Absolute horseshit. I know it's fashionable nowadays to say that bad people are intrinsically bad and evil and can never change, but it's utter, unadulterated horseshit. It's just a way to maintain one's sense of self-righteous victimhood without ever having to do the hard work of empathy, education, forgiveness, or any of the other things that actually matter in the real world.

I, like a lot of people, did stuff at a teenager that, in hindsight, was bullying. I feel lousy about it now, and I make sure to never do anything like that any more.

Theoretically possible: in practice very much not so. Be honest. Most self-identified MRA individuals or groups are chock full of misogyny and at times terrifying levels of violent language towards any woman who dares step out of their very narrow line of "acceptable" female behaviour or challenges sexism in any way.

Fucking thank you. Why do people think Lily's rejection (or more accurately, Snape's response to that rejection) is why Snape joined up with Voldy? That's missing sooooo much of the situation with Snape - feeling like a loner in general (NOT JUST from Lily), being Sorted into Slytherin and spending tons of time with hateful assholes, being indoctrinated, and of course being bullied by James - those were all factors. I think the root cause was desperation to feel like he belonged and indoctrination offering him that belonging.

Fanon. His father shouting at his mother is the only time we ever see evidence of Elder Snape doing anything, so a case of abuse could be made for his mother, but not for Snape himself. Weellll, arguably neglect, but both parents would probably be guilty of that as there's no indication of who is more "at fault".
