There are different kinds of vaccines. Some of them use viruses that are already dead, and those are generally safe. Others use viruses that are alive but weakened, and those do carry a small amount of risk, which becomes larger if your immune system is already weak. Because my immune system does not work right, I can't safely have live vaccines, so my survival is dependent on healthy, non-immunocompromised people being vaccinated and not spreading the disease to me. (And I do mean survival--if I can't even handle a weakened disease, I can't handle one at full strength.)

John Hurt is the only Winston Smith for me. He was almost exactly who I had in mind when I read the book the first time, and the 1956 film disappointed me so much it almost put me off film adaptations. But the 1984 version is phenomenal.

I like fics where people get their hair washed for them. Super relaxing.

When it comes to original fiction, I find that I can't concentrate if I'm too upset so I don't tend to read comforting books. Fics are generally fine because I don't need to pay too much attention.

He learned JACK SHIT.

He never apologized for the stuff he said and did, and it wasn't just one isolated incident. He's homophobic, racist, anti-semitic and he abuses women.

The only reason he's keeping low is because nobody's hiring him anymore.

When I'm angry, I listen to Simpsons songs. "We Put the Spring in Springfield," "Happy Just the Way We Are," "Underwater Wonderland," and any of Lurleen Lumpkin's songs most especially.

When I'm sad, or if I'm angry with my mother specifically, I've found that watching the film Penelope really helps. Tangled, too.

The A Softer World comics help when I'm sad too.
Honestly anything that's familiar is a comfort to me.

On sick days I generally sleep or read on my kindle in bed.

When playing hooky, I am usually sleeping and playing games. Sometimes, I feel guilty about playing hooky so I will clean the house to make me feel better. :P

Yeah, all the horrible stuff pushed in by the Puppies failed to get the award. Best Related Work had no award given at all. (Kind of unfortunate, actually--the book-length analysis of the writings of Gene Wolf looked pretty interesting, but it happened to be published by the asshole who ran the Rabid Puppies.)

To eliminate odor:
Mix vodka (or distilled white vinegar) with water, spray into your shoes and let air dry from 30min to a few hours.
I prefer vodka because it's odorless but vinegar loses its smell after a while as long as you don't use too much.

To keep them from becoming smelly, keep them dry. Use foot powder if you have to.

I get my nails done professionally occasionally. I get pedicures a lot because I accumulate a lot of dead skin on my heels. Sometimes I get manicures in addition to pedicures. Sometimes I paint my own nails. If I'm going to the nail salon, I usually choose a color that I think fits the month at hand. Sometimes I'll get nail art/designs, but not very often.

It was considered a "related work" because a lot of it refers to SF/F circles in the 1960s and 1970s, because that's where Greyland grew up. I feel very sorry for Greyland growing up with two pedophile parents, but nonetheless it was shitty for the Puppies to get behind this and promote it because of their own agenda.
