6.- YOU'RE NOT ALONE.

Oi, let's be friends? I want someone to discuss Loveless with plz. Specially at this point, the series is much more than shota (man, poor Soubi, but the themes are WOAH).

12.- I agree. In my opinion, the flaws she's been given is for the sake of her cuteness, etc.

17.- UH OKAY I WANT TO WATCH THAT NOW.

35 & 36.- I haven't even played, but all the secrets about it made me wanna look up some fanart, and now I ship pretty much everything in it, haha.

AGREED. Then again, anyone/Franziska freaks me out.

HOLY SHIT G GUNDAM AND GUNDAM W SECRETS!!!! <3

[identity profile] raven-scarlett.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 12:16 am (UTC)(link)

5. Eh... I'm really not too fond of her normal art/fanart either, actually. Her colouring's good, but I just can't get past the lineart.

8. The first three manga volumes had potential, I thought... but then Maki Murakami started to transform the style into some disgustingly cute and shoujo-ish style, turned Shuuichi into a fucking GIRL, and the story just went to absolute shit. I mean, what the fuck, we go from senior high kids trying to get into music to huge-ass mechs crashing through New York... Also, Yuki is a complete and total asswipe and I'd have knocked his sorry lights out if he were real and I knew him. I haven't hated a fictional character so much since Umbridge and Ofelia's stepfather from Pan's Labyrinth.

17. I have never heard of this series until I saw this secret, but I must say I TOTALLY understand where you're coming from... I know the appeal of dangerous ladies all too well.

19. Your approach to disliking her is one that I can respect. In all honesty, I doubt I'd love her like I do had my friends and I not been working on a Kairi-centric doujinshi project. She got little to no screen time and as a result HAS no real character development. I understand what you mean by "dull." It's just the kids her go out of their way to make her a complete bitch that piss me off.

27. YES, G GUNDAM LOOOOOOOOVE. This series has so much fun, and I really wish people wouldn't take it so damn seriously; it's a PARODY of the mech/gundam genre, kids! That doesn't make it any less of a series. Allenby TOTALLY hooked me into GG.

28. NOIN LOVE <3.

47. I'm not big on the way the writing turned out in the epilogue, but I adore where its heart is, showing that life does go on after great tragedies. I'm also enthusiastic about the potential the third gen kids have.

49. Oh man... so many days in my early adolescence were spent in the woods at the end of my street pretending I was Lara...

Re: HOLY SHIT G GUNDAM AND GUNDAM W SECRETS!!!! <3

[identity profile] aardwulf.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Allenby's just freakin' adorable. I love her GLARINGLY OBVIOUS CRUSH on Domon and the fact that he's totally oblivious to it (although in a believably distracted "TRYING TO SAVE THE WORLD HERE" kinda way). Also, Nobel Gundam cracks my shit up. Always has, always will. Pretty Soldier Sailor Gundam, GO!

Just for kicks, enjoy Unclyclopedia's article on G-Gundam (http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Gundam#G_Gundam), if you haven't already.

Even though Wing as a whole kind of disappointed me, I thought Noin was pretty darn awesome.

6. I completely know what you mean! I love Loveless, and not because of the shota; it's the way it deals with emotions that grab me. I think it's a very deep manga, actually, and it's made me cry several times.

10. I'll be very disappointed if they do. Yeah, it's shoujo, but it would ruin Haruhi's character. After the whole "we are the romantic leads, and you're the homo-homo side characters", I've considered it a parody of shoujo, and I'll hate it if that's not the case.

19. Yeah, I don't care much about her either. I don't really take part in fandom though, so nobody cares. XD I wish the KH fandom ahd more meta...

36. !!!! I love this pairing, but haven't found any fic for them either. I'm writing something involving them, but I'll probably not be finished anytime soon. Also, I've trouble deciding how to treat their current situation (as I like canon-based fic - a real problem in this fandom). Maybe I should write some meta? Hmm...

45. YES. I love Sora. he warms my heart, he really does.

6. You're not alone. Shota is just about the last thing I'm in it for. I love all the psychological aspects of it and the art.

17. LOL, what is it about psycho women that is such a turn on? ;)

[identity profile] gefrierpunkt.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
20. ahahahahahahaha. Hi [livejournal.com profile] cftf(or Abby; most likely one of you two).

I have four siblings. My younger brother and I both ship Edge/Fran AND Phoenix/Maya. Chill out -- everyone is allowed to like whatever pairs they want. If someone wants to ship CREEPY PSEUDO INCEST they're allowed to -- no amount of BAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW from you is gonna stop it. Maybe I'll draw porn of them now, just to spite you. Maybe toss Phoenix and Maya in there too.

33. I agree, and disagree with this, really. I personally dislike Fran/Adrian (because... co-dependant woman are fucking psychotic. Anyone who tells you otherwise hasn't been stalked relentlessly by a co-dependant ex-girlfriend).

However -- Fran isn't really manipulative though; she chills out quite a bit in GS3. I say she's better with Gumshoe anyways -- you know, cos he seems to like the whip (or just can't get any more retarded. But he's awesome anyways.)

(Anonymous) 2007-12-26 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, not [livejournal.com profile] cftf! Or that other person.

If anyone WANTS to ship it AS creepy pseudo incest, more fuckin' power to 'em and I hope they have a blast with it. That way it's based on the actual dynamic they have. Still icks me out but then who the fuck cares? A lot of things ick me out.

The reason those pairings piss me off, this one in particular, is because they're treated as romantic pairings to the extent of ignoring the clear and present family relationships. That's what pisses me off. Ship it for what it is and shine on you crazy diamond, but don't ignore what they actually already are.

[identity profile] militarypenguin.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
20. You had me up until the second to last statement. I have siblings and still enjoy reading about incest in fiction from time to time. It's all a matter of separating RL values from fiction.

33. See the credits of the second and third games to get the subtext. Even if Franziska is a manipulative twit, she's a manipulative twit that Adrian loveslikes a great deal.

41. I didn't hate the movie per se, but I did have more than a few gripes about it--mainly the overuse of the SH2 monsters (which are creepy as hell when you understand what the meaning behind their existence is), the decision to include all of the town's citizens (which ate away all of the remains of the lonely, cold atmosphere), and the "LOOK AT ME I'm on fire", and, alright, the entire thing. But I did enjoy it, much like I would enjoy a bad Disney sequel.

[identity profile] pyrasaur.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
I can kinda see calling Friska manipulative, she just does it in a very open way. Like in 2-2 where she's all, "It'd be illegal to submit this picture as evidence, but the members of the court can't exactly erase it from their memories, now can they?" And her presenting herself as an authority figure and guardian to Adrian, because that was exactly what Adrian craved. Maybe Franziska's not manipulative so much as ... exploitive? (Semantics, yay!)

6. I understand what you mean. A lot of people complain about this being a shota manga, but it really isn't. Shota is SEX between two minors or a legal adult and a minor. THERE IS NO SEX IN THIS MANGA. Hell, you can't tell me that when you were younger, if some older hot person liked you and told you you were cute you would be a little curious... but I digress. This manga has is pretty amazing for exploring physcological issues... such as sadistic tendencies, abandonment issues, dependency issues, ect...

35. I've never experienced a pairing that makes me heart and soul ache more than this one... So you're not alone. Especially in fandom... there is atleast one person who understands.

46. DoC!Luc is one of the reasons I pretend Dirge doesn't exist. Maybe I'm nuts for seeing more potential in FFVII's minor characters, but for the most part, they're where the Compilation has failed the most, imo. There was a whole lot of potential to characters like Lucrecia, and I think that Squeenix failed to really understand that developing characters that weren't fleshed out originally doesn't mean "making them sooooo likeable."

The truth is, I'm mostly convinced that the problems with Lucrecia's characterization in Dirge was because Squeenix was trying to take a character who made a lot of mistakes and make them endearing to the audience. Rather than making Lucrecia the flawed but interesting character she seemed in the OG, Dirge makes her a cardboard cut-out, a wailing ghost who was completely helpless and yet completely boring in her helplessness.

But who knows, maybe it was the fan's fault for taking minor characters like Lu and speculating interesting facets into them, and assuming that they had more depth and maturity than the little screentime they had in the OG. Shame on us or something.

I've always felt that way too. I mean, I knew about all the popular pairings before I got into the game, so I went into the series looking for the subtext. I found Wright/Edgeworth all over the place and totally started shipping it, but I also sort of saw how other people could ship Phoenix/Maya or Franziska/Adrian even though I don't care for either of them myself.

But THAT PAIRING...I have absolutely no idea how you could even twist or manipulate dialogue to make it seem even remotely plausible. I don't care if they're not related by blood, that's not the point!

I avoided it for some time, not sure what to expect. But the artwork I love and so I was a bit curious. None of my friends knew anything about it so I had to pick it up and see for myself.

I fell in love. I tried talking to them about it but I was quickly shot down. Just as you say with the non-fans just immediately cutting in without actually looking into it. I make LJ icons and stuff now and then. . .so I worry that the more they see it on my LJ. . .the more they might look down on me.

Though seeing everyone's kind words on here, I am feeling a lot better. ^_^ ♥

41. It was very pretty and certainly a cut above most other video game adaptations (okay, maybe like, FOUR or FIVE cuts above them), but I found that the changes they did make missed the *heart* of SH, if you'll allow me a moment to be utterly pretentious.

Also, there were a few moments that honestly just bothered me (barbed wired tentacle rape, and we're supposed to lol because she was a staunch, religious, virgin bitch? Uh, I'm sorry, but Silent Hill has always had more class than that) enough that it soured my overall viewing experience.

It was sure pretty, though, and worth any number of re-watches from an aesthetic standpoint. ♥

Rinoa is one of those odd characters for me. It took me a while to get over my old case of rabid-yaoi-fan-hatred-of-all-things-female that I had from when I first played the game.

Canonwise, I hate her guts and you don't want to know how many times I had to redo the space scene just because I liked getting the "Rinoa was lost in space" message. I agree with all your reasons. It never seemed fair to me that everyone was pushing her on to him when he obviously didn't want anything to do with her. And when he suddenly feel madly in love with her... Well, that really broke Squall's character for me. They really needed to have more of a transition between "I hate you, stop touching me" and "OMG, I love you, I will now be your Knight."

Or maybe that should be; they needed to have one.

Fanonwise.... Well, I've seen quite a bit of fic that make her a damn likable character. Fics where she grows up some, where not everything is easy for her, where she slowly comes into the potential she had in the game. I've seen many fans handle her character --and the reactions to her from the other characters-- a hell of a lot better than what was shown in the game.

In other words, I like her but only in fanon.

[identity profile] moebot.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
6. The thing about Loveless is that it isn't... really even about the shouta, it's just an easy thing to focus on. There are way more heavy BDSM overtones than shouta ones. The shouta is limited to Soubi/Ritsuka and flashback!Ritsu/Soubi, while the crazy bondage battles are all over the damn place.

20. "Is that really how you think lovers talk to each other? Really?"
...well, 'lovers' talk to each other in many different ways. There is no set criteria for how people in a relationship (sexual or romantic) talk to each other. Anyone who's ever gotten laid knows this, I think. I don't even like Franziska/Edgeworth, but you make me want to ship it to spite you.

33. lol @ Franziska being "manipulative." That being said, I went into the games expecting to love that pairing, having heard so much about it and... was very underwhelmed when I barely saw any subtext for it at all. And I actively looked for the subtext. Weird. Mia/Dahlia is hotter, anyway.
