The stupid American health care system sucks. All of it. The doctors. The insurance. The pharmacology companies. They all need to get their act together. Who thinks any of this is a good idea?

So I finally got my referral. A week and a half after asking for it (and still haven't gotten my second). And I had to call in to find out it was sent even though they told me yesterday they'd call.

So I called that doctor. The first appointment they had was a week from Monday. Called my doctor again. They referred me to someone else who is not covered by my insurance. And those are the only two podiatrists they refer people to.

Meanwhile my pain is getting worse. Today was particularly bad. I can't get anything done. And I'm feeling sick from all the painkillers and running low on them.

I just spent an hour crying. I'm just so frustrated and done with it all.

Aw, that sucks, and I agree with you 100%. The whole system's FUBAR as far as I've experienced. :(

I'm sorry you have to go through all of this.

I went to an eye specialist in early September. I have a credit card to be used to pay for medical expenses but only medical doctors (not optometrists or dentists, not for glass, this is important!) So they deny my card, so I pay out of pocket, based on my insurance co-pay. I fill out a claim form because it should be covered. The credit card denies my claim.

I wait for the EOB from the insurance. Meanwhile, it takes the doctor's office a month to send me a bill. I finally get the bill and am able to piece together what I need to submit. I resubmit and two weeks later I finally get reimbursed for the initial visit and the bill.

So yes, I understand part of your frustration.

Damn. That really sucks (a week from Monday? Christ). I'm so sorry you have to go through this shit. *Hugs*

I hope, at the very least, the pain eases up soon. And I hope you'll be able to find a solution to all of this as soon as possible, too.

Gonna agree with everyone else about our health care system being shit. Sometimes I wish I had the money to move elsewhere.

I hope the pain let's up soon, and that you can find a different doc to go to. :/ It's so hard to find a good one that insurance will cover.

Could you broaden your search a bit? Like, drive a little farther if there's one that can take you relatively soon? If you can find a way to get there. Then maybe you could find someone else when the need isn't so urgent?

I agree that the health care system sucks. Like for my health care, I have to pay a couple of hundred a month so that I can pay $6000 before the insurance will pay anything. Thus, I never go to the doctor, as I can't afford it. It's awful.


As far as yours goes, is it only really bad when you walk? (As I saw in another post that you said you were staying in bed.) If so, could it be plantar fasciitis? (http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/plantar-fasciitis/basics/definition/con-20025664 ) I have that. Basically, while it hurts a little at rest, the real pain is when I try to walk on it, especially if I had been resting it beforehand. The only way to lessen the pain is to stretch it. Which I do by rolling my foot on a bottle. That plus cold and/or ibuprofen to reduce the swelling helps. Even if I am eternally in pain.

I hear this a lot from my American friends.

All I can say is I never thought I'd see the day when a physician would ignore 7L of urine sample that showed ketonuria/proteinuria, claims of pain when urinating, and excessive thirst/dehydration.

This apparently is just routine fuckery for said friend.

I'm sorry. Your situation sucks and shouldn't be happening in a developed nation.

I can feel myself getting more and more sick, but I have to go to class tomorrow. At least the weekend is here soon. Also I hate living alone when I'm sick and wish my mom was here.

So today, I found out I'm getting kicked out of my PhD program

But if I want to get a Masters, I need to finish this one class and write a document

Both of which I keep freaking the fuck out about and stressing because I'm fucking incompetent

I finally got an appointment to see a therapist about my eating disorder, but considering I'm going to lose my health insurance when I get kicked out of the program I don't know how long that's going to last

I've put on 8 pounds in the past three weeks despite the fact that I've been throwing up three times a day

I'm so fucking stressed that all I want to do is eat but I've already eaten 3000 calories today

I want to kill myself but I fucking can't because it'd hurt my family

I'm through with making friends online. The last generation was right, online friends aren't real friends. Every "friend" I've made online has turned on me and left me for no good reason. But luckily, unlike most people to espouse the wonders of online friendship, I have plenty of real life friends.

Fuck Windows 8 and fuck this netbook's too sensitive touchpad that keeps randomly zooming on the page or opening that stupid menu. Fuck what windows did to Skype. Fuck the very idea of converting my private computer session into a Microsoft account. Fuck the Windows update that erased Open Office, Adblock and the older version of Skype I had installed. Fuck Windows 8 to hell and back and fuck Netflix for forcing me to use Windows and refusing to work with Linux. Fuck Windows, fuck Windows, fuck Windows!

My friends IRL are fighting.

I tried to not take sides but now they're both telling me to. And they're getting UGLY like holy shit. I've known these people since middle school and it shocks me to hear the way they're talking about each other.

This morning one of them laughed when we were told about [other friend]'s personal problems. When I gave her a look that says "that's not cool" she just responded with some bullshit about "I don't feel sorry for her , she makes all her own problems" even though this is clearly a problem she couldn't control.

And now I have the guilting on both sides "if you were really my friend you'd take my side." If I take one side, I lose the other.

I'm so tired of being in pain. I'm tired of my foot hurting, my knees hurting, my back hurting, my teeth hurting. And now my leg that doesn't usually hurt decided to hurt today as well for no reason that I can discern. I literally can't recall the last time I wasn't in at least some minor pain. I want to say over a decade ago? I'm just so done with it.

Apologies of double-posted, comment seems to have got eaten.

Mine is a small, sad one compared to everyone else's. But the friend for whom I've beta-read for years, and who's beta-read for me, has started talking about what her “first readers” think of her original novel. No offer to send the thing to me to read, even though I commented on umpteen chapters of the thing and gave admittedly honest feedback which is what she always asks for and which she acted on. I've asked, in as low-key a way as possible, if I'm no longer a beta-reader for her, and made it clear there'll be no repercussions if so. Radio silence. We were such good mates, too. :(
