Re: Reclaiming kink meme fills

(Anonymous) 2018-01-27 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's weird. People re-post old fic all the time and the fact that you wrote the fills anon doesn't make it different in my mind (it's no different than re-posting fic written under a different screen name).

You could add a note saying you wrote the fic years ago for a kink meme. I would never assume an author is lying about that and I don't think most people would.

Personally, I'd appreciate it if people put more smut where it's easy to find! ;)

Absolutely.

But that doesn't make it inherently gross and unethical for a girl to like m/m pairings or a guy to like f/f pairings.

As a gay person - who has actually dated and had sex with people of my gender and faced some pretty nasty homophobia as a result - I'm absolutely aware that shipping gay ships doesn't mean you're not homophobic and doesn't mean you get to speak for gay people. Though I'm not clear what these "LGBT literary awards" are for. Are they to recognize gay, bi, and trans authors? Or are they to recognize stories focused on gay, bi, and trans plots? If it's the second, it shouldn't matter what the sexuality or gender identity of the author is.

This seems..... really bizarre and dystopian to me? Also kind of useless.

I'm sure there's a lot of people who are horrendous assholes on youtube and elsewhere who are perfectly well-behaved in the game.

nayrt. How hard is it to understand that a series doesn't exactly work like real life and that for the purposes of telling a story, you only need one childbearing plot thread at a time, so not everyone will necessarily have babies by the end of a show?

(Anonymous) 2018-01-27 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay? That sucks, but that example really isn't the norm. My sister and her husband just had kids in their late twenties. They struggle to make ends meet and with babies, there are lots of sleepless nights, but they are doing great and happier than ever. Kids are a lot of responsibility, but most people don't completely snap from the pressure of it.

I've seen a lot of people do this, so I wouldn't think it was weird. Usually they put something like "originally written for x kink-meme" in the AN along with a link to the original post.

Prismacolor pencils are so far superior to any other colored pencil that it's definitely nearing supernatural.

I am honestly confused at what point you're trying to make. You're mad that Sex in the City had more than one plotline about adult women having kids? Really? When there were two plotlines, including the protagonist herself, about choosing not to have kids?

I never wanted kids, never changed my mind about it and wish I had a dollar for every time I was told I would change my mind or otherwise belittled or insulted for it.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-27 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I think to some extent it's been a little overhyped due to certain parts of it being very memetic (you know, all the, it was me, Dio! and Ora ora ora etc. etc.), but if you just keep your expectations moderated I thought it was quite enjoyable as a wacky action adventure with lots of fun characters and unique powers.

I would note that if you're the type of person who likes to get really nitty gritty with details about the "rulesets" of their powers and how precisely does X work then you might be kind of aggravated. Araki isn't exactly the best about consistency.

You obviously weren't alive during the Cold War, when everyone really did think the earth was going to explode at any given second. Thank fuck people didn't stop having babies despite that.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-27 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah! I loved reading and watching The Disaster Artist. Their story is such a fascinatingly bizarre yet endearing tale of friendship overcoming adversity, and reaching for your dreams, no matter how stupid those dreams are XD

The decision of the committee responsible for the awards was that the awards served both purposes: to promote LGBT authors and to promote LGBT content. And professional authors of m/m romance threw a fit arguing that they were god's gift to gay lit. It was a few years ago back on livejournal.

I'm guessing that picture's about 20-30 years old, though? It's a rare man who looks as handsome at 65 as he did at 35.
I mean, yeah, also terrible plastic surgery doesn't help.

I'm sure the wank when A Wrinkle in Time hits theatres will be amazing. (Meg and Calvin are married in the third book, with a four-year age difference.)

I'm a woman. When I was...

...16 I dated an 18yo.

...17 I dated a 23yo.

...17 I dated a 14yo.

...19 I dated a 15yo.

I rarely stuck to people my age and didn't care what anyone thought of that.

So yeah, I don't get the fuss, either.

I'm too afraid of turning into my mother. So better not having kids and breaking the cycle of abuse.

No, I don't think they are doing that.

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2018-01-27 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes no sense. What they WILL be doing is going after people who post videos and do the following: Purposefully drop rank so they can climb again, Drop rank so they can destroy people, players that post themselves trolling and being toxic to others, players that HACK their teammates and/or opponents so that they win/lose.

Social justice superiority headcanons is a really good term for this, and it's one of my major fandom dislikes as well.

I saw a tumblr post just the other day that was a few people arguing whether or not a certain Japanese media character should be portrayed as Asian or white, because according to them he's "clearly mixed race". There was this huge argument over whether it was better for him to be an evil white colonizer (not exaggerating) or an Asian guy (bc then it's like he was subjugating his own people, which is super deep and parallels real world conflicts)

a) His parentage is DELIBERATELY AMBIGUOUS b) people in that universe aren't "Asian" or "white" because Asia doesn't fucking exist c) we have no idea what "race" any of his possible parents are d) everyone else in the world defaults to "fantasy-Japanese" so whyyyy would he or any of his parents be white?!
