155: Nobody cares why those that like her, like her; those of us who don't, just don't want to feel that we have to pretend so that you and fandom_wank and the omg internalised misogyny police won't hold us up in public as examples of why the whole fandom is sexist and woman-hating and self-hating. Just because we like the show's narrow focus on the brothers and their relationship, aren't interested in the girls the actors date, and don't want them to have canonical girlfriends or be part of a larger team, does not mean that we hate ourselves, you or any other woman.

148: What I don't understand is how anyone can even take otakin seriously. Muses are a phenomenon I understand. This is common in writers. But we know that no matter how real they may seem (and I am the type that gets advice and arguments from mine) the things they say come from deep in our own subconscious minds. If my Chase muse were real, I should be able to do surgery. I'm not. If my Jim Profit muse, also a loud bastard, were real, I would know how to take over corporations. And speak Chinese. Which I never managed to learn to do even when I was married to a guy from HK. Yet despite how loud these critters are, and how good they are at putting together subconscious cues from my environment, they do not really know anything that I haven't learned myself in some way to some extent. I have to do research to write them. And so does everyone else that I know. How can you really think that you actually ARE Sailor Moon if you can't do the I'm-gonna-kick-your-butt-dance and then smite the ungodly with your moon stick? I don't get it. I get how therianthropes/furries/animal 'kin' work. People have been having animal spirit totems since the beginning of time. Maybe they're spiritual entities and maybe they're a part of the subconscious mind like my muses. But I just can't extend that to a character, that no matter how much I may love her, has to fight the tennis shoe monster on TV because somehow they have to stretch one manga installment out to four weekly TV eps. If this is a failure of my imagination, so be it.

And I think he was happy with "Zane". They were hot together, so I ship them, even though it's pretty damn sad when Sylar is the person who has to take care of you because you're kind of an idiot about life. If it were possible for Sylar to be redeemed then they could have a happy life together someday. But it probably isn't. That's okay. I don't ship Mylar for the curtain fic, I ship it for the twisted kinky sex. I don't see the subtext with Matt and Mo. They live together for the sake of Molly, they bicker a lot. They act like people who've been married 20 years, or long-term roommates. Not lovers. Four months ago Matt had just left Janice. What, did the honeymoon last ten minutes? If we're going to talk about what people deserve, Matt deserves someone who is really into him after X years of Janice, not someone who bitches at him all the time after only four months. Mohinder...is going to wander into his own destruction anyway; it might as well be hot.

175 - the funny thing is, of course, that it's not like she ever needed Spoon Head, and unless I missed something, Nnoitra wasn't exactly in love with her either... so all affection that might be between them is pretty much all fanon. Of course I'm not saying people can't ship Nnoitra and Nell, I just don't quite see how it's disrespectful to ship them with different people. 101. The stories of him signing autographs with "There is no God" at the end really bug me more than anything. For obvious reasons, I suppose, but if I went up to a performer at the end of the show and got that, or some other religious message when I just wanted a siggy, I'd be a put put out.

Here's my post-secret: It was. It was infinitely more tragic. And I say this as a stout shipper as well. Rose was seperated "forever" from the man she loved, but she retained everything she learned from him and went on to better her life and kick butt. Donna...Donna lost everything.


135. I've only seen episode 1 of A2A, but I think it's basically fanfic. It's just not canon to LoM. She read about Sam's experiences, then in a time of crisis, drew upon them herself (so I don't know why she kept asking about Sam, if she was so convinced she was in her own mind). Like any self-insert, she even eliminated the competetion (Sam and Gene's wife). Their minds don't magically overlap. So...I don't see why folk can't ship both. I mean, I don't ship Sam/Guv, but if you did...


137. I've never seen SN, and probably never will, but I hear you about the first bit. I'm tired of "Oh, you only like Johnny Depp because he's pretty and popular." Um, no. I like him because I like the kind of characters he creates. Pretty is icing on the cake. I don't go and watch Orlando Bloom movies for fun, bless him. Or of course, "People only like David Tennant's Doctor because he's young and sessy, and they ignore how much he sucks as a person!" Yeah, because the idea of liking a character for their numerous, layered, and occassionally creepy flaws is so foreign. It's gotta be about my pants.

But it just looks so bright and happy, like something enjoyable to watch. (The fact that it brings back childhood could figure into it).

134. Welp I don't like female gamers that constitute as playing Kingdom Hearts or Super Smash Bros as their base for being a gamer =X. Actually I've never had a problem as to proving myself as a gamer once guys find out what games I actually play and how I talk about them (but I don't play MMOs and I heard thats where a lot of the hate occurs). For an anorexic girl she is not simply a mental case she just simply has a lot of problems she needs to work out. She actually reminds me a lot of a girl I used to know that was an A student but started failing lifewise and has ended up in rehab since then. I think Cassie is a wonderful character but I do agree that idolizing her is rather stupid. But... her character is so human and accurate and thats what I love about her.
