The whole "Israelis are the new Nazis" movement that I've seen popping up in Pro-Palestine rallies and facebook/twitter/tumblr accounts is probably one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen and I've been on the internet for a while. If someone is talking to me and they pull that card not only do I want to stop talking to them then and there, I never want to talk to them again.

There are other ways of making your point about what is happening in Gaza without going there.

That's because a lot of people like to use criticism of Israel's political activities as an excuse to hate on Jews in general.

IDK, man, maybe it's the circles I travel in, but I've dishearteningly heard a lot of "Palestinian TURR'ISTS NUKE EM ALL" type rhetoric instead, whereas "holy Zion" is untouchable/under attack/right to launch multiple airstrikes in retaliation for single ground-to-ground missiles launched at random.

Myself, I'm a pacifist (grew up in a Peace Church) so I'm, like, "Both sides are KILLING each other over religious differences. BOTH SIDES ARE WRONG."

This approach makes me extremely unpopular. With everyone.

I'm pretty far left myself, and I sometimes will follow a communist (or university-kid "communist") blog for a little while until I get sick of their spamming and pet issues.

The last one I followed was really anti-Israel because they're a project of the Evil American Empire or something. I get it, but it got tiresome.

So I started looking for opinions of lefty Israelis online.

So far I see lots of "Israel is acting awful" from Muslims. From an Israeli source I saw some protests that Israel is actually trying to treat injured Palestinians in the invasion, as if that makes the rest of way it's been handled acceptable.

Not encouraging.

And then there are the posts about "Jewish solidarity" it from Jews.

If you really are going to choose to stand with your own bad actors out of racial solidarity, then yeah, maybe you are part of the problem.

I'm really sad right now. Where are the voices for de-escalation?

It's weird. So am I but in a different way. Not the usual, "This music too loud and fast! It's noise." For me it has been, "This music is too slow and whiny. How do you even mosh to this? It's going to make me fall asleep!" I am having a hard time finding punk and post punk bands that don't bore me.

Friendship and standards for friends. Like how people stuck in situations or locations where they have a limited potential friend pool make friends with people who they normally would not (not meant in a bad way, btw). And wondering if my standards for friends are too high and myself are too low or I just don't like dealing with people.

Starting a writing prompt thread in GC. I've been meaning to get back into writing whatever again, it might be good motivation. I don't know if anyone else would be interested though.

I hate being always, always being told "it's a compliment!" to be called young-looking. It's a compliment when you're middle-aged and your friends say it to you on your birthday. It's NOT a compliment when you're a young adult and people say it to you on the job (even though they smile and pretend it is). How does nobody seem to understand the difference?

I was reading TV Tropes (what else is new) and I forget the trope name, but it's where two best friends are actually awful to each other - Betty and Veronica, for instance. And how this really doesn't play out well IRL... in my experience it either ends in a lot of shouting, or the friendship just kind of fades away slowly as one party realizes "okay, this shit is getting old."

I lately realized that my art style is actually regressing. I just don't know if this is a temporary thing I am seeing because I'm pushing myself to draw every day now instead of in short bursts every few months/weeks or something else.

On another note I should really get some new music to listen to. My current diet of Voltaire and that one indie/rock/metal fanmix is really not helping me learn for my exams next week.

I guess I've been thinking more about babies. I haven't gotten any pressure from my family (frankly I think they've given up), but my cousins have two new borns. So, I hear about them a lot. And my boyfriend and I talk about when we're going to have kids one day and what they'll be like. Not at great length, but it comes up sometimes. Except we're nowhere near financially secure for that, so it's not something we'd be ready for. Personally it's the whole biological clock thing. Like I compare my age to those mothers that are just having their kids to make myself feel better. Like my cousins are older than me, so they had their in the mid-30s and that makes me feel a bit better being in my late-20s.

And why was that movie called Wild Things? I honestly thought it was going to be about some evil aliens in the body of really hot ladies, seducing horny teens to inbreed with them and then eating their heads because that's how life goes. Instead we got... THAT.

Classic villain, Batman's nemesis, etc etc...BULLSHIT. It doesn't make whatever effect you're wanting when every time he appears all I can think the whole time is "WHY ISN'T THIS FUCKER DEAD YET???"
