God, I find Obama so attractive it's embarrassing. People talk about Kennedy but…I just melt every time I see Obama. I may not like all his policies (some, not at all) but he is one FINE dude.

I normally don't have platonic feelings for guys that I am close with but I've known this one dude who is a close co-worker and casual friend outside of work for five years and I realized last night I've never had romantic or really sexual feelings for him. (A few sexual dreams here and there but that's normal for people I think about a lot.) Anyway, I kind of freaked out a bit over the fact that I have only platonic feelings because that's so abnormal for me. It's stupid, but there you have it.

I think people are unfairly targeting the police

I honestly think the current discussion about racism in the police force is misdirected. Because I have no doubt that the reason a lot of police officers profile black men as threats is because most of the criminals they deal with on a day to day basis are young black men.

In the past six years for example, every single time there's been a crime alert in my apartment, area, or university, the suspect was described as a young, black male. Every. Single. Time.

In those circumstances, what do you expect? That police officers aren't going to be more suspicious of black men? They're only human.

The problem isn't that cops are racist. The problem is that young black men have no opportunities and are poor so many turn to crime.

I don't think black people in actuality commit more crime. White people certainly commit tons of white collar crime. But black people do commit the types of crimes the police are likely to be called in for.

I feel like the police aren't really at fault here -- they're the canary in the mine. Yeah America is racist. The reason that racism crops up in the police force is because they're the ones that have to deal with the fallout.

But tackling racism in the police force is like treating a symptom and not the cause, IMO.

I kind of agree and kind of disagree.

I think, first, that even if you say that, it doesn't really address the related problem of police being too violent, and even more too violent towards minorities. Even if police views of black men are justified, that doesn't mean that the policies that police use are justified.

Second, I think there's something to be said for treating both symptoms and causes of a problem. Alleviating symptoms is not in and of itself a bad thing.

IDK the lack of police accountability is a pretty big issue regardless of the whole race thing. You could also say that the horrible racist killings are a symptom of the bigger issue that the police can get away with shit like that.

The problem isn't that cops are racist. The problem is that young black men have no opportunities and are poor so many turn to crime.

The problem is both. Both issues feed into each other and create extreme situations where you can't hold the environment accountable for the fuck-ups that individuals perpetrate. That black guy might have killed innocent people in part because of his upbringing, but he's still going to prison. The same should apply to cops, when profiling leads to a person who isn't actually committing any violent crime ending up severely injured or dead.

I think th false-flag theory for the Charlie Hebdo attacks is ridiculous, but I actually find it refreshing. People normally use false-flag to blame minorities for everything bad in the world. This time, they're trying to defend a minority with it.

I wish there wasn't this giant cult around your "FIRST KISS."

Like I spent years avoiding kisses on first/second dates because I thought kisses should be organic or some shit with the whole 90%/10% meeting halfway and just naturally flowing into it and I was always nervous and overthinking things. Movies and books and shows gave me terrible expectations.

Then I finally had my first kiss several months back. And it was awkward. And short. And frankly every other kiss with him was awkward. And we eventually broke up.

But now it's like the floodgates have been unleashed. There's no sense of "first" anymore when it comes to kissing pretty much ended every first date since then and it's nbd. New Year's happened and I was/am single, so I grabbed a random person to kiss for midnight. He started to turn it into my first full on make out session (though he didn't know that), and after a brief hesitation and I figured why not. He was there and wouldn't expect anything afterwards, so I used him for the next half hour as practice.

And that's how I went from Never Been Kissed to using random, nameless dudes for makeout practice.

I don't know whether to feel like a slut or super liberated. And I have no idea how this will translate to eventually losing my virginity.

Someone followed me on twitter, but I didn't follow them back because all of their tweets were like this: "if u want 2 hear something cool, u should check out this link" and "waiting 4 luv!"

Which makes me feel like such a snob, but I can't respect grown adults who type like that unironically.

I don't see anything wrong with disliking Islam and criticizing it (or any religion for that matter -- Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, etc.).

Arabs, Middle-Eastern People, Indonesian people, people in general can believe and practice whatever they want. And I respect them as human beings.

But I don't give a SHIT about their religions and I can and will criticize it as voraciously as I do Republicanism.

People have rights, ideas don't.

And people who say it's "racist" to draw caricatures of Muhammed can shove it up their ass. No, it really, really isn't.

I don't care about anybody else's sex life and I do not understand why other people expect me to care about their sex lives or find them interesting, as though sex were some magical rare thing that hundreds of millions of people aren't having right now

I still share a bed with my sister and I'm thirty. I don't think it's a big deal. It's nice to cuddle with my sister and we can talk all night. I never tell people though because they'd probably think it was bizarre and possibly subversive.

I've been searching for relatively cheap moisturizer that doesn't do any animal testing and haha... hahahahaha why is it so hard to find a brand that doesn't do animal testing why??? So instead I'm pondering on making my own moisturizer with aloe vera and see how it goes. I mean, my face might end up looking the Joker's, but at least I can say I tried!

I don't know how to tell someone I like I have oral herpes. When do I bring it up? HOW?? Does have to be a big coming out thing, or just say, "Oh man, I'd LOVE to kiss you, but I have this cold sore right now"? Avoid them like the plague when I have cold sores? Before or after we start dating? Or go all the way into a relationship? It's not like they're uncommon, but I got it later in life, and it's driving me fucking nuts. I'm like suuuper careful when I even think one's coming on but WHAT DO I DO INTERNET!
