Who cares about the Silence falling? Who cares about Trenzalore? NOT ME.

But he's also just a bad writer.
So there really aren't any redeeming qualities for me in Moffat Who aside from maybe some of the actors.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-19 12:15 am (UTC)(link)I honestly think he's either a speed freak or he has some rare form of unchecked, undiagnosed ADHD, because that's exactly how his writing comes across as. OK OK I am a broken record I always say that (tag me Moffat's-on-speed!anon if you must).
To be fair, that kind of writing used to work, for sitcoms, back in the 20th century. For a science fiction show, written in the 21st and set in all different time periods? Yeah, not so much.
They need to at least get someone who wrote for DW sometime prior to 1986, for the next showrunner, is what I'm saying.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-19 12:18 am (UTC)(link)Wait a minute...
Is it possible Moffat is the Master, and his new plan is to trap the Doctor in a labyrinth of never-ending plot twists from which there is no escape?!
...
No. No it isn't. I'm pretty sure the 'Five-ish Doctors' portrayal of Moffat is closer to the truth.

I don't think that means it was an interesting plot arc....

(Anonymous) 2013-12-19 12:15 am (UTC)(link)Someone once said that Clara isn't a character, she's merely a plot device, and it's so true. She doesn't feel like an actual character to me. I don't care for her in the same way that I did with Rose, Martha, and Donna because the whole series has revolved around the mystery surrounding her and nothing else!

(Anonymous) 2013-12-19 01:03 am (UTC)(link)So are all of Moffat's characters, that's nothing new. It ends up coming back to bite him, though, because when he writes gushingly overwrought scenes like the end of The Angels Take Manhattan, where he wants people to care for and empathize with the characters, I just sat there and LOLed at the scenery-chewing all the way through, because the characters were such cardboard props (for VERY thin story-telling) to begin with, that I honestly didn't care or "have teh feels" or whatever it is the kids say on Tumblr these days.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-19 12:48 am (UTC)(link)Think about it. Just try to imagine the events of, say, the first episode where the Silence showed up, only there were no funny rubber masks in black suits, we just saw the reactions and non-reactions of the characters. That would have ramped the terror up WAY more than the whole "Edvard Munch painting in a suit mosters" that we ended up getting.

I can see the arguments about him being 'sexist'. But the main problem I have with him is that his episodes (11 mostly) are so fucking boring.
I don't watch Doctor Who to see some overly complicated time orgy that isn't interesting enough to care about. I'd rather see a light-hearted, occasionally with some SHIT GOES DOWN plots, show. Even if it had questionable special effects.
Also, being able to give a fuck about any of the female companions (sans Amy) would be nice too. (what the fuck is up with Clara anyway)

Moffat's like those
crackfic writers you see in your fandom, that are very good at churning out chapters and new fic, so you always have something to read. But the quality is so inconsistent, you dread the day he discovers your favourite kink meme and mucks up all the prompts with low-quality fills that he thinks are so great and you guys just don't get how clever he is./projecting

(Anonymous) 2013-12-19 02:57 am (UTC)(link)Because it's not like he helped write The Doctor Dances. And had the Doctor explain to Rose how humans "danced" with a lot of other species, and Jack "danced" with anyone he fancied. Nope. The Doctor doesn't know anything about sexuality and LOOK AT THE FLYING SHINY OVER THERE AND A MONSTER WHOOOOO WHOOO SPOOKY!

(Anonymous) 2013-12-19 05:14 am (UTC)(link)(Not gonna lie, though, that two-parter he did from Christopher Eccleston's season, The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances... that's my favourite episode. If all his episodes were like that, I'd probably have a higher opinion of him)

But the NOT MAKING SENSE? I like to be able to follow what's going without a whole lot of speculation on my part. A bit is fine, but at this rate, I'm doing more of it than Moffat is!
