Shorts under a skirt would be so uncomfortable. If you know how to move and sit in a skirt, even a short one won't show your undies, and just normal turning or a breezy day generally isn't enough to make *any* skirt flare up like that, unless it's made of some kind of gauze or something.

I've always just worn regular underwear under skirts; which for me are usually pretty darn boring hip-huggers or bikini-style panties. Of course, the "view" is often obscured (or enhanced? I have no idea what people peaking up skirts are going for) by pantyhose depending on how stylish I want my legs to look.... so I guess anybody trying to sneak a peak up my dress has a fairly even chance of getting an eyeful.

I wear shorts under skirts/dresses cause the chafing if the tighs gets so bad after a time... it burns. Q_Q I still want to wear skirts/dresses occasionally, so that is the only solution. Well, or that certain spray that makes your legs feel like you're sort of wearing tigths.

I mostly just hate panty shots or that weird book wriggling, cause it takes me out of the scene. It's like "let's stop the action to show this right now!". Plus it never looks natural, even in anime that otherwise take care to look as realistic as possible when it comes to movements. I know it's a fantasy or whatever, but it just looks so silly to me. :/ (It's a bit better in stills like the one above, cause it's just a snapshot of a movement that could possible happen, but as soon as it moves...nope.)

I don't think I've ever worn shorts under a skirt or my school uniforms.

I remember netball had a rule about wearing scungies over underwear during games. I guess they wanted us to look identical and hideous so the boys wouldn't be perverted by our butts or something. They're like baggy swimming bottoms. I hated them so much.

I only use skirts and dresses that are skintight and/or made from heavy material so it stays in place.

Yes, wind does occasionally blow up skirts. Yes, talc doesn't work for everyone on preventing chub rub. Yes, you can find shorts that are both long enough and subtle enough to wear under a skirt. Yes, some people just prefer that configuration, no chub rub required.

Like...have some imagination or basic reasoning skills, people. You =/= everybody.

I'm with you, OP, I could never wear a skirt or a dress without some mini shorts, just not how I roll. But the reason I hate panty shots is because they often show up at the weirdest times. In a funny or sexy scene, okay, but not like in K: Missing Kings, where a dramatic shot was framed from between a female character's legs, with her panty crotch crowning the head of one of the main characters. The context was completely humorless and it just made a cool moment absurd for no apparent reason.

I always wear thin shorts underneath my dresses and skirts because I get rashes on my thighs if I don't. I've tried other methods, but for me, shorts are the only things that prevent chub rub.

I don't mind panty shots in anime or manga as long as they're not happening every five seconds/panels.

Have you ever been to Japan, OP? Some of the school uniform skirts are really that short. I don't mind panty shots in anime as long as they aren't happening all of the time.

There's so much variety in these replies lol... I always wear shorts underneath, cause of chub rub, too. I hate that word. But anyway, I've tried the deodorant thing too, which helps. But I do prefer shorts, and oddly don't find it uncomfortable. Especially as backup in cosplay.

Also, panty shots don't really bother me unless it's excessive. But I got into anime in the 90s and that stuff was everywhere, even in shows that weren't really fanservicey, most anime just played up tropes and that was one of them.

As a lady who always wears tights with skirts/dresses, I will never understand how some women go out with nothing but underpants with skirts. It's so uncomfortable to me and I'd be constantly paranoid over bending over, sitting down, gusts of wind, assholes looking for creepshots, etc.
