10 - The thing I dislike about Trigun fandom is the fact it is hard to find a good group of people to RP with. I feel so lucky to find the manga group I am in right now and the one-on-one partner as well. It's hard to search for other players that can match them because I don't want to be disappointed again.

14 - Gravitation is a crack/brain candy spoof of everything that is wrong about bad yaoi. Anything with a giant panda robot blowing up buildings while looking for Shuichi has to be a spoof. And the secondary characters are interesting too.

7. .... o_o........... O_O!!!!!!!!!!!! B-but....but... D= (okay, so maybe I could see that and maybe it could be hot, oh god what am I saying) But YOU WIN for an ERGO PROXY SECRET. ♥

21. To each their own, but I would try something a little bit further away from the mainstream... I'm sorry if people have said this and you've talked with them, honestly, I'm too lazy/tired right now to go through all the comments and see. I recommend trying something that isn't OMG I'M A SHOUJO SERIES or OMG I'M A SHOUNEN SERIES, and maybe check out something like... Monster by Naoki Urasawa. In my opinion, everything I've been able to read by Urasawa goes far beyond the boundaries of what most people think define anime and manga. Or maybe check out Historie by Hitoshi Iwaaki... I understand what you're saying, I'm getting tired of seeing the same things in the same style over and over again, but as long as there are series as good as Urasawa's, I won't be able to keep away. I'm sorry if this sounds rude or uppity, I really don't mean it like that.

It doesn't sound rude or uppity at all. I'll look at some of the things you suggested.

I have no love for Fruits Basket but I think the main factor is it's over and has been for a while. The manga finished in 2006 and the anime in 2001, which means the majority of people who were involved in the fandom have probably moved onto other series.

That's just how it works the majority of time (at leas with anime/manga fandoms). When a series ends, the fandom carries on as normal for a while but gradually you notice that people start leaving. Even the die-hard fans eventually get hooked by another series.

I'm sure the fans still love the series but it's simply more fun being in a fandom for a series that you're currently reading.

14. Another mega-agree... I've ranted about it a few times about exactly that: they're too fucking dysfunctional. Shuuichi's such a whiney bitch who just takes all the physical and emotional abuse he's dealt and Yuki does jack shit to better himself or even show some goddamn emotion toward Shuuchi. Just, wow, I agree with you so much.

I'm wasting my breathe, but here we go.

WARNING: TL;DR COMING RIGHT UP.

First off, when it comes to hating a form of art, no one gives two shits what you're majoring in. Don't come on, pointing it out as if it makes you suddenly superior to everyone else; and even if that wasn't your point, thats what it come off as.

Second off, you lose respect for your friends if they like it? What kind of fucking friend loses respect for someone because of a hobby? Do you know how mean that sounds? I don't look down on a person for disliking the things I like, or dislike. What kind of look on life is /that/?!

Third off, furries? In my anime? Uhg. Go do some damn research, because the last character that was even close to an animal was Zorori. Human girls with cat ears are not animals and/or furries. Most furry porn, comes from the fact that people were watching a western cartoon with animal characters.

And last of all, anime is a hobby, just like watching sports, or reading books is. People like to watch these things, because they find it entertaining. So, its not just anime that makes someone "lazy" by consuming their time. A lot of people who /do/ watch anime, get inspired, and want to create their own art work - just like me. And without it, some of us wouldn't be here today, going down the path we are going. Anime may not be my thing anymore, and I may just watch my old shows, and Studio Ghibli, along with some other movies, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't deserve just as much respect as any other art form.

P.S. People have already pointed out and suggested what anime's and manga's you need to see/read so you can be like "Oh, maybe I was wrong", so I won't even bother.

Guys, seriously. Liking another Doctor instead of the current, is /not/ a real secret.

I hate to throw out yet another cliche example of "But have you seen ____", but have you seen Cowboy Bebop? Personally, in terms of story and artwork, it falls at the top of my list. I've known people who think most of anime is crap but end up really liking Cowboy Bebop.

I'm also curious to know what modern stories/art you do actually like.

This short response may have been a waste of time, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. In the end though, your opinion is your opinion. You can have it, but I seriously hope you understand that it doesn't make you any better than anyone else. There are many more artistically talented, established people out there than yourself who do find artistic merit in anime and manga. How are you going to devalue their opinions without becoming a joke? It's one thing to have a different opinion, but it's something entirely different when you can't respect other peoples' opinions at all.

P.S. From your ugly choice of background image, and the examples in your secret, I bet you haven't even given anime or manga very much of a fair chance. Are you really openminded?

i've been into anime/manga for like seven years or some shit like that
and back when i was a dumbass weeaboo i thought anime/manga was TEH BESTEST OMG
but now that i've gotten over that phase of a few years ago i don't have that horrible "OMG JAPAN IS PERFECT/MANGA IS THE BEST/ANIME > WESTERN CARTOONS" bias

though there is a decent amount of anime/manga artists who are very talented
just they are outnumbered by the ones that SUCK and have very little variation in their art, and pretty much use the EXACT same style as every other artist, and use overly simple anatomy and cheap coloring.
