Clearly, you've never seen Hayao Miyazaki. I speak to people who don't like the anime/manga stuff either, yet even they acknowledge that Miyzaki's films are beautiful works of art. Despite likes and dislikes, I think most people have to agree his animation is damn amazing.

I'd recommend seeing some of his films (Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away in particular).

I got into the fandom for the robots, but then I found the slash and... well, yeah, a lot of it IS about the porn for me now. :3 The carsex is a gateway drug, you know. You start out with a little BeexSam, or Powerglide/Astoria if that floats your boat, next thing you know you've got Optimus Prime and three other Autobots clanking away. You can keep the mpreg, though. Not my cup of tea.

Seriously, I'm sure most of this comm has either been through or is currently completing post-secondary education that is just as prestigious as yours, so I don't understand why secrets like this need to present their 12-degree long UNI-DICK credentials before stating their opinion as if that makes it MORE valid. Okay, you don't like anime. Awesome, I think 99% of American television is souless, nationalistic, misogynistic, formulaic bullshit that promotes unhealthy obsessions with celebrities and the living-vicariously-through thereof. Anime in a lot of ways (okay, in MOST ways) is not much better, but at least it gives me some pretty pictures to look at and removes the creep factor of having to deal with fandoms full of people freaking out over what should be, in all fairness, OTHER PEOPLE'S PERSONAL BUSINESS.

All pop culture sucks pretty much equally, it's all a matter of personal taste. This is so basic and obvious, I shouldn't even have to say it. THE END.

I've never read Gravitation, but all I've heard of it is that it's a beautiful different series. All these complaints about it's creepiness makes me want to read it just to see what the heck is up with the differing opinions.

The anime series is streaming on Veoh (http://www.veoh.com). Or, it was when I last checked (might have been pulled since then).

As to creepiness... well, TVTropes.org uses a quote from Gravitation on the page for the trope "Rape Is Love". That only applies to the manga, though. In the anime, Putting Up With Being Gang-Raped By Strangers To Save Your Boyfriend's Reputation Is Love.

So, yeah. Kinda creepy. Kinda sweet, too, so I can see where the Gravi-lovers are coming from... actually, the sweetness and the creepiness along with Shuichi being INCREDIBLY ANNOYING give me mood whiplash. It's a very odd series.

10. I was into the Trigun Maximum "fandom" (what little there was of it!) a couple years back, though I was lucky enough that my best friend was Midvalley to my Wolfwood (OTP!) and we were able to have fun by ourselves. <3 So yeah, I understand how frustrating it must be to play a manga Wolfwood and not be able to find a good manga Vash, or even a Livio at all. D: Good luck with that! <3

Okay, I haven't even read any of the secrets after this before replying, I just went FULL STOP!

First of all... Where the hell have you been? I have seen more wank and BNF-telling people what to write and ship in Trigun fandom than in ANY other fandom I've been a part of. RLY. Well, maybe in the last year, two years it's died down and become a nice, civil fandom, but, OH LORD have I seen a lot of the bad crap in it. I think I was actually a *part* of some of that bad crap for a while.

I've seen shipper wars, I've seen "Manga vs. Anime/makes me a better fan!!!!111" wars.... oh, geeze almighty.

That said, I'm still in it, I've been a Trigun fan since 2001, I've weathered the storms, have an equal love for the anime and the manga, I write fanfiction, I make fanart (people seem to like my toma and Plant sculptures), and I roleplay Vash, and occasionally Rem (Mostly in AIM/chat with friends, mind you, but I've done message board type).

Collary: I just remembered a friend of mine who roleplays Livio, mostly on a roleplay board. While she seems dissastisfied with the current Vash there, she doesn't seem to have a problem with their Wolfwood.

... If you roleplay yaoi, however, I think you'd be out of luck - I'm not sure if my friend rps "yaoi" Livo and when I rp, I absolutely *refuse* to do a yaoi Vash, myself. Personal preference and all that.
