Ahahhaa, you too? xD I remember having them be my favorite characters and I wanted them to get along better and spend some time together, and I wanted an episode with just the two of them. I was like...five or six. Looking back, it's hilarious to me now.

I was a Roy/Ed shipper baaaaaaack in the day. I also was disappointed when Ed/Win became canon... not because I dislike Ed/Win or winry (I don't), but because it's so rare to actually have a "we were raised like siblings and they're my brothers who I worry about" female character who doesn't end up hooking up with the lead male, and that's how Winry had seemed until later bits.

Not that friends can't be lovers -- they can, sure, and that's fine when it happens. But it felt to me like FMA had been bucking a trend in favour of focusing on a different type of relationship (contrasting the sibling strength of Ed and Al to the much more uncertain sibling relationship of Winry-Ed-Al) and then it... stopped doing that, and I thought that was a shame.

I can't agree with you more. That's one of the prime reasons I don't care for Ed/Win: because it ignores and even detracts from the dynamic between Ed, Al, and Winry. I think it might work as a threesome, but even then I have a hard time seeing them as anything beyond platonic (at least in manga-verse). It's almost as if the motivations Ed and Al have changed to better suit the relationship shift, and that doesn't sit well with me either.

That, or I'm a bitter Elricest-shipper. j/k XD

I think anyone could pull off Utena. In my opinion, the only reason why she wanted to save Anthy was because she wanted to imitate and be a prince. She never really cared about Anthy until the end.

38. Yeah, I was a pretty hardcore slash-only 'shipper when I first started watching FMA (I'm not anymore), and I still ended up 'shipping Roy/Liza. I wanted to like Roy/Ed, because it was the popular slash pairing and a lot of people I knew who 'shipped the same sorts of things I did liked it, but I just couldn't see it. For some reason I can't slash FMA at all, it's weird.
