I read/browse the secrets and make a mental note of the numbers I'm interested in. I go to those threads that interest me and read the comments and maybe even comment. Once I'm done with those, I check out the general comments and read/comment as I'm going down the page.

That's yeowch in a good way, btw. Just in case that wasn't obvious! Yeowch in a that-line-sucker-punched-me way.

It sounds like you can accurately call this a crush. You don't have to want to have sex with a person to be attracted to them. I do agree that you have to be careful about how you handle it.

As someone who's been in a very similar position (minus the asexuality) and did not act as I should have and did actually end up seriously wounding a close friendship (not to mention destroying the friendship I could have had with the girlfriend), I would really recommend getting some distance between yourself and your crush feelings for a while, if it's intense enough that you're worried. I don't mean distance yourself from your friend, but maybe take a break from shippy fic that reminds you of your friend -- play a really involved game or read something you'd enjoy, but have been neglecting in favor of feeding the crushfire -- and hang out with other friends a little more or work on projects that are just yours.

I hope I'm not projecting too much of my own ish on you, though I probably am.

As long as you've given credit and made every attempt to contact the author about it, I'd say it's fair game.

Lemon/ginger.

Like, it seems to agree with my digestive system better than most stuff, so I'd been eating lemon frosting on ginger cookies, with a little more ginger sprinkled on them... or if the nausea's bad enough I just need to get calories down without having anything in my mouth too long, spoonfuls of the lemon frosting with ginger on it.

And there was this awesome fizzy ginger lemonade I found awhile back, but the only place in town that had it is really pricey. I found out last week that the same folks also make a lemon/ginger/echinacea drink which is mostly ginger tea with lemon juice, and was like !!!!! So last weekend I shopped around and turns out the same store that carries the ginger lemonade also carries that, so I picked some up... It's pricey too, and I have yet to actually try it because I'm trying to finish off some open juice containers before I open another one, but it's there in the door of the fridge waiting for me... :D

n a nicer way than the above anon explained it, being possessive of your friend is more likely a sign that you're feeling insecure in your friendship with him - possibly because he is in a serious relationship, and the dynamics of your friendship might be changing e.g. he's probably started replying on his girlfriend for emotional support rather than you. Which isn't a bad thing. But might be making you feel less valued as a result.

I would suggest having a deep, reflective session on how you feel about him, his girlfriend, and you. And also what else is happening in your life - maybe you're stressed or feeling bad about something else, and it's manifesting itself in you clinging more strongly to this friendship.

I've been the clingy one in a friendship before, so I really suggest you nip this in the bud now if that is what you're feeling, because it definitely didn't end well for me and it also isn't fair on your friend.

When you're the one person in a thread voicing your point of view, yes, you do need to back up your claim that "good taste" and "basic social skills" dictate that you are correct while everyone else is wrong.

I'm well aware of his appearance in Battle Scars, and I thought the ending where Marcus Johnson turns into a movie Nick Fury clone, including making his best friend turn out to be Coulson, was very stupid.

I also think it's stupid you'd jump to conclusions like I didn't know what I was talking about.

But the people in their late twenties and thirties who write horrible abominations of fanfiction? Even if it's still douchey, I feel a lot less guilty about laughing at their fic

I think it could work too, even though I do ship Stiles with Lydia too. But I'll be happy as long as Danny keeps showing up and doesn't stay single long.

The whole 'groot is Rocket's personal houseplant/muscle' thing made me think, "BUT WHAT IF ROCKET HIRED HIM TO WATCH HIS BACK AND THEY FELL IN LOVE?!" In a non-serious manner of course, but that's where my head went. (I've been in fandom too long, man. Wayyyyyyy too long.) I don't even want to imagine anything else, I just want them to be a couple and everyone to be confused (and possibly intrigued) as to how that works. Peter/Drax probably will happen because: visuals, but a part of me wants to see Peter/Rocket happen now. I would be there for Drax/Gamora or Gamora/Nebula (again, because visuals) but who knows if it'll happen.

I think there IS going to be a character death...at some point, they've mentioned it, but probably not in AOU. Hopefully not... Don't make me hate you Marvel. (Let it be someone unimportant!)

My parents were Trekkies in the days of TOS. We'd watch reruns and TNG as a family, and later my dad & I would watch DS9 together. Found out as a teenager that my mom was a *prolific* writer of K/S back in the day.

My sister and I shared a lot of fandoms - she got me into X Files and BSG and Lost, I got her into Supernatural and HP Lovecraft and glam rock.

My mom and 2 of her sisters and I are prolific readers, we trade SF/F books like they're drugs at a rave.

Going after someone for interracial dating seems pretty racist to me. Just saying.

I can understand that you're worried about offending people, since delicate sensibilities abound in fandom and some people can get nasty when crossed. Truly, though, I don't think you'd be in the wrong--but do what you feel comfortable with.

I agree with your definition and that's the spirit in which I used that term in the secret--it's not like they've never talked to each other, but they barely talk to each other.
