Macs have been known to be terrible in terms of software ports, especially for games, for years. You have no one to blame but yourself if you can't run the shit you want on a Mac.

you know, Apple works with many college campuses to offer their laptops at very reduced prices in campus stores for design students and other related fields...

I mean, I came into this thread thinking "gee OP, you knew this when you bought a Mac, right?" but I didn't assume they bought a Mac on a whim and I'm starting to get annoyed at all the totally black-and-white reactions in the comments. I'm sure they have specific reasons for doing so. Personally not only do I use PC but I wouldn't get anything else because gaming is really important to me, but gaming is also like, 80% of the reason I have a computer. For some people that's not the case.

I miss the ability to game, but it won't stop me replacing my 7.5 year old mac with a new one this summer. I just effortlessly enjoy using them in a way I never have with a windows. The latter just seems so... Yeah, that's a computer. It can be fast and shiny and high spec as anything but I don't know, I just love the Mac/OS feel and interface. I do done creative pursuits, but not enough to justify it. Still - I chalk it up as an investment.

But regardless; kinda same, OP! Try just finding some friends with a console? My flat have an Xbox 360, PS4 and Wii between us so we share.

I've heard that people have been able to play it through Bootcamp. Is the problem that your Mac isn't powerful enough?

If the Mac isn't powerful enough that tells me it's old enough to be replaced -- at which point you might as well just buy a new PC if you're at all interested in gaming.

Install windows on your Mac via bootcamp for when you want to play PC games. done.

Use your mac for all the really cool stuff. I hate my PC that I have to use for work, so I made them buy me a Mac laptop as well for everything but the PC-only work apps (there are two). The PC is clunky and slow and every time an application crashes (which is all the time) the memory clean up is half-assed. OSX is so much cleaner an OS it's not even funny. I haven't rebooted my mac system in ages and don't need to.

PC users don't talk about that, though. Hah.

I feel ya OP. I'm on a late 2009 IMac and when I replace it I will likely replace it with a new shiny iMac, and I do understand - windows = gaming - but that doesn't mean I don't still get sad over new release games that aren't natively supported, especially when Blizzard have supported Macs for their other games, like Diablo 3 and WoW, so why not Overwatch too?

That's a weird decision on Blizzard's part then.

I'm pretty sure they used to be one of the few companies who'd make their games for Mac as well, at least back in the days of Warcraft III and such. (Not sure about more recent games.)

Bootcamp, Parallels, VMware Fusion, VirtualBox...

There are a lot of ways to nicely run Windows on a Mac and thusly game on them. Most of the people who I worked with at Apple would do this for PC games they wanted! :)
