19. You know, I always assumed Azula was just lying, period. I thought Suki was safe somewhere else and trying to goad Sokka into wasting more time. It didn't even cross my mind that she was dead, but I probably missed something. *woosh noise*

I can be a real pessimist at times, and considering the last thing of Suki was her presumably going to be pwned by Azula, I naturally thought the worst and assumed she was dead. It never even occurred to me Azula could've been lying about Suki, even though now that I think of it, it would be very IC of her.

I've loved Suki from Book 1 ep. 04, so I'll keep hoping she's alive. But thank you Secret Maker. I'm starting to doubt it now. Puun.

2. I'm a very big believer in IC, but -- if I can speak for sane fans of IC, I don't know about your friends -- it's a flexible term. I don't think what you're talking about is the same thing as being OOC. To take Kingdom Hearts as an example: Squall in FF8 is an emo recalcitrant self-absorbed jerk. Leon of KH is a confident character, finding it difficult to express his feelings but still strong and brave and emotionally committed to his friends. But I don't think Leon is OOC compared to Squall. It's just that Leon has been through a lot more -- lived a different life and grown in a different way than what we saw of Squall. The core of this character (not forthcoming, pessimistic, stubborn) is still the same.

You can be IC, if you experiment with characters, make them push their limits. But the core of the character has to be the same. I don't want to see Squalleon suddenly start giggling over Seifer's witty jokes and cry if Seifer doesn't love him enough. I want you to show me how he got to this new interpretation of his core.

That's all I ask. :) ...she says, like that isn't 750% more work than anyone will ever do in fanfic.

19. I, for one, would love for Suki to be alive -- I love her, and I love her/Sokka. Plus I'm pretty sure she's not dead: Avatar has never, in my mind, fully killed off a character. (Jet and Yue, for various reasons, don't count.) But my secret is that I think it would be amazing if they did. I would boggle and admire them for their guts and adore Azula for her evil. It'd be awesome.

Such a good way to put it. @-@ IMO, any (non-insane) reader can tell if you have a good handle on a character, even if your interpretation is different from what theirs would be. It all comes down to the essential qualities of the character, or the building blocks, so to speak.

4. That's a pity. Some of the best HP fanfics written have been cross-overs. Off the top of my head, there's googlebrat's HP/Discworld extended series of epilogues to DH, and the old classic HP & the Legacy of Light, a book five story with added Will Stanton by gramarye1971.

22. I agree that Xenosaga is way better than any Final Fantasy, but the third was my favourite, as the second game's battle system was so complicated and hard to get through that it was boring, unless there was a boss fight, not that it didn't have its merits. I felt the Third game really fused the first two systems together and tied it all together.

I disagree. Although I think they could have a truly interesting dynamic, and there's plenty of room here - BFF's? I'm not so sure. Maybe this is because I've spent too much time thinking Van Grants + Doctor Cid Bunansa would get along famously, but Gant is a different sort of man.

Van and Gant might not be entirely dissimilar in their methods, but I think their motivations set them apart. Whether or not Van was a good person, ah, I won't touch. But he did earnestly believe his method was the only way to save a world.

Gant was furthering his own ends. A younger Gant might have had a little more idealism to him, maybe, but the Gant we see in game? Gant helps Gant, end of. Van was far from perfect, but he did have a grander scheme in mind.

I do think they'd be amazing to bounce off each other, though, and there'd definitely be a power struggle there. But respect doesn't equal like, and I'm not sure Van would approve of Gant at all. What's his Abyss equivalent, Mohs? Except Gant does a much better job of it.

OR SOMETHING, hahaha, I'm supposed to be on hiatus! I'm totally not attacking this secret (I love secrets like this! ♥) but this is my rushed thoughts on how they might respond to each other. I shouldn't even be here~~

19. Zuko's also as unreliable a narrator as we can possibly have. Ozai pretty much made it clear that she wasn't lying when she barged into his bedroom the night Ursa disappeared ("Dad's gonna kill you! Really, he is.").

To be honest? She's only lied once in the whole span of the series that we can actually confirm, and that was in "The Avatar state." What she promised in "Crossroads of Destiny?" She technically delivered on. He was given back his title, heirship, and honor in the eyes of his father and country.

I think we're going to find out she isn't nearly so much of a liar as we're led to believe.

Speculation below - proceed at your own risk. The whole 'Azulon ordered Zuko's death' doesn't really make sense to me. Especially when I take into consideration that Azulon favored Iroh and Iroh cared for Zuko even before Lu Ten died. Azulon told Ozai, "I think Iroh has suffered enough." Killing Zuko would only make Iroh suffer more. I think (hope) that there's more to it that what Ozai was telling Zuko.

Not alone in the least. Women in FF games (Paine included, sorry;;;;; ) are highly stereotyped. I love the FF games, but they are coming from a pretty misogynistic culture (even if they're getting better), so while it makes me frown, I can't really say I'm surprised by it.
