Non-fandom secrets

(Anonymous) 2016-01-16 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I forgot to post submit my secrets for the next week, so in honor of my stupidity, let's do non-fandom secrets. Go!

I've never worn a cute bra or cute underwear. I want to, but I feel like I'll be so embarrassed if I actually wear it. I live with my parents right now so ordering online's a no go and I'd die if I bought them in a store.

I haven't really either, but honestly that's because I abhor most women's underwear.

That being said, a store might not be a bad idea. It's their job, and it's best to actully fit bras.

If you go to a store that only sells underwear, then everyone is in there for the same thing. The staff in there won't judge you for buying underwear because they sell it all day long to lots of different people.

Also, barring wardrobe malfunction and x-ray vision, nobody will know what bra and undies you're wearing under your clothes.

Ordering online without trying stuff on is a good way to saddle yourself with bras/underwear that are pretty, but don't fit. Try stuff on in person, your boobs will thank you.

I would love to get a lot of pretty lingerie but I'd have a hard time justifying the expense to myself.

"Cute" underthings generally make me really uncomfortable because I have sensitive skin. :/

Re: Non-fandom secrets

(Anonymous) 2016-01-16 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I could wear cute bras, but for some reason, manufacturers think that people with boobs my size want dowdy boulder holders with super wide straps. And the cute ones I do find are way out of my price range and/or really uncomfortable. At least I can wear cute undies.

Don't be embarrassed about buying them in the store! I was the first time, especially because the only person at the checkout counter was a guy, but everyone buys underwear and it's not like you're gonna see the salespeople again. Well, you might if you go often, but they've got other things on their mind and likely won't remember you.

Re: Non-fandom secrets

(Anonymous) 2016-01-16 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Cute underwear isn't necessary unless 1) it makes you feel good to wear it or 2) someone else will see it and you want them to be pleased.

I tend to find "cute" for bras means "has bows and lumps that show under clothing and might not be comfortable even if properly fitted." I like wearing cute underwear, but I have limits for everyday wear. I've occasionally managed to find bras that are cute enough to make me feel good but are still comfortable, though. (I really like Wacoal's Halo lace underwire. I just wish they'd offer it in colors more often.)

Anyway, If you want to give it a whirl, I second just going to a store and not worrying what the sales people think. I used to work in a store that sold condoms and enemas and anti-diarrhea medication and acne cream. It was just product and I didn't judge the people who bought it.

Eh, I never wear that stuff either, because I hate bra shopping and it's easier to just buy the plain white/beige/black bras that I know fit me* and grab a pack of generic underwear.

Besides, who is going to see it? I mean I know a lot of people wear that stuff because they like it, which is fine, but for me there's no point when nobody else is ever going to look at it.

*this is easy because I'm an A cup and don't wear padding or underwires. I think it would be much harder if I was larger-busted.

I've been there. Mostly I'm in a better place now but I got to revisit that feeling a bit last night when I got hit by some really bad anxiety and was hoping no one would notice the way I was shaking.

Re: Non-fandom secrets

(Anonymous) 2016-01-16 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
All my life, I've been completely disinterested in the beauty industry and in fashion. I told myself I had better things to offer to the world than my looks. Then I graduated from grad school and found I couldn't find a job in my country's fucked up economy. At the same time, I also started doubting my other abilities for other reasons.

Lately I've been getting into fashion after a lifetime of dressing like a mess, and I've been getting lots of compliments. But what people don't get is that I'm only becoming more careful about how I look because I'm no long so sure I have anything else to offer ooooops.

Since my grandmother's passed, I haven't cried at the "normal" points - I was stoic at her funeral, and when we visited her grave I didn't shed a single tear or even feel a lump in my throat. But sometimes I have random associations with her and start crying. WTF, self?

The fact that I don't have autism but lambast autism-related inspiration porn makes me worry I'm stepping on toes and talking about something I don't really get, either.

But the fact that I know my friends on the spectrum would be offended if they saw (or when they see) some of the shit on facebook should be enough, right? Or isn't it?

Most of my friends don't know I live with my parents. It's expected and considered normal in my culture, but I don't like to tell people who aren't from my culture because I don't think they'd understand.

(The one time I did tell someone, she seemed disturbed that I was totally okay with my living situation and didn't intend to move out.)

I think the whole "Lolcow" thing is predatory, disturbing and basically can easily become a bullying crusade.

The fact that some people try to "create" more lolcows is really skeevy.

I don't trust people who actually write articles and wiki pages on "lolcows" and their activities or keep track of everything they do. It seems like the internet version of the Burn Book.

I get so jealous of my girlfriend cause she goes out with friends a lot and all my friends have either moved away or just don't want to/aren't able to spend time with me anymore. It's not a fair thing to be jealous of so I don't talk about it, but I am.

I have a sugar daddy; he's unhappily married and I'm good at giving attention (which is all it is, really, we haven't had sex and there's no plans to, just a lot of dates/some kissing and snuggling). I should probably feel bad, but his wife is a genuinely terrible person (I know her through family) and I won't lie, I love the gifts and the dates at fancy restaurants and the fact that I'm going to graduate college debt-free.

suicide tw

Some people have tried to push me into looking into getting prescription sleep aids since OTC stuff isn't working for me, and I always say I don't want to bother going to the doctor. Really, I know if I had them the temptation to try and overdose with them would be too much. Sometimes I'm really tempted anyway though.
