I think in some cases, students are partly at fault for their own loan issues.

I'm not against loans. Not at all. I realize a lot of students need them to go to even a state school, let alone a good one. But at some point you have to be realistic.

I don't think education should cost any money. There's no point in offering it to the privileged alone.

My province used to have next-to-free tuition; the downside to this was that only the best and brightest could attend. Fees were in the realm of $1000/year, but the entrance average for most programs was well above 90%.

Then the new government jacked tuition fees and dropped the average to around 75%. Now rich B-students can attend. And a degree is worthless.

I think there a lot of questions involved in funding for higher education - but frankly, personal responsibility for loan issues is not even close to the top of the list. We need to look at it from a systemic point of view - what does it make sense to require people to pay for college? What amount of education do we think that people need? What is driving high college costs, and what can we do policy-wise to keep those costs down?

At the very least, even if you think college loans should play a role in funding higher education for students, the current state of things is obviously insupportable and irrational and deeply stupid. And that's not something that really can be put on the students. You can talk about how people should make the decision to go to cheaper schools all you want, but we have a system that rewards going to expensive schools and we have a system that rewards all schools for increasing their prices. As long as those things are true, college loans are going to be a bad solution.

Oh please. I bet you think people are ~entitled for wanting to raise the minimum wage so they can survive on their pay.

You remind me of a person I used to know who is a fox news conservative who won't stop crying and bitching about the idea of college and healthcare not costing an arm and a leg and how that would be THE WORST THING EVER.

I think people who are on welfare but buy designer clothes are wasteful morons.

I have my suspicions as to why they Stay on welfare.

I get this but I would like to play devil's advocate and say that just because they owned it, doesn't mean they bought it full price, because I see that assumption a lot. I am always super broke but I once owned a 300$ pair of jeans because my aunt is not super broke and is a shopaholic.

I own a few designer things, but they're almost never new; the thing about designer clothes is even though they're supposed to be better quality (and some actually are), people who buy them new often don't keep them long; they want the next season's clothes, not the outdated stuff from two years ago. I've got a couple of pairs of Peter Fox boots that I get resoled occasionally; I paid ≈ $100 for one pair that retailed for $585, and have had them for a decade, and expect them to last at least another. And an Alexander McQueen skirt that's really good quality; it's a lot sturdier than most of my clothes, which I wear until they end up in the rag heap. Between ebay and thrift stores, it's not impossible to own nice things and be poor at the same time. I'm not on welfare, but I'm sure some people that are buy their quality stuff the same way I do.

I saw a woman who claimed to be homeless panhandling with her two kids. All three of them had on very new looking designer clothes and both kids were severely obese.

Piggy-backing off of the Bowie wank, I think the age of consent should be sixteen across the board because I think 16 year olds are morons but old enough to understand sex and its consequences, but I would still judge anyone older than MAYBE 20 who slept with a sixteen year old. I don't even care if that's hypocritical. It's gross to sleep with teenagers even if I do think they're old enough to know what they're doing.

I'm mixed on this.

On the one hand, I wouldn't judge a 20-year-old who thought he was sleeping with an 18-year-old (but was younger), or who met a 16-year-old somewhere and connected with them before age was even put on the table.

On the other hand, if someone is well over 20 years old, and you deliberately seek out 16-year-olds to date then yes, I judge the shit out of that kind of person. If someone is over 20 and they find out their date is 16 and they don't even attempt to put the brakes on the relationship, or to even slow it down, then I think something must be wrong with that person.

I tend to give those of college age a pass, depending on the situation. The human brain isn't fully matured until age 25, but I do think there are some intentional pervs.

I think there should be a close-in-age exception with no limit, but otherwise I am good with 16 as the general age of consent. (Although, yes, people who are no longer in their teens seeking out 16 year olds is skeevy as hell. Also kind of boring and inconvenient - you can't take them to a lot of bars or clubs, they're not independent of their parents and may have a curfew or at least a parent asking lots of questions, and what the hell do you talk about?)

I agree if it's just sex, age should be 16. Dating and relationships on the other hand, is where it gets a little sketchy.

I like the look of fake breasts. A lot. I'm a bisexual woman. And on the one hand I think the plastic surgery industry and the expectations on women are awful. But on the other hand I'm really turned on by fake breasts. The big ones. Like I watch a lot of porn with stars that have really fake breasts. And I think Pamela Anderson used to be really hot.

I'm really not sure what to do with this. I can't exactly turn off the attraction.

On the other side of things I really hate the look of fake breasts but never say anything about it because I don't want to come off like I'm criticizing their decision or judging their body... even tho I guess I am... a little. They don't bounce right.

This is one I can never tell anyone. But...I sometimes feel really sympathetic for some serial killers. When you actually read up on their backgrounds (childhood, past abuse, history of mental illness), you can see what made them the way they are and oftentimes it is sad.

That doesn't excuse what they did, at all! And I think they need to be locked up for life because most are incapable of stopping.

The only way you ever truly know someone is getting smashed together and getting into some tasty situations.

You can spend twenty years with someone, but without that, you'll never really know.

Maybe somewhat TMI

(Anonymous) 2016-02-13 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Inspired by the above secret. I'm really attracted to breasts, but I'm not turned on by vaginas. I'm not sure whether to consider myself bi or not? I could see myself dating women. But if I'm turned on by penises and not vaginas, do I count even if I do like breasts?

Although, I will say that part of my squeemishness around vaginas is that I have some issues that make touching myself painful. So I've never exactly explored my own body so I don't really feel comfortable around vaginas if that makes sense. Even my fantasies around my own body tend to revolve around either anal or pegging.

I believe Israel really shouldn't exist. The children and grandchildren of the original immigrants to it ought to be deported back to the countries they came from (mainly America) and the space given back to the children and grandchildren of the Palestinian inhabitants.
