Yes, of course! I can't say I kept super up to date with it, but the few times I saw her she seemed to genuinely believe her own crap...which does make it a bit different for me.

I'm not a huge fan of her on-stage personality. It's not because it's sexualized; it's because she's trying to be gross and crass, not sexual, in my opinion. I prefer it to be a bit more toned down and no so childish.

But I would never tell her to stop; I just don't go see her in concert.

Now, off-stage, such as in interviews, I think she's a pretty awesome person. Not that she hasn't had mis-steps; we all have, but overall, I like her.

I love when there's a foreign language that I can try to understand, whether spoken or in writing.

Well, let's just hope there's no massive increase in homeschooling because of it.

Shoes in costume dramas/period pieces. Do they look like they've been mass produced or hand cobbled. I don't know why I notice, I don't even like shoes.

I like it when shows have characters who aren't pretty criers. I always kind of laugh when a character starts sobbing on tv and they're the picture of beauty and perfection with crystalline tears flowing gently down their face instead of a bawling, gross mess. Most people irl just don't look super attractive when they're full-on crying and I get a weird sense of appreciation when media reflects this

The biggest example I can think of for this is One Piece. Whenever a character in One Piece breaks down, they're generally a total, snotty wreck (even the pretty female characters) and I've always liked that.

Another example is Sam Winchester in Supernatural. I love watching Sam cry so much that I think I might have a genuine problem. He's always such a mess when he cries that it makes his devastation seem a lot more real

Ah yeah that's the good stuff

Much more novel type of crazy than the anti vaxxers

For some people, seeing their identities represented in media is important. It is also a step in normalization and reduction of stigma. It's OK that it's not important to you as a queer person, but I can definitely see why people want it.

I feel like I should recognize this manga but I'm not placing it. :\a

Nails, anyone?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you get your nails done? Do you do them yourself? Or do you not care about your nails? If you do them (or get them done), what's your favorite color polish or do you prefer nail art/designs?

Most Comforting Fiction

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
What kinds of fiction - genres, tropes, etc - do you find most comforting? What do you turn to when you're down?

Same question for fanfiction as well - what is the most reliable comforting stuff for you?

DEAR TIME TRAVELLER FROM 2013

I don't know what changes you're making to the timeline you're making while you cast your thoughts about the 2013 VMAs into the future but stop it, Donald Trump might be president and I suspect a butterfly effect

Yeah, I'm sure OP is a gay man. It's always the gay men banging on about representation.

As someone who thinks anti-vaxxers are dangerous and wrong, I'm gonna have to go with "nah."

I'm surprised by the amount of negative comments this secret has garnered...

When the background flowers and foliage actually line up with the season the episode is supposedly set in. So often a show is set in the month it is set to air, but filmed at literally the opposite month of the year. That is how you get daffodils and tulips in full flower in September, bare trees in July, and the lush woodlands of January in tv land (if you are in the devil's hemisphere, then just move those months around til it makes sense for whatever weird shit you have down there). When a prop master or scenery coordinator takes time to get that right (especially in indoor shot dramas where it is really only seen through windows) it really makes my day.

I also like when it is set in the Canadian rainforest, because X-files nostalgia.

You're that person who thinks due process is bullshit and book burning is okay, aren't you?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about OP, but there definitely are people who do care about representation of people like them. It's not all shippers if that's what you're implying here.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, a lot of people would feel the same.

Why this comment hasn't been frozen but philstar's reply is, I don't know. Either way you've got some growing up to do.

I like it when a character is a lefty, and it's not actually called attention to in the show, you just have to notice that they do handedness-dependent things with their left hand. It's just kind of cool to me when the creators don't default everyone to being a righty.

Sorry you are upset about still wanting Jenny dead.
