14. Getting a job is harder than it sounds sometimes... and there are reasons for a person not having one besides being lazy, especially in this econonmy (well, if you are in the United States). I don't know who you are talking about, maybe they are lazy, but not everyone who has has hard luck in life and happens to be nerdy is hopeless and unworthy of friendship. You can be friends or not be friends with whom you want, but I'm glad that you actually seem to recognize that your attitude is pretty bitchy. I'd say come out and be honest about it - I know I'd rather have people be honest with me than pretend to be nicey-nice. If you really don't like someone, why try to impress them?

17. Oh, fandom and gender sterotyping... *sigh.* I wonder if it's because a lot of people in fandom are young (or just immature?) I'm like you - I like male characters. I like writing for them, I seem to identify with them -- my favorite character ever that I'm always roleplaying is definitely a guy (and I write/roleplay him straight, too, not gay or bi). I'm a straight female (mostly aesexual, but I qualify as straight)...

People on the internet (or maybe just people in fandom? or in general?) seem to think that if someone doesn't act "sterotypically male/female" all the time that they must be trapped in the other's body/must be gay/yadda, yadda, crap. What I say to that? I say that I'm going to strap on my combat boots, go down to the creek to fish, and that I'm a very PROUD owner of boobs that I'm not trading in. Also, that I'm going to keep writing and roleplaying my favorite character. You just be comfortable with who you are, dear. Screw what fandom tries to tell you.

71. I'm sort of the same way... with certain subject matter and with certain pairings in my fandom specificially. It's not iron-clad. I have friends who write really awesome work and I know they've written subjects and pairings I do not like - I just don't read those fics and I stick to reading their "acceptable to me subject matter" fics. I'm not so generous with strangers/new writers I encounter. It's a weird, weird squick and I know that it is not fair. I think my viceral reaction comes from past wank and pairings-wars in my fandom, though -- it's put an almost "me/us vs. them" attitude in me that won't go away, even though I know it's irrational and stupid. With me, it's not so much anger as it is simple avoidance because I feel like "Okay, this is a person who probably believes this as canon and, by default, thinks I'm stupid since I don't, so I'm just not going to bother with any of their works."

73. Was this actually in church? I haven't been to church in a long time, but I remember once, around Christmas, going to church and trying to keep myself from sniggering whenever we all sang songs about angels because I'd just re-watched Neon Genesis Evangelion and I couldn't stop thinking about the "angels" in NGE -- if you've seen that series, you know just how *wrong* that is.

20. Your fandom needs a 'Get Chii safely laid kink meme'. ~*~Life finds a way.~*~

76. YOUR HANGUP IS RIDICULOUS AND UNFOUNDED AND YOU SHOULD FEEL RIDICULOUS AND UNFOUNDED. No, really. That's incredibly silly.

01. OH GOD. THANK YOU. I LOVE YOU. I loved the BOF series. It is literally my favorite and biggest inspiration in life. (I'm an animation major who somehow hopes to get into the game industry?) The artist is my absolute favorite. His sketches and designs are what made me want to be an artist and no matter how I find other artists who draw awesomely, the artist for BOF will ALWAYS be my favorite. And Three was the greatest game ever. I love four and five...(yes the black sheep...but I loved it nonetheless) and I so hope they continue this series. BOF > FF. ♥ (ps. DRAGONS! <3)

56. Ha ha. I would have agreed if you didn't put in Batman...I mean sure. I LOVE IRONMAN and more than I love Batman...but the night terror is pretty awesome himself you know. They both had to work with their heads to get where they were. But Tony Stark is a real person who became a hero. :) I love his flaws. They make him so much better. ♥

Someone else who loves Dragon Quarter! How my heart leaps with joy!

Also, I believe that the artist for Breath of Fire is also the same one working on Phoenix Wright, just in a more.. .cartoony style? I dunno where I heard it from, but I know he's still working on Capcom.

14. Seriously, one of my annoyances in life. Doesn't matter to me if they are a BNF or not. I get tired of hearing people who are older than me, jobless, and talk about nothing but fandom. When they say "I'm bored", I just want to scream "TRY GETTING A JOB THEN!"

20. I feel awful for never seeing it that way.

58. AGREED!

[identity profile] yuumeko.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
2. The FF theme? I think it would make a nice graduation song... I totally would get my diploma to that.

47. Haha, at the board I post at, this is the general consensus. I think its only in the female-dominated sites that I saw Nabari no Ou get popular.

54. That is sort of kind of awesome in a weird way. I love that screenshot. +1 SHIPPER POTENTIAL... RISING...

58. Agreed. I'm so sick of all the Tsubasa secrets. Old school MKR and CCS is where its at.

64. A Knight's Tale yeahhh~~

68. I also don't think Sakura from Naruto remotely has a big forehead.

76. I lol'd.

22. ... ._O You poor thing.

30. I'm starting to get into that series because of my aunt! :D

43. HEY I think he's fucking hot. But Terrence Howard...damn, making me choose!!! D:

72. OMFG REBOOT LOVE!!!!

73. LOL WHUT

6. *dies laughing*

8. *hugs you* Wow, a sane fan. Good for you!

14. Wow…that’s just…insanely mean.

17. If you don’t have gender identity issues while IDing with male characters…you’re not trans. You just want to have some of the aspects the male characters embody that usually don’t show up in female characters.

20. I think her clit IS her on switch. And I hear you about the stuff that avoids that area…

25. Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from.

49. As do I.

52. I’m surprised no one has Aizen having some kind of Arrancar orgy.

57. I could get into Air Trecks myself.

58. I NO RITE?

63. I agree with the second part, but the shipping for me is just a stupid joke.

68. I have no idea.

70. OH MY JESUS YES. I’d never thought about it like that before, but my GOD, they would!

In many countries, living for generations under the same roof is actually the norm.
There is no stigma at all, for example, for the 30-year-old male who lives with his folks, either if he has a job, girlfriends or not.
The opposite might be the popular opinion in your culture, but not in all :)

Over here, having no job is highly understandable, too, given the decades-long huge unemployment rates. And trust me, people can't afford to be 'lazy' here. If someone is physically or mentally handicapped, but are unfortunate enough to not have someone to support them, they are fucked.

16

(Anonymous) 2008-05-14 12:45 am (UTC)(link)

The only difference is I don't ship them at all. I can't stand that pairing, not even dismissively. It's the most ridiculous and arbitrary piece of shit couple in history.

[identity profile] justira.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Other people have discussed this plenty, but after a check through all 10 pages, I still have a question: good lord, WHERE in the world is that art from?

Re: 71 art

Looks like gd-mechano to me - else maaaaybe Idea on the far outside. Mechano's site has been down since forever though, so good luck finding the rest of that collection. (Doujin are available though, although expensive.)

Monk Secrets + 27

(Anonymous) 2008-05-14 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Monk deserves a much bigger fandom!

27 - LMAO! Donna definitely needs more love!

21. Pedophilia = attraction to prepubescents. 16 = WAY out of that ballpark. He was totally robbing the cradle, sure, but it bothers me when people get this wrong.

43. If this is real then I'm sleeping with Tony.

48. Based on this secret alone, I feel I should be entitled to hate "sensible fans" of this fandom.

76. Good for you! Maybe fanfic in general is just too intense for your sensibilities. Perhaps you should curl up with something more straightforward - like a dictionary! Good clean fun!

YES YES a million times yes! BoF 2-4 were some of the greatest rpgs I've played, and they did have some excellent characters all around.

Can you at least overcome your hatred enough to provide a link? Inquiring minds want to know (and possibly share your pain).

36. I don't know who you are... but I love you so much. Oingo Boingo has been my BIGGEST obsession for going on 5 years now(not a long time in the grand scheme of things, but being only 16.. hey). Elfman is so amazing(not to leave out the rest of the band, they also kick so much ass). They are so inspirational, their music always puts me in the greatest moods! I didn't even know that many people liked them until I started to meet the internet, but it fills me with.. joy to know that other people are out there supporting their legacy. Boingo for LIFE! <3

63. I AGREE. I <3 Colin and Ryan, but I <3 them as BEST FRIENDS. Not like.. weird... aging man lovers. To me, they are the dynamic best friend duo that conquers the world from their own sofa, yknow? Not... two older men who like to have raunchy sex. Ew. Ew. Oh god I can't unthink it... anyway...I totally agree with you. With fandom, it seems nobody can take a close male friendship as just that... a close male friendship. People feel like they HAVE to make it into some deep love for each other.. which creeps me out. urgh.

43

[identity profile] baka-deshi.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Normally I'd never say this but um...actually it sounds like it's good you broke up with him. Because your DREAMS are not something you can control, and it's freaky that he'd try to hold you accountable for your DREAMS.

43 and 56

[identity profile] invisiblecake.livejournal.com 2008-05-14 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I love both of you.

I'm a little confused as to why I feel the need to go see this move a FOURTH time. I have to make myself wait until the DVD release before seeing it again. Persistant comercials are not helping. I wants him!!!!!

I absolutely love this game also. I own the trilogy and loved every one of them. I even went so far as to play in an online RP for this game. And furries don't do anything for me. Seriously.

Well, okey, the voice acting could have been better for a few of the characters, but still... <3

21 - Holy shit, yes. I could never get with this pairing. Too... wtf?

30 - I love that show. Hardcore.

49 - YEAH! If I wanted reality I would go outside... Or at least watch the news.

17

(Anonymous) 2008-05-14 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry honey, but give me a freaking break. You think you have to have a problem with your gender because you appreciate the male characters more? Maybe that just makes you het.

I've preferred men all my life. Reading about them, watching them, being friends with them, fucking them. And yeah, I'm a straight female too, not a guy inside. I think a lot of people can live like that.

Re: 17

(Anonymous) 2008-05-14 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not the OP, but I think you misunderstood what they were saying. Appreciation and preference are different from identifying with the male gender/role/persona.
