In interviews, Joss and Co kept saying that they did this to create a new format of "television", with more involvement from the the writers and less by the studio. But really, I don't see how that could work for a lot of writers since they're not all rich like Whedon;

126. I went to Herosite for the first time last weekend and decided never to go there again. Using a supposed "resource/for the fans" site as a soapbox for your personal hatred of damn near everything and everybody is just shitty, IMHO. I worry that people may go there liking Maya and leave with a negative opinion of her (and other characters, too) just because of the herd-hate. Badly handled characters should be reformed rather than killed off. It can be done, and I think the writers on the show have the ability to do it. The question is whether they will.

I'm SO over the Maya hate! I admit I was a bit guilty of it once myself, but I want her to have an amazing storyline next season so bad! She's so gorgeous and needs to stay on the show! <3

125: The comics internet hated Civil War, so I don't see why you feel the need to keep your hatred secret. When it was running, I found

scans_daily unbearable because I was one of maybe three people on the internet who didn't hate it, and people were talking like that made me a fascist or a moron, which... is not exactly conducive to civil debate.

Also: nobody in Marvel fandom gives a crap about continuity. Why should we care more than the editors do? If Civil War interferes with your fic, ignore it, retcon it, write around it -- don't let it spoil your fun! Marvel fandom needs more fic! *cough*

119. YuYu Hakusho love forever! 8D Seriously, it was the first anime I was ever seriously in to, and I've only grown fonder of it over these past six years. I came of age with it, so the characters will always be dear to my heart.

124. Oh man. Wiping lab tables with ethanol. That takes me back... I seriously miss my old job as a lab assistant. Reading anatomy books + eating mitochondrion-shaped desserts + Doing Science = best job ever.

156. Me too, actually! I have a few pairings that I adore, but some people act like it's what fandom is about, and that's far from the truth. And then there are people who think shipping is all about sex and who would be "hawt" with who. I sometimes feel like people can't see the forest for the trees on both levels.

182. Oh man, tell me about it! The thing with me is that I tend to go on hyperdramatic tangents about really small, stupid things. In a very similar way about very similar subjects. So when I watched Zetsubou Sensei, I had a really, really good laugh. Not just at the lovely comedy in the show, but at myself, because it kind of showed me how I look to other people. :P And it helps that he's such a lovable character. ^^

Ahaha. It is a pretty sweet job! I'm a lab tech and I do mostly grunt work. Sanji's eyebrow makes the day go faster!

Yeah, I really hoped that Bindy would end up with Toby, because I'm a total sucker for friendship that turns to love. (XD; that say anything about me?) But man, the ending totally took me for a spin.

111. Back when my exposure to fandom was mostly through lj and various message boards, I generally agreed with you that fandom > normal people in intelligence. (Even with FFN out there - most of the badfic was by kids, even smart people can start out writing badfic, bad storytelling ability doesn't necessarily mean being a moron, etc.)

Then I discovered Gaia Online. I'll grant that lj has an above average IQ, but fandom as a whole is no smarter than anyone else. ;_;
