9-I can't believe anyone else thinks this way. I've never thought about it with them particularly (I will be now) but I have with other yaoi couples.

21-I dunno what to say but like...your doing it wrong? IDK. A lot of stereotypical "default" anime stuff I can kind barely see your point, but art is art. 90% of everything is crap, in any genre, style, whatever, but I find making some lovely anime art WAY harder then like...cubism, for example. I pretty much disagree with all of it as a generalization. Dunno if you haven't seen the right stuff, or you're just closed off to it...

21. Wow, way to make us non-anime fans look like a bunch of pretentious, holier-than-thou hyper-analytical artfags. Writing off a medium (that's right, I said medium, not genre) based on the louder examples is pretty silly, even for an art student. That's like declaring live-action to be worthless based on watching James Bond, The Beverly Hillbillies, and the ouvre of Brett Ratner. I'd suggest some Naoki Urasawa to cleanse the moe taste from your mouth, but you'd probably suck the enjoyability out of that, too.

Goddamnit, two times I've tried replying and both times my laptop froze. This used to be really long and containing citations to the US Dept of Labor. Fuck it. You guys know how to google.

Short version: Writers don't make that much unless their name begins in "A" and ends with "aron Sorkin". The people were rooting for are the 70% that make $45K a year.

And real WGA supporters are aware that the crews- cameramen, lighting guys, techies, production managers- are getting shafted. That does not invalidate the WGA's cause or make the AMPTP the good guys.

To everyone supporting the strike: Good on you. But keep the crews' struggle in mind too.

When are people going to learn that you can't say something is better than something else when it comes to personal taste? :/ That depends on the person. It's ridiculous to debate it. It's like people arguing over Beatles vs. Rolling Stones or Superman vs. Batman. It's what you do or do not get out of it. It can't be measured.

21. I sympathise. Doubt many people will, but yes. I haven't seen enough anime to make any sweeping condemnations, and I know I'm missing a lot, since I don't get all the tropes and stylistic quirks, but still, what I have seen varies from the bad to the mediocre.

Of course, I like a great deal of stuff that comes from the naff end of culture. Well, naturally I do, since I'm in fandom. That goes without saying, really. But I do *know* that it's naff. And at least my naff doesn't contain any emo bishonen!

Because it really started to blow.

It wouldn't have bothered me if she didn't like slash....if she hadn't set up slash in it (Like, Haru for example never bothered me. Ayame being straight...fuck that. Gimme a break.) But even that and the art wouldn't have bothered me....if it had been WELL written.

But it bothered me more that she had a pretty epic story, with some awesome characters, and in the end she sacrificed a lot of it for the typical romance It wasn't the couple, or anything (Of the two I think I preferred Kyo, tho I think it woulda been more interesting for them to have given her up to someone new, but anyway...)

Akito's a pretty good example. I mean wtf. She had amazing plot And I love Akito's secret so this isn't an anti-that thing. and then she took all the bite out of the character and paired em up with a happy ending. Everyone's character was sacrificed for happy romantic pairing off endings.

Ugh.

Thaaank you. I liked the premise and the characters were original (and I loved Ayame so much!), but then... it just tumbled down into shoujo dribble, where everyone stopped having issues and problems and became this happy, faceless couple in the crowd at the hands of their twu wuv. I mean, some characters could've done that, certainly. But not... Hatori, and certainly not Akito (especially not with Shigure! I've never seen a more complicated romance, and then it was handled so... fluffily and flowery and wtf not).

I still like the characters, but I now prefer to take the anime as canon, because it doesn't remind me immediately of how the characters all became blobs.

Tl;dr... word? XD
