Good grief. What ever happened to people being able to agree to disagree? I'm not a Rose fan either, but I really don't care if other people like her. And I won't keep quiet about my opinions just because someone else thinks they're "wrong". Honest to God, fandom makes me despair sometimes.

The Matrix introduces and incorporates many key concepts in philosophy, including Descartes' evil demon problem, existentialism vs. nihilism, and a number of different perspectives on free will. If their introduction seems entry-level to you, it is because this trilogy was designed to make these concepts accessible to modern, generalized audience. Sure, these ideas have been done before, but it was their accessibility that made The Matrix as brilliant as it was.

166. Vic destroyed all the hope I had for Ouran's dub. And I was honestly expecting the dub to be perfect. FMA-quality. And as much as I liked Vic as Ed, he will never, ever be able to pull off Tamaki. ._. (But I have faith in all the other actors. It's a real shame Vic's probably going to ruin the whole dub when everyone else did such a great job.)

I like both dubs and subs. It all depends on the anime. I'm giving Ouran a chance, because I really, really love that anime, but my expectations have dropped like a lead weight. ;_;

Are you judging this based just on his performance as Ed, or have you seen more of what he's done? It's fine if you just don't think he can do it, but there's more to all these actors than just the one or two popular roles people are familiar with.

I have to admit, I'm nervous about him being able to do it, too, but I had heard rumors long before the cast was announced that he was Tamaki, so I'd already been mentally preparing for it. XD;; I think he has the ability to pull off Tamaki--very very different from the original seiyuu, but I still think he has the potential to do well. I'm remaining....cautiously optimistic.

I don't think any American voice actor can or should do a close approximation of the original seiyuu--he's too unique and too...well, good. Any actor who was going to be Tamaki, Vic or otherwise, was going to have to be very different. I'm...hoping Vic can do it. He's the wild card. I genuinely wish him good luck with it, in any case. And at least the sub has such a great cast that it's not a tragedy if the dub isn't done well.

Speaking as an old-school fan who is old enough to have watched Pertwee first run, let me say that I totally agree with this comment. I love old Who and I love new Who too. I don't understand why some people think that we should have to pick between them.

AMEN!! I was watching that scene thinking, "Yes, GOD forbid poor widdle Wose not get everything she wants, and not have to, I dunno, DEAL with life without that Doctor like EVERY OTHER COMPANION EVER has had to." I really used to like Rose, but once the show basically turned her into RTD's conduit for his own masturbatory fantasies, and it became so much about her, and she started whining about being with him forever and over (despite him explaining to her exactly why that wouldn't happen in no uncertain terms), I really grew to hate her. And the fact that, even after she left, the show refused to SHUT UP about her... ARGH! At least with this development, I'm hoping we won't have to hear about her. Ever. Again.
