by human things like that.)

... i just kinda defended mpreg didn't I, oh god imma just gonna crawl away now.

Oh, well of the two mpreg situations I am close, one is very unspecific, the other had magic turn a couple of guys into functional hermaphrodites, so it wasn't their asses.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-15 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Why does everyone always assume mpreg babies are conceived and born through the anus? I've seen this complaint about "eww he gives birth from his ass" quite a few times now, are there a lot of mpregs that explicitly say they give birth anally (like just a normal anus not an omega self-lubing one you can infer adaptation) that I haven't run into?

I always assume they're a sort of hermaphrodite and have a separate orifice for that unless otherwise stated, and in those fics they all seem to be c-sections or there's some implied/stated biological adaptation for giving birth that way.

me 3.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-14 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Same.

But hey, I also never want to actually have sex and love ready smut. Brains are fun!

(Anonymous) 2013-12-14 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The problem is, and I know this is an unpopular thing to hear, but you will never love an adopted child the way you will love a child you personally brought into this world.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-14 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, man. I personally can't love any pets I haven't personally pushed out my lady cannon.

I don't think this is something to feel weird about. I mean, can't really control your feelings, but I think there are a lot of things people love to read about that would never want to happen in real life.

I'm with you in never wanting to be pregnant. I love kids, but the idea of being pregnant and giving birth is seriously one of my biggest nightmares/fears. I'd freak the fuck out if I ever found myself pregnant. It would def never be a voluntary thing. Though I do want kids at some point. Maybe.

Secret 10 - Pregnancy in fanfiction

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-14 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Picture is a photograph of a pregnant woman touching her abdomen.]

The idea of being pregnant/giving birth really weirds me out (I'd like to have kids though, but adopted ones). But I really like reading well done pregnancy fanfiction (including omega!verse and male pregnancy).

I feel weird about it.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-14 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
so what's omega!verse?

Similar case here, I guess. Preg is one of my biggest kinks, but IRL I never want children, biological or otherwise. :V I think you'll find that your situation is hardly uncommon.

I'm with you, OP. The thought of being pregnant grosses me out and I'm not sure I ever even want to adopt, but I love the idea of my OTP having kids and being an adorable little family.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-15 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I love being pregnant, currently on second and last baby, but I know that it's not for everyone. Adoption is perfectly acceptable and even awesome, there are a lot of babies/children who could use a mom to love them and would be much better off without the idiots who donated their genetic material.

As a kid, I used to wish that I was adopted because I had a terrible mom. Biological parents aren't always the best ones. On the upside, I hope I'm doing a better job, having seen first hand what not to do.

(And I don't care what the hippies tell you, childbirth is gross and painful. I only got through my daughter's birth with a mantra of "this is just a moment of your life and will soon be over.")
