76. ... er... "poleaxed", in terms of being dumbstruck/stopped dead with shock, is meant to be METAPHORICAL. Except you seem to know this and don't care...? o_o It's perfectly valid metaphorical language. Maybe "poleaxed" gives the mood the writer is hoping to achieve better than any of the other alternatives? Maybe it's just, you know, not something to take literally/get hugely worked up over?

49. I bash things for being unrealistic all the time. But only if they sort of take the stance that they ARE realistic and real people would/should/could react this way. If it's declared to be utter fantasy from the get-go, like ok, go wild! But if it's all "this is a typical school with a typical child as a main character and all this weird shit happens and this is supposed to be realistic" it's like whoaaaa suspension of disbelief does NOT go that far.
