07. Bruce Springsteen is love.
53. But New Who is a family show. I love Doctor Who, but lately it has been so ridiculous I totally get it why you hate it. But personally I still love it, and Old Who as well.
67. Word. I ship Jack/Ianto and nowadays I really love Gwen, but Jack/Ianto fans scare me.

Oh, you guys!

[identity profile] ame-lj.livejournal.com 2008-03-15 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Boo hoo, I think this or that sucks and I look down on anyone who loves it and/or can't say anything because of the fan girls?

Really?

Get over it, ok? If you don't like something, just /move on/.

[identity profile] filthe.livejournal.com 2008-03-15 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
8. God must hate you xD

21.Couldn't agree more.

I have to say it:

Liefeld aimed for realism, CLAMP doesn't. Seriously, can't you see it?

53. WORD. I just.. don't get it, the way it's become the Second Coming. I like sci-fi as much as the next geek, but I just can't stand Who.

[identity profile] rosehiptea.livejournal.com 2008-03-15 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
16. Are you serious? I'm just as happy to have straight guys read my fic as I am to have anybody else read it. I wouldn't put it up on the internet otherwise. I hope fandom has room for everybody to participate even though it has also been a good space for women. (Though depending on what you count as "fandom" some have tons of guys...)

20. I would love some Judge fic. I'm crazy over that guy. Until I saw this I thought I was the only one.

21. But it's totally shocking to have a girl ship two girls! It threatens the space-time continuum. (Though I actually think shipping secrets are perfectly fine, I don't get why some of them are "secrets.")

27. I'm all right with telephone poles but crows scare me now.

Too Big #1: Oh HELL yeah. (And Kiriko? Yeah, I'd hit that like it was going out of style... I almost made a secret but I decided not to bother keeping it a secret.)

jesus, you're the first person that actually had a reasonable response to 16 that didn't involve patronizing the OP for being a guy and admonishing him to be polite and respectful and OMG WELCOME ABOARD!

[identity profile] quaedam.livejournal.com 2008-03-15 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
NS!6: I'm with you on the God/damn/hell, since obviously the metaphysics of that world mean that those words make no sense. But as for the rest--plenty of things must go on in the Avatar universe which can't appear in the Avatar TV program. Including but not limited to ~*~harsh language~*~. (Though I suppose it's possible that their curse-words are not the same as ours. BSG got around the whole 'can't say fuck on TV' by inventing its own replacement word. . .well, anyhow.)

49. Aw, Angela may be full of fail in many ways, but I do love her. She has her moments. &hearts (And she was weirdly adorable with Dwight.)

[identity profile] taistoi.livejournal.com 2008-03-15 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
29. Now I'm trying to imagine Jesus reading Snakes on a Sora and.... yeah.

All I can see is him shaking his head in disgust.

72

1. I understand what you mean. A lot of the morals and standards I have in my life came from manga and fandom, not religion. When in a situation that requires serious thought, I’ll often think to myself, “What would (character) do?” I hope I am at least getting close to what you’re thinking of.

16. More power to ya, buddy.

29. I have the sudden urge to make a macro involving Jesus and “DO NOT WANT”

34. ...But I like cute things. D:

40. KENSHIN SECRET WOO

50. Are you kidding? Tons of people hate Clamp. I think there’s even a community for it.

59. I love the doctors in every game, except maybe Rune Factory. I kind of love it even more when their name is simply “Doctor.” I lol. But for marriage material? Yeah, I’m always stuck between him and one other guy that I like.

21. Agreed.

21. The internet does not exist for you alone, sweetcakes. ♥ Believe it or not, there're actually some fandoms where you will get reamed out and flamed like an alien in front of Ripley for admitting you like to, say, slash the main character's dad with her mentor. And there are, believe it or not, fandoms where you really can't find "entire communities dedicated" even to the popular pairings.

22. Dear god, BEST SECRET IMAGE EVER. The list. The list!

53. OH NO, PEOPLE ENJOYING AN ALL-AGES SHOW?! PEOPLE READING INTO SOMETHING FUN AND COMING OUT WITH SOMETHING DEEPER THAN WHAT'S THERE?! THE HORROR! THE HORROR! Cry more about the degeneration of entertainment, why don't you?

72. Reiterating the above "CRY MOAR", with a side dish this time of "what the hell do you have against people having fun, and since when is RP an 'artistic commodity', anyway?"

N!S 2. I like the way you think. That'd be the reason I crossplay, most times, to be honest.

N!S 6. Uh. Since when do "damn" and "hell" have anything to do with any one religion? Also, why doesn't the excuse of "no group of teenagers and twelve-year-old kids is gonna sound that squeaky clean all the time" fly?

N!S 6

[identity profile] overlimits.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Not the OP, but I think the issue crops up in the way they canonically act. While they might act differently if they were in the 'real world', since Avatar is aimed at a younger/family crowd, they don't canonically speak that way. It's sort of jarring to see them suddenly saying things so far off from their usual speech, even if it's in an understandable context.

...I find you oddly cute. Like I want to hug you, and reassure you that you're welcome to read any fanfic of mine or something. Seriously, you sound respectful, and it's not like you're going to use up or spoil fic by reading/writing/reviewing it.

[identity profile] overlimits.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
14. Th-there's...Finding Nemo slash? D: Whyyyyy.

20. OH GOD, ME TOO. The Judge is made of WIN and GOD. XD

50. I agree completely. I've had pretty much every CLAMP series ever created stuffed down my throat, and I usually humor it and even read/watch the whole thing, and come away thinking..."Didn't I JUST see this?" It's getting to the point of rage. D: If I have one more person tell me that I just HAAAAAAVE TO READ THE NEW CHAPTER OF TSUBASA I'm going to start killing people. XD

59. That's...really cute. XD I have a soft spot for Carl, myself~ I'd want him to be my house husband and he can bake little sweet treats for us all day ;_;

71. I think they're nice. ;_;

[identity profile] nabreus.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
They aren't hers. I made a comment about it on the front page and someone pointed out to me that the icons are made by different people, so its not her. oo

67. IAWTS so hard.

OP #11

(Anonymous) 2008-03-16 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
YES THE ORIGINAL PERSONA. Oh my god I loved that game. The dungeons and Nanjo's stupid "I don't think we're supposed to be going that way" and everything.

Ah, the good old days.

27

[identity profile] ghn-hitokiri.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I feel your pain. I haven't been the same since I saw that series. I think something in my brain broke.

[identity profile] karma-kalisutah.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
52. Ahahahahahahahahaha. Because, obviously, girls can't be gay.

53. Yes, it's family programing. But that's far from all it is. There's a lot going on beneath the surface. The way topics like sexuality and religion are handled should have clued you into that. If they didn't, you need to go learn a bit more about critical analysis before making proclamations like this.

Re: 52

(Anonymous) 2008-03-16 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
52. Wow, totally missed the point, huh? The secret is pairing specific. If you notice, they're both men. Hence, she'd like to experience being gay as a man. Jebus.

09. I'm actually the same way. I even thought about posting a secret like "fanfiction has saved my life" or something.

57. I don't even know who the singer is or anything like that, and I love that video.

[identity profile] karma-kalisutah.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Also, when did "hit it like the fist of an angry god" turn into "hit it with the fist of an angry god"? The latter sounds like a threat of violence.

(Anonymous) 2008-03-16 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
It happened when idiots jumped on the bandwagon of a phrase without knowing the origins or the MEANING of it.

21: What irks me most is probably the "I'm all alone in liking/shipping/whatevering something" ones. I get annoyed because usually there are huge groups for anything you can possibly come up with, but also sad that this person can't seem to find the like-minded individuals out there. In general, though, I don't really consider "I ship it" secrets all that secret. I typically read them more as jokes than anything.

56: But Dexter does it best. :D

72: I used to hold a similar opinion. Then I actually started reading them.

[identity profile] tsunayoshi.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
I have very little experience with table-top gaming, and can't comment on the level of "artistry" involved in the pass-time. You can keep thinking you're above people who comment-RP. That's fine by me.

Just remember that at the end of the day, we're all nerds pretending to be Mafia members/dark elves/time lords while we roll dice and upload user pics to our RP journals.

4. I was quite surprised when I found out they weren't a real-life couple. They just seemed right for each other, somehow.

21. Those are always the most boring secrets to me. I don't think most of them are real, anyway -I think people just post them as attention-grabbers.

43. Apparently Groucho's kids used to tell him they wished Harpo was their father because he was so much nicer.
