34) My through is that Jack didn't wake up to life until the conditions were such that he could survive (air) -- so he spent 1900 years as unthinking dead -- his body held in stasis by the whole being a fixed point in time thing. In that sense the two millenia only seemed like a few minutes for him, and hense the lack of bitterness. After all, he's died a fair number of times, he can die once as punishment.

Tosh... it was a pretty death, but my goodness what a waste of a good character.

I love Miyazaki. He makes great family films. But Kon makes great adult films. Every time I hear Miyazaki is coming out with a new movie I think, "Oh, it's going to look gorgeous." When it's Kon, I think, "Oh, I can't wait to hear the plot."

I only wish Kon would make more films. He's like an anime sci-fi Hitchcock wrapped in a Ridley Scott.

I hear ya on that. I think it has something to do with getting more attached to the characters as you get more into anime/movie/whatever.

For me it was Matrix Revolutions when Neo and Trinity crash into that building in Machine City. First time: Felt sad. (Note: I saw the trilogy backwards). Second time: THERE UNCONTROLLABLE SOBBING.

#2 - I'm with you. I've never seen the play, but I loved the movie a lot. Rent fandom almost scares me because it's such a double edge sword and I don't feel like willingly putting myself out there to be sliced and diced by a fan who thinks the movie is crap and the original broadway play was the best. It just makes me want to shake them by the shoulders and say 'Hey, not everyone got the chance to see the original play so all we have is the movie. don't be bitchy to us just because we actually like the only version we're able to see!'

I'd love, love, love to listen to the drama CDs, but learning Japanese -- and good enough Japanese -- is kind of a tall order. I suppose anyone theoretically could, especially since fandom tends to have a lot of students, but it's seriously not at all practical a lot of the time.

On the other hand, let's be perfectly fair here. You're implying with this secret that you do know Japanese well enough to understand what's going on in some detail, right? And you obviously know English, right? And all you really want to do is share the characterization with more fans.

So why aren't you doing something about it? Not that I think translating is easy either, but there are certain to be more people like you in the fandom, and if nothing more, summary and general discussion can't hurt.

Totally not just saying this because I'm dying for anything of that kind. Seriously. ;_;

Yeah. I mean, of all the reasons not to play FFVII... there's plenty. I just can't wrap my brain around Aeris being the main reason when there's so many better ones. I love the game, but I could list quite a few off the top of my head. The controls were fine in the late nineties, but if you're used to having an analog stick, you'll run into walls all the time. A lot of potential players are already spoiled for a lot of the surprises. It's kind of fucked up and depraved, I mean, it's not exactly the game you take home to meet your parents.

And that translation is out to get you killed.
