Due to your age you will find it quite difficult to find private accommodation on housing benefit. Housing Benefit will only provide you with a shared room allowance until you are 35 and this is around £250 per month.

That's the exact quote from the email I received. I have no idea why the age limit was set so high.

Without going into detail, it's not that difficult for me.

I'd had to wait to replace my last pair until they were totaled; I had a pair from like ten years ago, but the way my vision goes that wasn't much help!

http://spirituality.ucla.edu/docs/academic-articles/Gender_Spirituality_SR.pdf

I get so sick of having to prove the undeniably obvious here rather than discussing the meat of the topic

next time I'll have a swarm of people going "well how do you know less women than men have a penis??? where are your sources??"

Re: Possible wank inducer? Still "interesting" though

That first part about Bundy seems so poorly written. Like something a high-schooler would write in an essay. I see what you're saying now, though, about the overall tone being a little off. It's like it has okay basic points but the way they try and get them across just seems...sensationalist? Immature? Not-quite-right? Idk.

If I were you I'd actually bring this up in class (if it's the type of class that likes these kinds of open discussion on readings). If you can articulate a little better what exactly you feel to be wrong about it, it could lead to a really good discussion.

Me too. I have a kindle but don't think I have ever read a full book on it. :|

It is possible they just couldn't fit everything they wanted into the movie, yea. It already felt jam-packed; I can barely imagine much more being added (even though it didn't drag for me either).

Plus, apparently Cap 3 is going to follow up and 'finish' this part of the Bucky storyline. This is torturous for me. It sounds like Buck Buck is a much more central figure next time, so lets hope that means Sebastian Stan gets more than 15 minutes of screentime.

Re: How do guys feel about touchy-feely fictional guys?

[personal profile] maverickz3r0 2014-04-06 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
I like it, since characters who show no emotion at all, not even nuanced ones, are kinda really boring to me. And I think a lot of things go too far in the 'incredibly stoic' front a lot. So I like that there's a counter-balance, even though it does go far sometimes.

The whole 'aren't supposed to be touchy-feely' thing is what bugs me.

Dogs (Huge dog person, but certainly don't have a problem with cats)
Mac
Disney
Coke
Umm... never read either. So, I'll take a third option and go with Dark Horse (Hell Boy and Beasts of Burden FTW!)

(Anonymous) 2014-04-06 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
My understanding is that fridging now means "killing a female character," full stop. The fact that her death was used to move the plot forward is also bad and means that she wasn't a Strong Female Character.

Cats/fish/snakes, either but I have a Mac right now, both, Pepsi, Marvel.

Spirituality vs what you called "woo" seems like two different topics tbh.

But I am laughing so hard at you getting pissed that people don't take your words as fact. How dare people not know I'm telling the truth on this here anonymous website known for trolls causing wank!? How dare they! Also you calling this the "undeniably obvious" and then linking one old article on spirituality. Thanks for the laughs!

Star Trek, by far.
Manga, though not by far, I've just never really read American comics much.
Neither.
Don't care, I'll listen to either.
Addams Family is great.
Elementary, partly because I just genuinely really like it and partly because I find the BBC leads to both have really punchable faces.

and some of the branches of Christianity that for whatever weird reason rely more on the Old Testament

Okay. I would conceivably fall under your definition listed above. If you want an explanation, I can give you one.

With one caveat: I am not about to try and persuade you, btw, even though this is what you seem to be asking for; in my beliefs, ONLY God can persuade you/open your mind/write His law on your heart..and you still have the choice to turn away from that, even if He does.

We don't rely "more" on "the Old Testament" we rely on the Bible as a whole, in the light of how the First Century Church behaved/what they believed. Before Constantine and the Romanization of the modern world, before it all hit the fan. The early Church had NO "New Testament" because they were still writing it down.* The only scripture they HAD were the scrolls of "The Old Testament" none of which were collected together and/or canonized nor any of the other theological nonsense that gets the "scholars" backs up these days/causes divisions and denominationalism. ("A house divided cannot stand against itself.") They read the same scrolls Jesus and the disciples did. They read letters to and from the apostles. To and from other congregations. They sang hymns, which were almost 100% based on the Psalms.

*A part of me still thinks John would look at his third letter, scratch his beard, and go, "This? This is what you included to be preserved for the ages? A letter to the wife and kids? Are you joking with me right now?"

The secret was about the comm. It says nothing about Beverly; that's all in the comments!

Should people mark secrets for spoilers even if the secrets themselves don't contain any spoilers on the off-chance that someone might mention a spoiler in the comments?

They cut Drogo and Primula from the movies completely, didn't they?

Thank you! Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any good before pics from the living room. The carpet was really really gross, though. And after:

I can't definitely say, since we have yet to see the third movie. There might be something at the end of the third about Bilbo's life after he returned to the Shire that would include an appearance of Drogo and Primula.

That isn't really a fair assumption, though. It's completely possible to be both a dog person and a cat person, and I'm proof of that. I love and spoil my dogs and cats equally, and I lose just as many IQ points while interacting with dogs as I do with kitties. It's either "AAAWOOOOOSAGOODBOY'DEN! IS IT YOU? IS IT YOOOOOUUUU? OH NO, NOT THE KISSES!" or "YOU'RE A KITTY! HI, KITTY! DOES OOO WANTS A SKRITCHY? ARE YOU THE PRETTIEST KITTIEST?"

Why not? They happily ripped off LOTR for other scenes and characters.

You're right in that I don't like to get involved in arguments. Occasionally they're amusing, but overall they just feel like a waste of time.

and short and insightful

You say this on the day when I type up over a page of reaction to Winter Soldier. What hilarious timing!

Shuto Con (Japanese pop culture con, Lansing, MI)

(Anonymous) 2014-04-06 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Planning on going tomorrow! Anyone ever been? Anything to know? I get the impression it's a medium-sized con, but the panels seem geared towards a teen/college-aged crowd, and towards anime (plus the odd Homestuck and furry panels, neither of which are of interest to me). A bit nervous I'll feel out-of-place as an older fan more interested in manga and the odd Japanese game and movie...

No, Laketown is a podunk floating village located on the Long Lake, while the ruins of Dale are located in the hills close to the main gate of Erebor. They're not actually the same place, though Laketown is the residence of those people of Dale who didn't pack up and move away entirely.

fail to see somebody's justified, argued beliefs (as opposed to emotional conviction) as a part of their personality

So where do you think those beliefs come from? You're arguing for a spiritual component (albeit a wrong one) not against it, with your "duality" reasoning here.
