However, I suspect that this attitude will endear you to (some of) the ladies.

Just had to say this secret put a smile on my face, Harpo was an amazing comedian and from i've read he was also a great person in general. I need to track down his autobiography 'Harpo Speaks' sometime.

Re: 16

[identity profile] flamingly-fey.livejournal.com 2008-03-16 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I know you're probably not being serious, but...

Anybody who claims that genders should be kept separate, that men are inherently going to wreck anything they touch, or that women are somehow "better" than men, isn't a feminist. They may refer to themselves as such, that's their choice and right, but feminism is at its heart a movement for gender equality. Not some kind of "EW BOYS HAVE COOTIES" movement, or a desire to put one gender above the other (because we've all seen how well that works...).

I'll, uh, be hiding in that corner over there if ya need me.

10. And Meteor Garden is just a remake of the Japanese original manga, so why bother feeling bad.

:D I adore both... MG was my first drama, and is pretty epic in it's own way. It pretty much started the whole TW idol drama thing, and F4 are <3. HYD is an amazing drama too, I love it.

Re: 50, 53, 72

(Anonymous) 2008-03-15 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
sometimes games that started out as a different format RPG devolve into the rapid response back and forth style which puts a lot of people off because that's not what they signed up for.

no comment about CLAMP or Doctor Who since I agree.

3. Hear, hear.
8. A+ placement, ahaha.
14. I gotta admit I kinda agree sometimes. Hell, even more shippy fic that isn't all about the sex would be nice.
16. I hate that that kinda thing makes you feel guilty about something you have no control over. :/
21. Usually shipping secrets don't bother me (I just ignore them), but I heartily agree with you on the gender thing. Ooh, you're a girl who ships yuri? Not impressed.
23. She looks like a Barbie doll.
36. That sucks. :( Don't let anyone ruin your dreams; you can't make everyone happy, and you'll always have elitists who bitch and moan about translations because NOTHING will make them happy except the original.
50. You're entitled to your opinion, but if you're going to be cursing every third word I can't help but think you a whiny bitch.
53. What's so bad about family programming?
55. In a way I agree (I'm the same way about Hughes/Roy in FMA; Hughes loves his wife and daughter way too much to risk ruining that relationship), but... something about your tone kinda bothers me for some reason. :/
62. I don't get the hype either.
72. Well, it depends. If you have a fantastic DM who manages to buck the way the D&D system is so heavily invested in combat, hells yes. Otherwise, I'll take combat-free character-centric online roleplaying any day of the week.
Not!Secret 2. WORD WORD WORD. Voluptuous women are fantastic, and I wish more people could appreciate that.
Not!Secret 5. Agreed liek whoa.
Not!Secret 6. I HATE WHEN PEOPLE DO SHIT LIKE THIS. Like writing Christmas fic set in worlds where THEY DON'T FUCKING HAVE CHRISTIANITY. Use your brains, folks.

3. Hell yeah, Wolverine is awesome.

55. Okay, dude, I know that's you. "I don't post at fandomsecrets" my ass. When you get back from playing Brawl or whatever the hell you're doing I am going to laugh at you so hard. ♥

14

[identity profile] shadsie.livejournal.com 2008-03-15 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
14. Eh, I primarily fanfic and fanart gen. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't wish my work (and great gen works by other people) would get more attention, but when I think about it, I'm in a comfortable place. I get good reviews by nice people and I feel like my consistant reviewers really appreciate my style.

In other words, the "Gen gets no love" cliche' doesn't really bother me. I write and draw what I like. I've been in one fandom or another online for nearly 10 years and have never felt the need to "jump ship" and write sex (I know I wouldn't be good at it, anyway).

Re: 14

(Anonymous) 2008-03-15 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I get good reviews by nice people and I feel like my consistant reviewers really appreciate my style.

and that is ultimately more important in the long run. so people write sex and it gets scads of OMGILUWRIETMOARPLZ? I think gen fandoms tend to develop a little more depth than that. it means you are getting people who appreciate you and what you write, as opposed to fly by commentors who are only in it for the sex and end up being fly-by-night friends, anyway.

And I'd totally do him too.

Re: 42 <3

Huh. I usually use the Cloudman chapter to sell people on the game. Or if people are interested in the 'badass' factor, the russian roulette scene.

8- Hahaha, I've had comments like.. four times on like.. five secrets. And I think the highest number I've ever had was 24 or something. That and my secrets always get posted on Mondays for some reason O_o
21- I lol'd. I don't mind the 'I ship it' secrets cus a LOT of of them are for obscure ships.
29- This shouldn't be as amusing as it is. Jesus might read badfic. Y'know, if he was bored.
51- It is? Maybe it's for the best I'm not involved in the fandom and just pick up the game now and again to make my house more awesome.
72- Eh, if the people enjoy it, let them do it. You don't have to get involved! I just keep all my rping to msn. Works for me!

I would say that depends on the group. My D&D group actually split in two because some of us, including both of us DMs, liked campaigns with actual roleplaying in it, while the others in the group preferred to play hack'n'slash with their tweaked and perfectly min-maxed munchkins. I personally loved it much more after the munchkins left.

Like everything else, there are *good* roleplayers and there are *bad* roleplayers. This applies to every system. Damn, I miss my old group now. D:

[identity profile] yui-hime.livejournal.com 2008-03-15 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
72) Fascinating. And what are your thoughts on yaoi?

But seriously, I think D&D is worse. The crowd is obnoxious, tends to rules-lawyer incessantly, and is full of annoying stalking men. At least on LJ RPs there's always someone happy to see you tag which reminds me that I need to finish hiatus and tag already.

14

(Anonymous) 2008-03-15 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
There is more to fandom than teh sex
Much agreement.

Love slash, love femmeslash, love het (write all three) and yeah, plots are harder than 'tab A meets slot B', but they're so much more fun. Sex is nice, but I WANT PLOT TOO, DAMNIT!

72

[identity profile] slowplay.livejournal.com 2008-03-15 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
72 - I play both. I've been playing D&D since 2nd Edition came out. Played a number of other systems as well. We play every Friday like clockwork. I also RUN an LJ multi-verse RP. They both have their merits. The lowest form of gaming is... There is none. People enjoy what they enjoy and that's all there is to it. And as a D&D player, I would just like to say, "Get off your high horse you pretentious fuck and stop making the rest of us look bad."

53- You say family programming as if it's a bad thing.

Because family programming can't ever have depth or be "epic." It's not as if DW is the omg deepest thing ever or anything (not even close), but it's by no means shallow. Acting as if something is lesser because it's geared towards a family audience is failx9,000. Plus a huge portion of online fandom is centered around kids shows and family shows/books/etc- including like 99% of the big anime fandoms. Adult programming/=/better than family programming.

Oh and I like the camp and cheesy CGI. It makes me lol. :o
