110. I just hope that Kojima at least lets Ocelot die as himself, and not as Liquid. He's such an amazing character, and it'll be a huge shame for him not to have received a bit of freedom from teh gay Liquid.

110 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-06-07 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
I think he will--it would be incredibly anticlimactic for Ocelot himself not to show up at all.

::snerk:: Ah, Liquid...

117. Awww, Kaylee would totally be a Hufflepuff! ♥

143. Aww, cute cosplayer! ^^ (That's CUTE. Not "kawaii." I feel the exact same way you do on that front. Blargh. x_x)

I totally agree with you.

You're a dumbass.

Of all the fandom!secrets I've ever seen, you have posted the stupidest. You are, in fact, the stupidest poster.

Seriously.

111. ...Way to take all the opportunities you have for granted, there. Yeah you sold out, but you're certainly not as intelligent as you think you are if you think getting an education is meaningless.

It's not about trudging through school to learn something you would have learned later on anyway, it's about WORKING HARD and applying yourself to something completely. That's what gives a degree its value, and that's why people need to have them in order to be successful in the real world.

135. I do feel bad for poor Clover... but hell, if I was in the humans' position I'd being shooting the hell out of her too. D= She is an animal after all, it's not like they could just sit down and talk things out with her...

Also, I can totally see this going on the ED page.

Totally.

I like him more now that he's grown some balls and started acting like a villain TBH.

109. It pisses me off, as well. I couldn't care less if someone references because honestly everyone does it, though I tend to only reference my own pictures because I really don't care for reference stock because you have to credit and the pose has already been used by a lot of other people. I've been able to tell when a lot of people are tracing stuff or using photo scraps and have seen some of them get called out on it. It makes me uncomfortable to learn that some artists I once admired aren't above doing this. It makes me feel even worse that I found out that the very digital artist who made me want to try digital art all those years ago was tracing and using photo scrap. Yes, she's very talented regardless but it set standards that I could never live up to because she was literally using portions of pictures in her artwork. All the late teen angst I had over not being as good as her ... and then I find out that in a sense I was always better than her because I was completely self taught, and did it completely without having to incorporate photos and what not. I've lost a lot of faith in artists ever since then and each time I find out another talented artist is doing something similar it becomes worse.

(Anonymous) 2008-06-07 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
What gets me is that people have the nerve to get pissed off when they're caught. What are you pissed at? You're the one lying to everybody!

And worse still, the fans don't care. The like it because it's "good" or pretty or whatever, but that's a total lie. It's not good! But they whine about their favorite tracer being punished because they want more. Then they try and make up excuses and get pissed off at people that are upset or angry about it. They need to get their priorities straight.

And no! That is now how you reference people! Reference does not mean adding a layer in photoshop and tracing it with your tablet and coloring it in. They used to make coloring books like that with tracing paper over an image so you could trace and color. Same concept here kids, tracing it doesn't mean you drew it! Referencing is when you can't figure out how the hell to get a hand to look right, so you find a photo with it and figure it out so you can add it into your picture. You refer to it to get things right, you don't lean on it because that's all the ability that you have.

Art theft really ruffles my feathers. I can't even understand why you'd want to do that. If you're getting popular for lying people, it's all fake and dissatisfying anyway.

[identity profile] fairytaleupdate.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
151. Awww, you totally read my mind! I remember seeing him as Dr. Tommy Oliver and going 'Doctor!? Tommy? Since when? What crackpot school decided to give HIM his doctorate!?' After mentioning this to some hardcore fans I was told that it was possible...

Quite frankly I don't see how one could possibly get through high school while saving the world, let alone college.

But to his credit the guy who played him is still amazingly hot. I just won't believe that Tommy's a real doctor.

[identity profile] thelittleloner.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
115) Bwahaha, Art History man.. I saw this and was like, "eh? Venus of Willendorf??" That's one of the first pieces I learned in my class, and I cannot forget it! xD Nice. I have not seen Hellboy though, sorry I cannot relate on that part. =P

143) Absolutely. I cannot agree more. The word 'kawaii' has been killed for me. @_@ Same thing applies for fanfics... I've seen fics where people just throw in Japanese phrases... I mean, there are people that understand them, sure, but the point is that, the characters are technically speaking Japanese anyway, right? No need for the author's own Japanese inserts in a fic written in English!! >_< Ramblemumblegrumble. =P Anyways... yes, I agree with you.

110. Ocelot is the man but Snake is my favorite character. I think that Snake is going to die in this one but I would love for him to have taken out Ocelot before it's all said and done. Ocelot is a character that I love but at the same time love to hate. Kojima did such a great job with his character.

Oh man, if Otacon dies, I am going to cry my eyes out.

110 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-06-08 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Snake should definitely take out Ocelot/Liquid/whichever damn personality he is at the moment.

I KNOOOOW. :(

[identity profile] runic-binary.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
111. ...Are you serious? I just...I can't tell if you're trolling or not.

133. Well maybe you should, um, stop telling her you fantasize about Orihime types? I'm all for being open and honest in relationships, even and sometimes especially about sexual fantasies, because that can be a healthy thing to talk about. But when your partner has self-esteem issues, you should be helping them work through it and reasserting your attraction to them rather then talking about how you like chicks with bigger tits than they have. How is that not common sense?

141. Aww, that's awesome that you have such a great dad and best friend. I wish my family was like theirs sometimes. (I mean, my mom is already awesome, but yeah.)

150. ...Jason isn't Sky's father? Because I totally thought so too.

Every time my husband goes on about how much he hates Tim Burton, and how emo-serving and dreadful his films are, we both seem to always forget about this one. It might have something to do with the fact that this one was actually a good film.

Also, someone please tell me what's with his hard-on for Johnny Depp, please?

[identity profile] filthe.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
TOO BIG$#2 You want to encase her soul in a tin suit?

#120 - Yup that's me to a T.

#140 - Worst. Mary Sue. EVER. My eyes are still bleeding from watching that ep. Ears, too. I can't believe they put that episode out there into the open. I've read better rotten fanfic than that crappy episode. OMG

130 - AusCom yay!
159 - You're not alone. Press Gang was amazing (though looking back, I'm amazed that some of those episodes could be screened in a 5.30 time slot...).

117. Ryan WOULD be in Slytherin, wouldn't he? *smirk*

122. I'm somewhat apathetic about the series now but . I thought it was cute for what it was...first FF ever, damn it. I went backwards from that to VI.

109

[identity profile] spiderhood.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
Dear OP, have you ever tried tracing yourself? Obviously not.
Have you ever tried to make a photomanip that won't suck ass? Apparently not, either.

Even deviantART has people who are mighty fine tracers (like Tsukishoujo) and awesome photomanipulators (like Orioto) - they get bashed all the time by the likes of you, who fail to tell a talented artist from one who sucks, and who then have to rely on pure technical measurements to judge art. Is it referenced? Bad! Is it not? Good! Easy way to live. Why don't you try using size as well - if the number of pixels is odd, it's bad, everyone knows it should be even, Y/Y?

When I'm drawing, I consider it my full responsibility to deliver a decent art piece. Whatever I do for that - use a tablet, an advanced software piece, a ref, a sacrificed chicken on my keyboard or a freaking yoga exercise - is just my way to achieve that goal. A complete paintover sucks not because of the method - because of the result. If the result does bring something new to this world, something fresh, something... that is art - it's not a fail, no matter what the methods were. It is pathetic to see people who post "art" that is crappy as hell, but are so damn proud of having done it in MSPaint, with no ref, using toes to hold a pen, and blindfolded. Don't be stupid. Don't be jealous. Stop making up excuses, learn to use all these tools other people are using, make your stuff better!

I'm by far not a great artist myself, don't get me wrong. I'm just tired of seing really talented ones being bashed with "yes, your art is awesome, but you used the wrong way to make it" arguments. WTF?

Re: 109

(Anonymous) 2008-06-07 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, it's impressive how many conclusions you manage to jump to in the course of accusing other people of jumping to conclusions.

Referencing is a useful artistic tool. Photomanipulation is a practiced skill. Tracing, on the other hand, is plagiarism. If I'm writing a piece of fanfic, instead, and I borrow someone's story and fill in different names and places, there's no talent required. That's not using the wrong technique to create something, that's cheating.
