120. I don't think that's necessarily true. A lot of Mylar shippers treat Mohinder as if he's nothing but Sylar's pretty sex toy, but that doesn't mean that ALL Mylar shippers feel that way. Shipping a pairing doesn't have to mean that you want them to get into a relationship and live happily ever after. In fact, I would probably be opposed to Mylar becoming a canon relationship, because it would destroy Mohinder's character. I ship them because I love their dynamic and I love the different sides that they bring out of each other - not because I want them to start holding hands and watch the sunset together - I just like watching them.

I can't speak for all Mylar fans, but personally, Mylar is one of the reasons I have so much respect Mohinder. He's the only person on the show who can really handle Sylar, and the guy is just a powerless geneticist. I really admire him for having the guts to stand up to Sylar and trick him time and time again, all while keeping his snarky bitchface on.

Also, I don't really think that MattMo is the perfect, fluffy ship that some people seem to see it as. Everytime we've seen them interact in canon, they were arguing, and to be honest... I don't feel like they have a lot of respect for each other, while I always feel like Sylar has some level of respect for Mohinder (twisted as it may be, coming from a serial killer). I really wish there was more MattMo fic out there that portrayed them truthfully, because I actually do enjoy their dynamic and think that there are many interesting things to explore with it.

144. Sexism sucks hard all around, but in fairness I don't think I would call Skala a matriarchy. It's a patriarchy with a line of religiously-ordained female rulers; most of everyone else in power is male, families are centered on the father and children take their father's names in most cases, and men dominate the professions. Women have more freedom than in many patriarchies in Skala, and this is implied to be because of the queens, but having some freedoms while most positions of power are held by men does not a matriarchy make (look at our modern society). Heck, Skala isn't even matrifocal outside of the royal lineage. There's no religious tradition justifying the inferiority of men other than ILLIOR SAYS SO, as opposed to BITCHES SUCK AND NOW YHVH WILL TELL YOU WHY. There's no internalized self-hatred on the part of men, no glass ceiling other than royalty. Did I mention that men are still the head of the household?

You want a matriarchy? Read Melanie Rawn's Exiles series. Admittedly not my cup of tea because it's slowly paced and light on action, but it's one of the most realistic, well thought out matriarchal societies I've ever seen portrayed in fiction (usually they are patriarchies with women in charge, lol things don't work that way). To a point that I must admit to a guilty MUWAHAHAHAHAAH or two whilst reading it, which I justify to myself on the basis of their being patriarchies that still exist today that make their treatment of men look downright enlightened. But women run the household, women inherit all property, hold all positions of power, dominate professions, men who cheat are divorced and ruined but wives can have as many lovers as they like - and society and religion will tell you why this is the natural order of things.

Hmm, good point. I thought on first reading that the patriarchal stuff depicted in the Tamir trilogy (haven't read the other one) was started by Erius, but on further thought it wouldn't make much sense to have such a complete turnaround in such a (relatively) short period without some cultural groundwork already laid out, would it? I guess I mentally jumped from "ruler has to be female" to "matriarchy" (I also guess that while I'm at college I ought to sign up for a course on these things sometime).

Still, my knee-jerk reaction to "No boys allowed (at least not this high up) because Illior says so" is "And why is that?" I mean, is Illior really big on affirmative action or something? :)

I don't think Jensen is a bad actor at all. People seem to assume it's easy to be the funny guy, but natural comic timing is underappreciated.

And in terms of his drama acting, I'm not sure I can think of many TV actors his age who could've pulled off the series two finale episodes with the kind of emotion Jensen gave it.
