18. Well, I'm not much on Ben 10, but I agree that many American cartoons are amazing, although I love anime as well. Batman Beyond is still one of my favorite shows ever and JLA isn't too far behind. Yay for American cartoons!

1. I think a lot of people do that to an extent. I used to buy doujinshi when I was a bigger FF7/Suikoden fan even though I didn't have much money. Hell, I still spend money I don't have, except now they're on piercings and earrings. However, spending so much money that you don't have money for the essentials is when one should stop and reevaluate the importance of what they're spending on.

13. Meh, I guess it depends on your definition of furry? It sounds like you're trying to imply the less socially-accepted connotations of being a furry and not being a fan of furry-art/stories itself.

18. It still amuses me how some anime fans get on the offense when American cartoons are mentioned. Then again, some of the anime fans I knew were kind of... strange.

30. Dude... like everyone already said, comparing those two animes is ridiculous. Baccano doesn't really have anything to do with REAL mafia business, there are mafia references but it's nothing like the REAL deal. Reborn on the other hand is a typical Shonen manga who happened to start as a simple mafia-referenced SLICE OF LIFE and then turned into the battle oriented kind after chapter 64.

I love them both but for different reasons, dude, it's like comparing Naruto with Ninja Scroll!!! Saying NS is realistic when it obviously isn't.

My ex ruined Xena for me. She got me into it, and now when I watch it all I can see is me as Gabrielle and her as Xena. Luckily I never got into the fandom, so it's just about avoiding the reruns on TV.

I'm thankful I got into Doctor Who on my own and my love for it was independent of her. It helped me get through the breakup. Reminded me that even though life doesn't always go the way you plan - your heart breaks, the world changes, the people you love with all your heart come in and out - you move on.

I'm willing to bet the Doctor Who fandom misses you, too.

On a slightly related note, I saw someone a while back saying they'd be squicked by a fic with Pooh and Piglet holding hands. And I was like, dude, I can think of at least one incredibly shippy hand-holding moment between those two from the original books, off the top of my head.

8. oh i know! i know.

i never gave up on his character or found his decision at the end of s2 to be a setback. BUT THAT SCENE IN DOBS? made me cheer for him, because even though he decided to take the long hard path to get to his lesson, he learned and FINALLY REALLY GREW. ;_; i could watch that scene over and over.

(i loved his unexpected face heel turn too though. jbgfkg writing talent.)

30. Yeah Reborn really sucks in the beginning. I began to like it when they cut the retarded, goofy shit and got down to business with an actual story line that spanned more than one episode. It's also really unlikable in the beginning especially because the main character can't do anything on his own. It's not like I wanted him to start out in god mode, but having a main character with some form of innate competence would have been nice. I'm also not too fond of the whole "baby" thing they got goin on either. But then, that's one of the biggest gimmicks about the series.

I've never seen the other anime though, but it looks much more serious than Reborn. I'm not so sure you can even compare the two either, unless it was in the form of recommendation: i.e. if you like slapstick comedy and an unrealistic mafia theme, watch Reborn; if you prefer a more realistic and dramatic portrayal, watch this other anime.
